bought our 77 se6a c 1980 and it was used for daily commute by my mother and we also holidayed as family, towing a caravan - so yes, it is a v practical every day car. - The construction and simplicity means nothing has changed in that regard :) Now needs full restoration that unfortunately hasnt been possible due to lack of funds...Totally original with nice light interior and white coachwork, owned nearly half a century :) - Even still have the classic caravan (also needing restoration) we used to tour with - They look regal together :) Hugely underated car!

Congratulations on your latest purchase! Hope that you enjoy hundreds of hours driving in your VAZ-2101 (Lada 1300 - license built Fiat 124). Personally my favourite Lada is the VAZ-2103 (Lada 1500 - with quad circular headlights and upmarket interior).

This evokes happy memories as a kid. My Dad had a blue reliant Scimitar GTE from 1976 to 1986. I believe it was the 1971 Se6 variant. It had the 3-speed automatic transmission 😊.

I've had two .got a 1974 one now putting 7.5 Chevy Big Block for Drag racing. Please make more vids of yours .Keep up the good work 👏

A good way to combat condensation on the windscreen & windows is to have a wiper inside the car & use it by hand - it's very effective!

Best of luck, I enjoyed my Scimitar SE 5 for 70,000 miles 28mpg below 90mph on Autobahn with 18 gal fuel tank Regularly covered 180km between signposts every hour. V relaxing drive with high ratio back axle and overdrive 100mph at 3,000 rpm 4 hour , 350 m evening Autobahn trips from Munster towards Bavaria for ski w/e Rear shock replaced every 12k due to 4” of travel, 3rd gear every 20k as it would cruise at 100mph in 3rd gear with overdrive, back axle lasted 50k Cooling system & electrics troublesome - reputation for being flammable, fabulous fun. Successor to a Scimitar GT V6 Coupe

I have a Scimitar too, not quite a daily driver now I'm retired but it is my main car and I love it.

Old cars suffer from the domino effect, you fix 1 thing, 2 others break down or stop working. In my time as a car mechanic, I have never seen such a clogged coolant connection.

The gear change position was the 1st thing , it’s a diesel!

Nice to know you still have the 1800 low dash NK... lovely car. The rear brakes don't have automatic adjustment and that caught me out, leading to a rear cylinder popping many years ago... 😀
