Go Pacers!
Your awesome please keep posting these!!!
Paskal Siakam is by far the best NBA player in history.
Love this team! They are really missing their defensive pieces. Nesmith, Sheppard, and Jackson are all what made this team so great. Mathurin, Walker, and Furphy are great, but their inexperience really shows and don't have the explosiveness/hustle as the previous 3....
I would try to convince Janelle Salaun to come over from the Euroleauge. Seems like a good fit with all the things you mentioned and she’s a good defender.
She played well with Clark, and the President has said they want to play fast... so why would they get rid of her? Besides she was their best defender in half court, gave Aja problems. I really hope this is not a sign they want to slow things down
Such a huge mistake to let her go....
No reason to protect a RFA contract unless you want to overpay for them in the future. You would end up in a situation where your roster construction depends entirely on how much value other teams will offer those players and you will lose flexibility. Unless that player is basically a defacto number 1 player, you don't normally pick a bench player as a RFA because that's how you overpay players that have limited use in the future and get these "deadweight" contracts that you can't do anything with. Fever did a good job by not falling for that trap and leaving their options open. They're still able to offer her a contract, though at a fair market value that they want to afford--which other teams can match or surpass as much as they want. Fever got 600k cap space to pursue like 4 players with. Obviously, they'll use 250k core value to retain Mitchell... Leaving them with like 350k to fill 3 roster spots with. They got 2 top 20 draft picks that are like 150k and so that leaves them with 200k to spend on the last player. If they want to pursue the Satou Sabally trade, then they got more than enough cap space to send Smith + Wallace over to Dallas and help take some of the contract cap space that Dallas would have lost with Satou--giving them more options to fill out their roster with more talent. It just makes sense for them to not waste their cap space on 3.5 PPG roster spots with half of their games being injured. If GSV don't offer her a good contract, she can come back for maybe 85k to 100k ballpark range.
CHI and CON will be stuck having to overpay Carter, Onyenwere, and Carrington's contracts next year... So, Fever will be lucky to avoid that ordeal and still could cash in on players that they want in the off-season.
Explain core to me. Even if core mitchell can she still leave?
GSV has pretty much sold out their season tickets for the year. They are also selling a tremendous amount of jerseys. Martin will help with the jerseys. In FA, the Fever should offer Erica Wheeler or Kristy Wallace and their 2nd for Kate Martin. I am not saying Kate Martin is this good player. She is a good leader. She is average offense and very average defender. She cannot get her own shot. Her and CC are special together. She can hit wide open 3's. She can hit mid range shots. She can run the floor and catch passes from CC at a high level. She is a really good back door player who is very good at hitting layups. You need a top PG to put Kate Martin in these positions. Martin is a seller of merchandise and will not touch a cent of it.
I think they protected Berger over Dantas and Fagbenle. True PG's are few in the WNBA. Backups are typically 2-guards. Berger can play the 1 and the 2. 4 & 5's are a dime a dozen in this league. GSV picked up 7 international players. None probably will come over before the new TV contract kicks in 2026. They are using most of those 7, to pick up extra draft picks and trades. Fagbenle should get free agency offers and GSV will have to match or let her walk.
Yes. And Berger has Indiana roots and if they use and promote her correctly she can be a pretty big asset for the team and give Clark some much needed rest so she isn’t playing 38+ minutes per game. She wants to play but it’s fine to take short breaks when playing at a fast pace.
Great insight, thanks!
Trade Smith
Soon
We lost Temi 😭😭😂
I don’t get it fever say they wanna run and they got rid of Temi
Bad decision by the Fever. She was such a leader, and fan favorite in addition to be a very good role player.
@ new GM and CO talk about how smart they are. And do something like this.
@@razmikyakyazarian 1st decision they make, and it looks like Sides and Dunn might be smarter than the "new look". If they slow this offense down intentionally it will not go in their favor.
