My cousin Russ who was a good mate of J in high school joined me on a drive from Sydney to Kingscliff,we went to the Oxley household to meet Jeremy and persuaded him to come for a surf at DBah. he hadn't surfed for over 3 months, his Pipedream board was dusty under the house. He paddled out in a pair of daggy speedos but as the first wave approached, he had paddled inside everyone, he spun himself around on the board and took off fin first and stood up goofy, as the board swapped ends on about a fair dinkum 4 foot wave he turned it straight up the wave to a massive, exposed fin re-entry right in front of me. A couple of nights later he was joined by Peter and I think Bill on drums at a local hall and they played a few of the songs that would be on the Blue album. I knew I'd met a talented human. I am so pleased this footage has turned up as I think people didn't believe me when I explained what I had seen that day. I was about 17 or 18..78 0r 79. BTW, his art was also genius.

I remember seeing Sunnyboys at the Annandale Hotel all those years ago and being blown away. Seeing the lines outside of their reunion gig as Kids in Dust spoke volumes of the place they hold in the hearts of not only Sydneysiders but Australians all over the country. They still and will always rule!!

I would be his opponent, one of them, in the finals on a few occasions, I couldn't quite beat him on each occasion, Jeremy 1st and me either 2nd or 3rd, he was good😎

I ADORED the Sunnyboys during the ‘80’s, watched them on Countdown, bought all their 45’s! Then they split, around the same time as the English band, ‘The Jam’. Then they had a reunion, not too sure if original lineup, in early 1988 and I watched them play in Adelaide at ‘The Venue’. I recall watching Jeremy throw up on a table before he went onstage. Disappointing performance. Great to see he’s recovered. 😊

Jeremy was such eye candy back in the day - tall dark and very handsome with the most fantastic voice. What a damn shame he suffered from schizophrenia and missed some valuable years of his youth and talent. I was always into disco when Sunnyboys were playing around the traps back in 1979/‘80’s. I have only recently become an obsessed fan of them, but all too late. I am the same age as Jeremy. I so regret not being more into them in their heyday; how much I’ve missed. I love every song they have released. ‘Too young to despair’, albeit not all of the original Sunnyboys lineup, is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard, yet it’s not on iTunes to download - what a shame😢.

The piano that plays throughout this is just gorgeous, the EP heard before I realised I had met J on a surf trip North just a year earlier…wonderful times, Huge talent in each member of the band..love always.

Jeremy Oxley ! Nothin wrong with you mate ! You are the legend of Sunnyboys ! All those so called friends/family didn't know how to treat you ! Genius ! Your brother couldn't handle that you kick his ass in everything. He should have embraced you !
