I finally have a rating system. I think i might stay with this one:
High Recommend--means I really liked this film. Pretty much flawless. Think a 5 out of 5.
Recommend (Or you'll here me say Solid Recommend)--means I liked the film despite it's flaws. The good outweighs the bad. 4 out of 5.
Moderately Recommend--means the movie was mediocre at best, or as the kids say "mid." 2.5/5
Low Recommend--there was something here, but not much. Grasping at straws, but you may find the performances good, but the movie as a whole wasn't good. 2/5 or lower.
Do Not Recommend--this film sucked and does not deserve your time.

Never saw this movie.
@@jasminnemcdonald94A I'd say don't listen to my review. I'm really thorough in reviews, but you might actually have fun with it if you like Marvel movies.
My brother and I went and saw the first one together and he hated it while I really liked it. I liked what they did with mental illness but I think it was such a downer that my brother felt like it had no benefit to humanity by even existing. Maybe that’s how Todd Phillips felt deep down based on the “subversion of expectations” with this second one. I will eventually see this new one and am glad you didn’t outright pan it the way seemingly everyone did. “How was the musical part?” “Uhhh….not very good” Hilarious
@@CameronBuchwalter-ci3rr yeah definitely. I didn't think it was outright bad. I think people were expecting their typical Joker, but I like the approach Todd Philips did with it. I thought a lot of what he did with this one was really unnecessary.
I really like the amount of time each of these reviews has been! Makes it easier on my ADHD brain! It seems like you’re getting better and better at finding the sweet spot on that but I suppose I don’t quite remember if you’ve actually made any drastic changes with that or if this is just the way you’ve been doing it for awhile now. Either way, keep it up! I happen to think Naomi Scott is really cute man. I’ve never seen a trailer where you can tell the actor/actress is acting their ass off the way you can tell she is. This was one of the many movies I wanted to see in theaters this year but just didn’t get around to it. I’m glad you liked it. It’s on the list! That was cool that you got the wife and granddaughter involved in this review too! Lol. “Better than sex”. Lmao. High praise for sure. Apparently Naomi Scott’s boyfriend in the film is Jack Nicholson’s son!
@@CameronBuchwalter-ci3rr lol. Yeah the Better Than Sex is a Double Toasted perfect rating. We both really enjoyed it. And I appreciate it. I'm trying to better my delivery when it comes to reviews. And yeah, Naomi Scott is fine as hell. She's not in the movie, but I'm finding Sidney Sweeney as my new attraction also! I appreciate the comment!
@@CameronBuchwalter-ci3rr wow. I didn't know Naomi Scott's boyfriend is in the film. And he's the legendary Jack Nicholson's son? Nice 👍👍
Before I even watched I knew it was you reviewing a Tyler Perry film so it would be good for a few laughs! Lol. “I really don’t understand Tyler Perry at this point”…I’m impressed that you continue to watch his films despite the way that you feel…but I respect it. It’s nice that he told a story of historical significance so there was something to learn from the movie. Oh, and Kerry Washington is so beautiful. I’ve always enjoyed her as an actress.
@@CameronBuchwalter-ci3rr Kerry Washington is one of my celebrity crushes. That woman is too beautiful. But yeah, I'm glad you enjoyed the review. Tyler Perry doesn't seem to want to change much, but I'm at least glad he tried a historical drama.
I was going to add that the ending divided a lot of people that watched this. I really liked what he did with the ending. It's a shame the rest of the movie wasn't that great.
Tyler Perry actually filmed a few scenes in some cities in the United Kingdom. I thought that the movie was well made and didn’t find nothing wrong with the performances. I thought that everyone did a good job including Tyler with his direction. For the most part, I respect your opinion on the movie.
@@BJSimmons99 okay. I wasn't completely aware of the location. It looked like his studios again. Thanks for the heads-up. But that's cool. I'm glad you enjoyed the film! I just wished he'd actually hire some talent in the writing/directing department.
It's wasn't Ready or Not, but Truth or Dare was what I meant!
It felt unique. Not necessarily a perfect film or anything like that but it just felt like it was a breath of fresh air in comparison to a lot of cookie cutter movies these days. I’m also just a fan of tennis in general and used to love playing it. So I liked it for every reason.
