Beginning, Middle, End - the SIMPLEST way to tell your story
มุมมอง 1.1K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
At school they told you a story has a beginning, middle and end - but what did that mean? Well, here's what it means: Beginning - the old order, characterised by assumptions, imperfect knowledge Middle - the arrival of chaos, unexpected change, knocking you off course End - adaptation, lessons learned, creating a new order. You can tell any story using this basic structure and just three senten...

Six months ago, tech boss Alex Afshar came onto the Storyteller Tactics Slack channel and asked for advice: "We're exhibiting at a tech conference. How can we stand out from the crowd?" And I said, "why don't you treat your conference stand like a story? Use cards from Storyteller Tactics to make sure you're getting your audience's attention, just like a good storyteller would." Your boss doesn't care about your career (certainly doesn't care as much as you do). And here's another uncomfortable truth: your boss might not even realise what you do. Unless... well, you know what's coming next. Unless you can tell a story that gets noticed and remembered. #storytelling Find your career-shaping story at pipdecks.com

3:58 How do you "connect with people" who are not listening, don't want to know, and can't be bothered?
Try asking questions and listening to them. If you're in an online space like this, read the comments and ask questions.
@@SteveRawlingStoryteller excellent answer, except for the part that I’m asking about after doing that, let’s say 100 times, how do you connect to people who are not listening, don’t want to know, and can’t be bothered?
Anthony you are a ⭐ well done!
this should be turned into a gpt
Hello. I have bought the deck but there is one thing that I am struggling with. When I use a recipe card, it gives me the story ingredients. But it is not clear how I mix all of them. Each part of the text, for example, paragraph, is one card?
Sorry for the slow reply Bruno - I am much more active on the Pip Decks customer Slack channel, where I always answer customer questions within a week. You can find us here: pipdecks.com/pages/community?srsltid=AfmBOorNSXGOfZSlHuCpBw6ESqd3YDuh8FweJQ5t1th22EmWt5sclbhX Meanwhile... the Recipe cards are more like buffet options, to be honest. They are suggestions to take as much or as little as you need from each of the five cards listed on the back. It's easier to explain if you give me a concreted example. Come find me on the Slack channel and ask a specific question about how you're using the cards.
I've been reading and watching about these cards so much this week. They look awesome! Definitely going to get involved!
Really helpful talk and a lot of goldnuggets here. Still find it hard to use my pip deck cards because I am just at the beginning of using them (even though i have them already for a year) but this whole storytelling thing is easy to understand but exceptionally hard to master. Do you have any more ressources for a coach/mentor youtuber who wants to give as much value for a certain topic in short videos of about 10-25 minutes as possible? My biggest issue right now is that people tend to drop off way faster than what TH-cams "best practise" average viewer retention would be. So I need to craft better stories around my topics but I really don't know where to start :( Thank you! :)
Lots of tips and some good case studies with other video-marketing folk on this blog - check out the interview with Bryan Driscoll in particular. guides.pipdecks.com/storyteller-tactics/how-to-get-started-with-storyteller-tactics/
Thank you for the opportunity. It's been a fun conversation.
You could create a storytelling expansion for individuals not in the sales industry.
👋 Thanks for having me!
This would be a great tool for people entering and working the Performing Arts! Ive been intriqued by Storytelling for years and read "The Hero With A Thousand Faces" years ago and few other storytelling books Like "Enter the Woods" and its fascinated me the links of how a good story is hard Wired Into our DNA! How would the Storytelling Tactics cards help a Actor/Performer to tune their or sharpen the skills Steve?
There are so many ways that stories help - but I suspect if you are an actor/performer, you know this already. Storyteller Tactics is first and foremost a business tool. I would suggest you should look for TH-cam accounts, books and podcasts by experienced actors if you're after tips on improving those skills.
in the beginning.... stories are important.
Thanks Simon - and people can see Simon's breakdown of this ad here: th-cam.com/video/mzTkMNQ0Rjo/w-d-xo.html
An excellent insightful discussion, I am really glad i have discovered this conversation which has some real depth. Thank you for these tips on archetypes

hey man I am 18 year old, no job no cash and still in school, any tips for me?
Well, in terms of storytelling - the content of our cards is all available, for free, on our website, so you can read my storytelling tips here pipdecks.com/pages/storyteller-tactics In terms of general life/work advice - get into work as fast as you can, any work, any job. Do it as well as you can for six weeks, then ask your boss how you could do it better. See what happens. Even if it's a crap job, at least you're learning how to show up on time and help other people. And if it's not a crap job, maybe it'll lead to something better.
Volume too low
You desperately need to work on your volume. The guest is fine. You are quiet. I've noticed this is every video of yours I've tried to watch. Fix whatever you need to fix. Turn whatever up you need to turn up. Your volume is very low
That’s funny as in “that’s humorous” or “that’s peculiar”? Or both?
Parents sell ideas to their children to make their bed, etc. I love the pip decks! They are beautiful to look at and hold, and is an excellent tool! They are exactly what I needed. I consider myself to be bad at telling stories and your decks are changing that! Thank you!
Wow, I am really impressed with how you interpreted this one particular card and used it for your presentation. Very well done and congratulation to your epic pitch, Sheryl. Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring 👍💥💗🙂
Just bought my first deck. Looking forward to great things. Thanks for posting this👍
This series is just what I needed. Thank you!
Just found your channel Steve really interesting content on a subject I’d not come across before on you tube.
Any Plans to make a special Kit for TH-camrs?
Great Examples for each. It would be perfect if there would be a special discount for the ones who already bought "Story teller Tactiques"
Great Perspective. Thanks for being there. Good to have all in one video as well.
Guy is a gifted natural! Thank you!!!!
What a load of nothing, you just did an ad read without actually telling us why it is a good product or where it came from… this is just a classic get rich quick knowledge scam
How is it get rich quick? It took me thirty years! :))
I wish i could havee it😢
The best explanation I've come across - clear and concise. I'm working on a video on how to do this in Miro.
Do you show the mechanics of story telling?
Not in this video Joshua, but there are plenty of walkthroughs and Ask the Author sessions where I do.
Does the story telling yactic has a expansion pack?
Loveee it
These talks help to get a sense if these cards are legit the more you put out and the more it applies to most people the more interested i am in the other card packs
i recently bought the storyteller tactics + vault and saw a live video in there is there a way to be a part of the group is it free ???
Go to the pipdecks.com site and follow links to the Community page, you'll find the info on regular sessions there
Is the Miro board still available? I don’t see a link to be able to use on slack.
This is awesome thanks
Really great session, thanks for sharing!
Can this help someone to write a whole book?? My brother has retired from 30 years law enforcement and has talked about writing. Seems this could kick start him into launching. Thank you in advance!!
Angela as your name says you are an Angel .Thank you so much for all your help at the day centre. You positively impacted my life and for many others local residents in Manchester.
I love Pip Decks. Could you work on an evaluation deck? :D
How are the Story Tactics doing? Selling well?
Just to follow up, this is meant as a genuine question. I am curious if the Tactics are making any inroads in the culture
This was actually really helpful, thanks!
Why wouldn't you just edit the video down to the 10 seconds of the most vital parts.
This was an amazing session to watch as I start on my Pip Deck journey. I also feel like a bit of a double agent since making a career pivot during Covid and experiencing the "golden thread effect" as new and amazing opportunities that I'm genuinely interested in continue to flow my way. So many knowledge gems were dropped :-) Thank you for making this time well spent and continued success to you both!