There was no guarantee they could keep her and get free agents. She's a restricted free agent. She's also injured a lot.
Team isn’t complete yet. They will be running. Let them cook, they are just getting started. Temi is awesome and fast but she tires quickly playing at a Feverish pace. So does Dantas but that’s another issue.
From what I’ve read about the expansion. Free agents weren’t part of the 6 players being protected. If that’s the case, Kelsey wouldn’t have to be one of the 6 players being protected. So, if we take Kelsey off the list, we have CC, AB, LH and NS. That leaves 2 others. I’d guess GB. And DD instead of TF. I’m sad to see Temi go. I had hoped she would be protected. But I wish her the best and will be cheering her on as a Valkyrie.
I’m sad too but I think with the team reaching out to other free agents and kind of seeing where they are at, they found someone who can replace Temi but not necessarily Dantas. Just a theory but I’d expect to see a lot of player movement in the next 2 months. Fans are going to go crazy, both positively and negatively. Because that’s what fans do. They have no idea how to run a pro basketball team, just how to voice opinions.
Core eligible free agents had to be protected
Fever wants to keep Kelsey and make room to bring in another big free agent. And a they have contract players.
Getting Katie was a bad choice and shes super expensive
Well you can talk to Christy Sides if you have a problem with that contract. Same with Erica Wheeler. 2 bench players that are eating up almost 25% of the total cap space for the team. Makes me sick. To be fair, they thought KLS would do better last season but she’s taking some time to bounce back to her old form.
@@ericMT LOL she's too tall and too slow, just not very atheletic, DeWanna Bonner passes her like passing a 70 yr old. Good we don't have Sides anymore, we really have to check Indiana's management's IQ if they would have kept Sides for next year.
Katie is horrible and we r stuck with her another year
I bet they protected Grace
Temi Fagbenle selected by Golden State. Video tomorrow!
Thanks!
If they core Mitchell, they don't have to protect her. And 100% agree with you on Smith.
I would like the Fever to offer their 2nd round draft pick tonight to GSV for Megan Gustafson. Seems like they will protect Martin and not Gustafson. Gustafson is a much better player than Dantas.
I would replace Fagbenle with Berger. Fagbenle is older and possibly injury prone. WNBA is short on quality point guards and so is the WCBB draft. 3 & 4 are a dime a dozen. A quality back up PG is rare in the WNBA. Plus CC will have to play defense this year. Meaning she cannot average 36+ minutes per game. Berger can also back up the 2.
If quality 3's and 4's are so prevalent, why is the Fever so lacking in them??
Fever absolutely need another guard, KM and CC can’t play 40 minutes a game. Maybe not the primary thing they need, but it’s absolutely on the list
Protect CC, Ab, Mitchel, Hull, Fagbenle, & Berger
My list to ptotect CC, Berger, Hull, AB, KM, ?
I'd like to see the Fever get Dolson. She's big, a bit nasty, decent D, and a great 3 ball. allowing her to go to the perimeter on O would help free up space for AB and create some serious match up difficulties
Hey Tony. Always appreciate your Fever related coverage.
When do they reveal the lists of available players? …great post.. thanks!
Let's discuss the next Knicks vs. Pacers game in February.