Cameron what's up. Short for the late reply. I'm going through some of these reviews randomly, but yeah this isn't a perfect film. If I were to give this an unbiased review, it would drop to a solid recommend. It's definitely not perfect at all, because there's really no plot to this movie at all
I enoyed the movie but... There were parts that were just a massive flop..I give the movie a 6.5 out of 10
@@shirellelewis1529 nice. Yeah, I'm seeing a lot of people that liked it, and I thought it was fine. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
You go king 🎉
@@sambompton2181 appreciate that!
I enjoyed this movie. Not to the extent I was hoping for but the stunts and action were great, the cast was excellent and all the behind the scenes of the movie set sequences had my inner movie geek very satisfied! Great review
@@ZachMilneTalksMovies thanks a lot! Yeah, it's a fun action movie. Definitely! It's nice to know this was directed by a stuntman himself.
I'm more concerned that you didn't get as far as Season 5 and 6 in Game of Thrones than I am your opinion of this movie. Yikes. :) I remember really liking the original "The Omen" as a kid. It was as creepy as it was horrific. The idea of the anti-christ coming to Earth really freaks me out. I think that I saw bits and pieces of the first four films because I'm pretty sure that they were often on Starz or HBO and we had both of those channels. I never saw the remake in 2006 but I'm glad that this new one was good because I really do like the concept itself. Ralph Ineson is cool too. Isn't he going to be playing Galactus in Fantastic Four? He's a good actor. I'm glad that you don't really care for jump scares though either lol. I'll probably check this out though. Maybe I'll rewatch the old ones too.
@@CameronBuchwalter-ci3rr yeah. I gotta watch the entire Game of Thrones series. I dropped off a while ago and don't know why, but I plan on binging it like I did Rings of Power.
@@CameronBuchwalter-ci3rr I'm not sure if Ralph Ineson is in the new Fantastic 4. I'll have to check I haven't been keeping up with the cast. I was disappointed with the 2006 remake with Julia Styles. Yeah, jump scares don't do it for me. It just feels like reaching for a cheap scare. But this one surprised me how done it was.
Embarrassingly enough, I have not played the videogames. I definitely respect them because of how well regarded they are, but maybe part of the reason why I decided not to see this film was because of the fact that I haven't played the games. Just weird to make this movie now. Feels like it's 10 years too late. I wonder if they didn't see some of the success of recent videogame adaptations and just decide to desperately make this in the hope of leeching off of that success or something. I watched RLM's review and apparently Jack Black's performance is particularly hard to stomach. Blah. It is what it is. One less movie I need to waste precious time watching.
@@CameronBuchwalter-ci3rr exactly. The Borderlands hype died down now. I don't understand why it wasn't made back in 2012 when the 2nd game came out? Or at least a couple years after?
It's definitely worthy of all of its praise and I'm glad that I saw it....but I'll never watch it again. Just felt like it wasn't made for me. I like Greta Gerwig as both a director and an actress and I thought the performances were all as good as one could possibly expect. There was a lot of effort put into this film. Again, just not for me. I didn't even see it in theaters and you know how often I go to those.
@@CameronBuchwalter-ci3rr yeah. It's all good. My granddaughter wanted to watch it, and in spastic 5 year old fashion, the girl could barely sit still, but all in all, I was surprised with it, but I could see it not being for everybody. I think angry joe and his crew only gave this a 5 or 6
I've not seen this particular Omen movie but the first Omen movies were not about possession, they were about the anti-christ being born on earth
@@elenasmith3527 yeah. I usually put them all in the same category as The Exorcist, and any exorcism movies.
My buddy made fun of me for not wanting to see this movie. I like the cast and the credentials of Leitch but it just looks like a cookie cut blockbuster. Leitch's pedigree in the action genre is very solid but I prefer action movies that don't have comedy (usually). The levity from the comedy lowers the stakes in my opinion. Blah. I'll stop whining. I appreciated this review by you though because I think I would've felt similarly.
@@CameronBuchwalter-ci3rr it's basically a typical Leitch action comedy blockbuster, so definitely go in with those expectations if you do. He's not one of my favorite directors, but at least he can do action.
