I decided to give the stock tires a go on a trail with a bit of soft sand, I may have needed a bit more momentum but would lose traction coming in with too much speed.

Quick run Honda Trail 125

Going for a small trek on my new Honda Trail, I couldn't really get on any of the off the path trails with the tires it comes with since they would instantly cause me to sink, I'm going to upgrade to some more knobby tires to be able to get onto them next ride.

    I'm getting one next year, still recovering from a motorcycle accident last fall. Started with a 2014 Honda Grom, sold the Grom to buy a 2017 Yamaha FZ09.... Didn't like it one bit, too much for my needs. So I sold it to buy a Honda CB300R, loved the Big Grom, did everything right, still wanted to buy an other 125cc down the road. Now the CB300R is dead, comes in the CT125. Planing on doing everything with it, been waiting years for this bike to show up in Canada. Finally 2023 will be the first year, but by the time I can ride again it will be 2024. Ed March is why I want a CT125 also 🤣

    How good the stock IRCs are really? If someone does long rides on pavement and some gravel roads, I'm thinking about fuel economy, range on a tank, top speed, grip on pavement... Love the look for sure of the SR241 and SR244. I would go with 2.75 if it's possible What are your thoughts, getting the bike next year. Can't this year cause I'm still recovering from my bike accident I had last October

    Hey man love this vid, if you plan to keep the milk crate on the back I highly suggest putting some rubber material or something between the crate and rack to prevent scratching and also get some bolts and a small steel plate to hold the crate down instead of zip ties. zip ties are dangerous at speeds especially if you have weight in there. For mine, i bought a craftsman versastack box and put bolts and a small steel plate inside to hold it down, had to drill a couple holes in the steel plate but it was super easy. It works perfectly and only cost like 40 bucks total. The box is lockable and waterproof and strong.

    Hey I like your videos, found that these bikes were out just recently and decided it would make a perfect vehicle to carry on the camper. Found one on craigslist and jumped on it, been setting it up while waiting for the RV to get here, then I'm off to the west! I've been watching some videos about the Big bore kit myself and I don't think it's something I need to invest money in at this stage I will probably however go for tires and have already purchased a 13 tooth front sprocket for extra torque.

    • @GroceryGetter-zq7zf

    I currently have a fat tire ebike , on the really steep gullied up back roads , I get off and walk while I throttle up the bike 🚲 . I noticed that you did this in the sand . I have been wondering if it was possible to walk and throttle the 125 . The local Honda dealer is supposed to be having one delivered around the 22 June and I am at the top of the list , so I have been watching 👀 a lot of these 5 - 6 month old videos 📹 . Thanks !

      @richardduke9788 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For some of the big motorcycle 🏍 guys , the 125 was a slight let down. But for us older fat tire ebike guys that are a little tired of peddle assist at 25 mph and a range of 35 miles - if I did a lot of peddle assist - I think the 125 with some of the modifications that are in the videos 📹 , will be a major step up ! ! !

    So cool to see SoCal deserts, man-very calming. I’m in Japan now, trying to figure out which 125cc bike to get. The Trail (Hunter Cub over here) was high on my list, but jeez, the price! Right now I’m looking at a new, vintage-era (1974) designed Honda CG125. They’re made by Honda in China now in collaboration with Wuyang motorcycles. They’re built to deal with 3rd world conditions and I’ve watched a number of videos from Pakistan where they’re blasting them up steep dirt hills and through thick dirt/sand. The latest import model they’re selling new in Japan is the fuel injected-Honda CG125 I-FI, and it’s going for about 1,500 USD. I’m figuring that’s the way to go right now. Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures, thanks!

    • @GroceryGetter-zq7zf
      @GroceryGetter-zq7zf 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I need to check out this CG125!! Having something that's built for 3rd world conditions sounds rad and perfect for the Socal desert! How's the availability of the newer trail over in Japan?

    • @diyfreediver
      @diyfreediver 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GroceryGetter-zq7zf I just checked Goo Motorcycles which seems to be the biggest online dealer of used/new bikes in Japan (from vendors across the country), and it looks like the Hunter Cub (Trail) is readily available. Prices range from about $3,500 usd up to $5,000 usd. They have an English website-just google Goo Bike Japan. If you’re feeling more adventurous, you can check out Sox Motorcycles Japan to see an interesting mix of Japanese/Western/Chinese-Japanese bikes, but it’s all in Japanese. Sox is probably where I’m going to buy the CG125 unless I find a great deal from a private party.

    • @diyfreediver
      @diyfreediver 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GroceryGetter-zq7zf The CG125 is tough like the Super Cubs, but it’ll definitely have to be modified to ride well on dirt. The good thing is that you’ll find parts and people who can work on it all over Asia. Ironically though, maybe not Japan because it’s made for developing countries. I hear Japanese DIY mechanics are having to wait for parts they order online.
