Kuala Lumpur - Pedestrian Friendly?
มุมมอง 1.7Kหลายเดือนก่อน
The capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, is a place that I have been living in now for 6 months and I can safely say that you don’t need a car here to get around. The city has been designed with pedestrians and pedestrian access in mind. In this video I take you on a walk from one side of the city centre to the other using underground and over ground enclosed, air conditioned pedestrian walk...

Did you ever find out? Been wondering for months now 🥲
No idea unfortunately
You see that malaysia is not like in U.S where walkways is under Department of Transportation. So in Malaysia the local authority or JKR, DBKL, MBJB MBIP MPPG MDKT they built motor ways first but not the walkway along side. And you see that the Head of Department of LOcal Authority like DBKL, MBPJ, MBSA, and Ministers, even Minister of Transport himself ANTHONY LOKE and Minister of Local Government NGAR KOR MING dont use MRT LRT much where they have to endure long walk using walkways from home to MASS PUBLIC TRANSPORT MRT LRT ERL halts/stations/nodes etc THE mayor of DBKL, MBPJ, MBSA, etc and Ministers, even Minister of Transport himself ANTHONY LOKE and Minister of Local Government NGAR KOR MING goes to work and back to their home in comfort cold air conditioned car - hardly you see them even once in a month let alone a week - so how can you expect them to realise or experience difficulties of the citizen in K.L -Msia and Malaysia generally; have to going thru the badly built and design of walkways-many of them are not connected with kerb ramps, no drop kerb/ refuge island on road median to pass thru the roadways? Not to mention dangerous high kerb that slow down the passing of pedestrian in the midst of high volume car traffic ways There is is this so call guideline by Ministry of Housing or KPKT(Kementerian Perumahan dan KeraJaan TempaTan) under Minister NGAR KOR MING , GARISPANDUAN REKABENTUK SEJAGAT that mostly emphasized the provision of Disabled Friendly Walkways but I doubt that NGAR KOR MING himself is aware that this Guidelines produced by his MINISTRY exist all these years This guideline jkt.kpkt.gov.my/sites/default/files/2022-02/Pekeliling_KSU_KPKT_Bil._7_Tahun_2011__0.pdf for pedestrian walkways is hardly used by the PBT or Local Government in Malaysia, let alone the Ministry of housing / KPKT or the JKR ( Public Work Deparment) You can dowload the PDF guideline here jkt.kpkt.gov.my/sites/default/files/2022-02/Lampiran_GP_Universal_Design.pdf
Would much rather live in Malaysia than the USA. Every place has positives and negatives walhamdulillah 3ala kulli 7al
@@AbdurahiimRoberts that is great brother, I appreciate what you commented about K.L, K.L is getting better in term of pedestrian friendly areas, but there remain many things need to be done in term of Guideline and Acts regarding walkways provision in Malaysia

One of shop lot requirement is 'kaki lima' or pavement or sidewalk or footpath what ever you called it and we normally utilize it to avoid hot sun. But some shops put their product on the kaki lima thus preventing ppl using it. Other places hope the big tree will cover from the tropical hot sun
Nope.. it only become pedestrian friendly when u go to park. KL is car centric, get a car. KL is well connected by highways. i wish KL more pedestrian friendly, but who gonna walk at 32'c outside anyway, that why KL full of mall, malaysian just love aircond... and we are the 3rd most obese country in asia... hehe
Look, I just came from Kuwait a country that I love however in Kuwait you really have to have a car wherever you are otherwise you’ll be stuck. I’ve been in KL for 6 months now and had very little need for a car. I’m sure KL is car friendly too but the area I’m living in IS pedestrian friendly. The whole point of the video that you probably didn’t watch, is to show that I got from one part of the city to the other inside airconditioned under and above ground walkways. The Obesity part is diet and lifestyle. People have a choice.
Bro, walkways is heavily use during peak working hours i.e earling morning and late afternoon/evening and so the government i.e the Majis Bandaraya/perbandaran need to provide this in orderly manner and planned simultaneously when ever road is built . In malaysia road/motorways are built first, walkway comes second/third/last , this is when you walkways end abruptly

Just ignore her, in fact him as he is an Indonesian cyber tropper bloke pretending to be a Singaporean girl just spamming and insulting anything about Malaysia and have much time on his hands to do that literally on any Malaysian related videos. There are a few of them and many Indonesian TH-cam channels dedicated for that purposes., most of them are Chinese Indonesians, or Chindo but also Muslim Indonesians which is a bit sad really.
Two of the most notorious ones are @Natalie_Chu_SG and @Suhanjayalian. Pure evil.
@@zaharizak that’s unfortunate but we get all sorts of people lurking around… My wife is Indonesian and we are very happy to be living here in Malaysia. I can assure you that Indonesian people are 99.99999% extremely lovely people. Just a very tiny minority that make lots of noise.

It depends in which part of Kuala Lumpur you are located. Some are pedestrian friendly, most are not. If you’re in a affluent area like in golden triangle of Bukit Bintang/CBD, then facilities are top notch.
