1988 Toyota pickup not running fixed!
My 1988 Toyota pickup would start but only run for a couple of seconds. This is a video on what my root problem was and then some adjustments made after i got it to run.

After 900 hours of use, this 2009 Kawasaki mule 610 started leaking oil around the engine block. In this video I tear down, replace the gasket, and reassemble mule.

    ECM is basically the computer ain't it? If so, if you replace it youre going to have issues getting it smogged for those living in states that have that

    Thanks for the video years later, but it helped me now. One thing I noticed that many times it can be the idle air control valve located at the throttle body. It's worth a try for you guys if you're still having idle problems.

    So I think I have the same problem. I started it one morning so it could warm up I went back inside and once I can outside I just shut up. I tried to start it up again but it would just crank

    Literally having the exact same problem. I’ve checked everything. But I haven’t changed the ecu. I also haven’t took the top off the VAF. Should I grab an ecu or adjust the vaf first? This is driving me crazy!!

      @brianp8144 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can find a ecm on the cheaper side I'd go for that first, I'm not too keen fooling with the afm. Look by your antenna they're notorious for leaking or try to find a burnt spot on yours beforehand. What exactly have you done to your truck to try & solve your problem? Don't give up, you'll get it figured out. Best of luck.

      try with the Vaf first

      Just an fyi for anyone having this problem…it was the ECU!!

    • @zimarokas

      @@MikeJones-fd9kt so you solved the problem ?changing the ECU?

    • @MikeJones-fd9kt
      @MikeJones-fd9kt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zimarokas yes that fixed it. Before I changed the ecu when I’d turn the truck to the on position instead of the check engine light coming on and staying solid it would come on and “flicker” after literally a month of research I found a guy that said that a bad ecu would cause that. So I bought one, plugged it in and the check engine light stayed solid in the on position. it literally fired right up after I tried to start it!

    I own a 85 Big Red! Over the years I've owned a Honda 250SX, 200X, Yamaha Tri-Z, Honda 250R, and now the Big Red. I love how easy it is to do maintenance on them vs my old quad.

    I've had two 250ES Big Reds, both 1985 models. There's just something special about them that Four wheelers don't have. I grew up on three wheelers as a kid and loved them, and learned to respect them. To bad they went out of business.

    Keep that thing! Those old three wheelers are getting rarer and rarer every year. I have an atc250R.

    I have a 1985 that I bought a year ago for $75 , but then spent $800 to fix it up. I have garage full of fast quads and a RZR , but my Big Red is the machine I ride most often .

    I was just given a 1980 110 that has sat outside for over 35 years. The tank was gone and the seat pan was rust dust with the largest piece about the size of a quarter. The fenders are all one piece but they are rough. Yours is awesome and I would definitely spend $45 for a seat cover. Exposed rotted wet foam is awful. I believe the shift pattern changed on all ATC in 1985 so even the last year of the 110 has the new shift pattern. I had a 1986 200x and it shifted up as well. Thanks for a great video.