I like both Temi and Dantas but I'm of the opinion you protect Berger over either. You're almost certainly trading Nalyssa for someone else who can play the 4 (but more naturally within the Indiana system), so what we're really asking is: do the Fever need a 4-5 more than a 1-2-3 off the bench? And I actually don't think they do. Nalyssa averaged fewer than 25 minutes per last year and Aliyah under 31. Clark was over 35, Mitchell at 32, and even Hull- once she ended up in the starting 5- was averaging over 30. The Fever were just fine when Nalyssa and Boston were off the floor. The drop-off was significant when Clark, Mitchell, and post-break Hull were sitting. Which tells me that bench depth for those positions- giving White legitimate options that don't make the team fall to pieces- is more important than anything going on at the 4 and 5. Enter Berger. She is a much more natural fit for the role they tried to shoehorn Wheeler into last year- someone you can use to spell both Clark and Mitchell and even occasionally Hull. A Clark-Mitchell-Berger rotation isn't disastrously small and is plausible for a few minutes a game. That leaves Samuelson, if she returns to any kind of form, spelling the 4 and sometimes the 3. Which makes more sense than the other way around? She was way too slow to consistently guard wings but she's faster than Dantas while being able to perform the same role of spreading the floor. Plus, there are good draft choices, who will likely fall to around 8, who can play a 4 off the bench. Janiah Barker comes to mind, immediately. Even Aneesah Morrow can probably play the 4 in the W, for a few minutes, if pressed, and would be a fantastic stretch 3 off the bench if they can teach her to shoot 3s. In contrast, there aren't many guards in the draft who have any size and none who is likely to fall to the Fever at 8 and none, other than Paige and Miles, who would even be as good at Berger at the 1, nevermind making a reasonable backup option at the 2 and 3.
Fever need a center. Move Boston to forward. Keep Temi. Smith needs to go where her gf approves of.
@@karencarlisle2887 I've heard this before and I gotta say I don't understand it. Aliyah Boston is 6'5 220 pounds. That is...not small for a big. She was 7th in the league in bounds and 9th in the league in blocks. Sure, she couldn't completely shut down Aja Wilson. But no one can completely shut down Aja Wilson. And in their last 2 meetings, when Boston was finally in shape, Wilson shot just 17-43, or under 40%. Plus she locked down Jonquel in their last meeting. She's a perfectly fine center.
@@Obilisk18 I know her game against Atlanta, the last one, she was one that won that game for the Fever. Maybe it was Sides rotation and with Stephanie coming n things should look alot better. A good coach knows rotation something Sides lacked n.
White covered several IU games when Berger played there. Berger is an equally good passer without the risky turnovers. In her final year her A/TO ratio was better than CC in college. She'd be a good back up for CC and better on D.
@@nigeltufnel775 Eh, I'm as high on Berger as anybody but nobody is as good a passer as CC. Half of Clark's bad passes are laziness in the half court. I.e, the play Sides drew up is for someone else and Clark just casually passes the ball as soon as she crosses the half-court. That'll be drilled out of her by White. The other half are "good turnovers"- passes in transition which, if they work, give your team a 65% convert opportunity and if they don't just lead to a dead ball. They're functionally the same as a missed shot. What I'd say is that Berger is a natural point guard (whereas Wheeler feels like a shooting guard who became a point because of her size) who makes excellent reads defensively. Get her in the rotation consistently and you can afford to sit Clark 6-7 mins per game without being outscored by 8 in those minutes. Good enough.
Really appreciate you and Scott Agnes giving actual journalistic approaches to the Indiana fever. I feel like that’s just something the WNBA is really missing with their media. Lol.
So sad
Great report! Thank you!

Glad you’re posting this. The actual Indiana pacers page is only posting Carlisle lately.
Reality is the Pacers Suck 😂
I hope Pacers can adjust their state well
Title is a bit misleading, raptors missing many key starters. A more apt title would be pacers dropped game to depleted raptors. Miles turner out.
@@LessThanJavier the pacers were missing 6 players and 3 starters. What’s misleading about calling that banged up?
Bro ...... Raptors don't wanna beat nobody. We are tanking for real. It's just unfortunate that we beat you. We are following the process. We want to win the tank warfare. What Toronto fans dread right now is a winning steak. We don't want it. Not this year
Why is James Johnson on the roster?
Tough night
That is no excuse to lose to a team who is 2-11 missing their two best players Scottie Barnes and Emanuel Quickley, as well as other top end rotation players such as Olynyk, Bruce Brown, Jakobe Walter, Bruno Fernando. They were without 6 core players. Yes it was a back to back but Pacers had their best two while the Raptors did not.