@@CameronBuchwalter-ci3rr what's funny is he used to be a stunt man before he started directing.
"If you've watched one Tyler Perry movie, you've seen 'em all"...I about fell out of my seat laughing...you were cracking yourself up during this so at least Mr. Perry gave you some good fodder. Can't believe he's a billionaire. I'm uneducated about what's going on with him critically but I'd be definitely interested to learn more.
@@CameronBuchwalter-ci3rr Good ol Mr. Perry never fails to deliver lol, but his movies make money, and he has his audience, but in terms of creativity, the man has none unfortunately.
Alright, whatever. I guess I'll make sure this one's on my list. :)
@@CameronBuchwalter-ci3rr yeah man. It's definitely worth it!
I'll consider giving it a shot
Definitely. It's a fun movie. Definitely not perfect, but still worth it. Thanks!
Woooo! “High recommend”. Awesome. I feel like I should wait to comment until I see it. I remember sending you the trailer for this but then somehow didn’t see it before you?! Embarrassing. Thanks for not spoiling anything. I’ll be back
Lol that's cool. I'm glad you recommended this. One of my favorites of last year for sure!
Did you see the trailer before watching the movie? I hate when trailers spoil reveals that could’ve been really fun to find out organically but I suppose they felt that they had to pull out the vampire angle to get tickets bought. Why do you call Giancarlo Esposito “Carlos” Esposito?! Is there an inside joke or something? Lol. Excellent review as always.
They really do. I thought it was weird to show she was a vampire in the trailer, but played it up as a twist in the movie. But like you said, probably if it was just being sold as people kidnapping a ballerina girl, no one would've bought tickets. And yes, I accidentally called Giancarlo "Carlos." Lol I realized it when I rewatched my review, and kicked myself.
I laughed out loud on so many occasions watching this review. Haha. You sounded like this caused actual pain. I have never seen a Tyler Perry movie (only because of how they're generally reviewed) but I definitely really liked Perry's performance in one of my favorite movies, "Gone Girl". No idea why he was even in it or how he got the part but he was good in it! "Mea Culpa" means "I apologize" or "It's my fault" so maybe he titled it as tongue-in-cheek since he knew the movie was trash. Haha. Just kidding.
Yeah this one was rough! Tyler Perry has even gone on record to say he throws these films together in two days. And as I put in the review, he lazily just keeps making the same movie over and over again, then brags about not having a writer's room to challenge his terrible, nonexistent talent.
Yes. Definitely glad I could entertain with the review! And if you have no desire to watch his movies, then that's the best move. Trust me, if it wasn't for my wife, I'd stay away from his movies too, but he was definitely good in Gone Girl.
I consider myself a fan of cinema but I ALSO have only ever seen a single Wes Anderson film. LOL. "Moonrise Kingdom" is the one I saw and I remember feeling very "meh" about it. I remember similarly being a little bit confused about what exactly I was watching (including the plot). "Unconventional" is a good word to describe what I saw in that movie and maybe that quirkiness is just not for me. I won't know for sure until I make sure to watch "The Grand Budapest Hotel" one day and see him at his best. "Asteroid City" got middling reviews so it wasn't going to be enough to be the one to pull me out. What a cast though!
Yeah, I could see his movies would be polarizing. I told myself I'd give Wes Anderson a try, and I saw the Asteroid City trailer. It is pretentious and confusing, but I got into the quirkiness, but I could see it not being for everybody.
At least your reviews lately are negative enough that I'm not adding even more movies to my overwhelming list! Haha.
Lol yeah. I think I've been watching so many bad movies. But I'm about to review American Fiction here pretty soon, then Dune 2 is on prime so I'll have to review that also.
Thanks for the laughs! "You want some coffee?". As soon as you said that it takes place in 2003 I could tell you were on the verge of laughter. I have a question for you about Sony. Do you know why during the end of credits scene for Venom 2 there was an image of Tom Holland's Spiderman? I'm confused about the Marvel/Sony split. I haven't looked into Venom 3's synopsis but with the way that Venom 2 ended it really seemed like they were going to find a way to have Spiderman and Venom face off. Also (for the record)....Venom 2 is terrible (even despite me being a fan of Woody Harrelson) and I only saw it because I was pleasantly surprised by the first Venom.
