    This brings back memories. In high school, I lived in Missoula. Used to ride up to the Snowbowl overlook at least a couple times a week and sit on that rock ledge at the top. It was back in the early 90's and the trees up there were much shorter, making for a better view. Thanks for posting this!

    It really is one stupid mistake. When I was at post canyon I went on the trail for little kids and I went over the really tiny rollers and my foot slipped off my pedal and my pedal spinned back around and it hit my shin really hard and I lost 2-4 inches of skin.

    We just went up and over Sheep Mountain yesterday -- 27ish miles up and down, and about 5,700 feet of climbing from my house in the Rattlesnake. The climb was strong work and the descent was game on. Sheep Mountain North is chunky with some very techy switchbacks, as you discussed. But wow, that East Fork trail was somewhat menacing, with roots, loose rock, mud, creek, climbing and, most importantly, so narrow that you could crash off the trail at nearly anytime. Good work, as usual, DrV. Our trip was pretty much the trip that you endured. Both dangerous and fun!

    What level of rider would you consider yourself? Intermediate…advance? Trying to gauge what kind of trails would be doable for me

    • @drvmtbtrails
      @drvmtbtrails 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fairly advanced but not expert. I can ride almost any sanctioned trail I have been to including double blacks and technical pro-lines (with the exception of large jumps/airs). Having said that, this trail in particular is not too difficult if you can handle most black trails. Almost all the features have ride arounds and can be avoided and none of it is what I would consider super steep.

      You’re gonna have a blast, such a good trail system. You can just use your phone paired with the Trailforks app (paid) or MTB Project (free, but sometimes less complete). A dedicated gps isn’t really necessary.