Lol yeah. I had to throw some humor in there 😂
I guess there's this whole contract thing with Marvel sharing Spider-Man rights with Sony. Sony wants to tie in their universe so bad to Marvel's. They're like that little brother that keeps tagging along until Marvel gives in and lets them do whatever they want. With you confirming also that Venom 2 sucked, Sony just needs to give control of Spider-Man back to Marvel.
Both Blade Runners are legendary. The original is definitely in my Top 100 all time. Upgrade is something I’ve never gotten around to. Your nod to Mass Effect made me so proud. The A.I. in that game is fleshed out a bit too.
The fact that you had the will to sit through this makes me respect you more as a movie critic. I’m just not able to sit through movies that get panned like this. It’s very rare these days that I ever like a movie that is poorly reviewed so I don’t even give them a chance. Also….is that a gold microphone?!?!
Lol yes. Like you mentioned before, I guess I'm a glutton for punishment lol. But I'm used to terrible movies at this point. I have to get in the right mindset though. And yes, I had to get a gold microphone. It just looked really nice!
@@authorrobjohnson3178 Definitely a good choice on the mic! It’s dope
@@CameronBuchwalter-ci3rr Hell yeah. Thanks a lot man!
I forgot to mention @ 20:17 watch Upgrade from 2019. Amazing film about AI.
I went into the movies with preconception of what mad Max would be but what I was given was a movie where the people took themselves seriously as characters and it's the first movie I actually watched the very last minute they really got me good I wanted to see what happened to dameitus. And I think I just have it been able to digest it yet but I really did like the movie.
That's really good. I have yet to check out Furiousa myself, but I honestly need to catch up on Mad Max in general.
Definitely glad you enjoyed it!
I apologize for the quality of the video, but the audio quality stays consistent. This is my third take of the review and it seemed like everything went wrong with this one!
I messed up the coffee. It was "Quad Americano."
I pretty much feel she should have kept her tweets to herself. I know she has controversial leanings, but she represented herself and she fucked up. I'm not saying I condone the tweets (I don't), but certain friends don't post anything on social media, and that's a good thing. I post because I'm an author, but I don't post things that get me fired either.
I definitely agree with this. Even if you have these beliefs, there's a time and place for that. The workplace isn't one of them.
@@authorrobjohnson3178Agreed. She should have at least not tweeted it.
@@EricJ562 that's dope man. You're very reasonable with you points. Are you Eric from the writing group on Facebook?
@@authorrobjohnson3178Yes I am actually :)
I'm late with reply lol, but thanks for responding on the channel!
I watched his take on Madame Web too and even though it was easy to agree with what he was saying about studio pressure it just felt like a cop out. My brother says that ever since he announced that he's making his own movie he's been soft and someone who is afraid to get on critics' bad side.
I thought the performances were great and I did enjoy the psychological aspect of it with the conversations and argumentative points between the family and invaders. But it did ultimately end up falling flat for me and I was underwhelmed by the film over all. Great review and keep up the videos 👍
Yeah. I appreciate the view and the comment! Yeah, I thought it was a step in the right direction for M. Night, but he's such an inconsistent director. Yeah, I didn't love this. Parts fell flat for me also. The twist was dumb and I wish he'd move away from that, but otherwise, I kinda liked it.

Definitely true. You gotta be self-conscious about how your cover looks.
Great choice. The old series and the new series both have pluses and minuses. It's a BIG book, with tons of characters and a huge Good Vs Evil story, so of course there will be limitations to every adaptation. I liked both adaptations, though, for different reasons. I also like your idea of writing down vocabulary words!

Hey! When I saw you had a channel, I had to immediately subscribe! How are you? In respect to the love triangle trope, I like what Dostoevsky did in The Idiot with Prince Myshkin, Nastasya Filippovna, and Rogózhin. The character of Filippovna haunts me still. She is not your typical upper class, "uppity" heroine. The conflict among them also give us a nuanced understanding about love.
Wow. That's nice man. I've been wanting to dig into more Dostoyevsky! I've actually wanted to read The Idiot. But I've been doing pretty good sir. It's been a very long time since we last spoke.
