I remember reading erinyes were rarer because they were formerly angels and worked mostly to keep devils lawful and exact punishment. My personal cannon has Zariel arriving as an angel with a human warband, being defeated and corrupted to be put in place as archdevil, later imprisoned and usurped by Bel, then taken from captivity and put back in power when Bel lost Asmo's favor. Only problem with that history is it squashes a whole "corruption - first period as archdevil - brief takeover by Bel - Zariel back in power " sequence into a shorter timespan than feels right for the overall pace of devil politics.

I swear I’m going on this for the third Time within 2 days lol. Planning a “get the big picture” effect on my players. Bringing it to full study has been needed for quite a bit. Way I’m taking the trade, it’s mostly, if not only, corrupt souls (and ones that got to that point.) To material plane? Oh ya evil. To the big picture entities? Well they got to go somewhere. And that’s where all this flows into a trade.

the idleglen story is the reason zariel went to elturiel to muster up a larger force and storm avernus, she had been demanding from lethandor and the other gods to help end the blood war and then strike down the devils after the fact but because of the pact primevil they refuse, hence zariel needing a mortal army to march with her. not exactly sure how any of this was consfusing for you

This is hard to like. You spend forever talking about how you're going to talk about the Blood war. Every video so far.

What I don't understand is why devil's would fight in Hell. If they can be destroyed there, and demons can't , why wouldn't they take the fight to the Abyss, where they would just reform in Hell if killed there, but demons would be destroyed forever. Demons have nothing to loose fighting in Hell, and the quicker they're killed, the faster they are returned to home, and can't leave for a period of time. And devil's, in the other hand is screwed. I'd be like , f*ck no, send me on a suicide mission to the Abyss to kill something. We're I'd either set up shop, selling silver weapons to demons on their way to hell, or selling info to demon for a cushy position on the midnight island as some Succubus's pool boy. Either or has great prospects , and if things go south, I die, and go back to Hell, with none the wiser.

My theory about her fall and Ride is more along the lines that Asmodeus was behind it all, manipulating Zariel into doing this from the start. We know that Zariel, even as an angel, had become hotheaded, aggressive, even a bit bloodthirsty, and wanted the celestials to go to war, but was forbidden from doing so. We also know that Zariel was present at the Trial of Asmodeus, way back in cosmic history, where Asmodeus made his case to the angels (and even convinced Primus) that he was justified in corrupting mortals because they were used in the blood war to fight the demons, and that Zariel even caused a fight with the other angels by being hotheaded at the trial. So I think that Asmodeus saw her as a potential target to recruit and has been working on turning her ever since then by stoking her anger and carelessness. This eventually involved letting some demons led by Yeenoghu escape from the Blood War into the Material Realm, knowing that this would push her over the edge and she'd recklessly storm into the lower planes for revenge, at which point she could be captured, fully corrupted, and turned to serve him. For the timeline's sake, and because it feels off to me to have the Ride take place so recently in history, I think it works better to change the date and say that the Ride happened many hundreds or even thousands of years ago. That lets the other stories about Zariel and Bel fighting over leadership of Avernus simply happen after she fell, rather than have to work a story about two Zariels or the ride being a act.

I think it's just as likely that some abishai would fill normal ranks, auxiliaries would also include yugoloths, though they would more likely fill the same role as mercenaries in roman forces, supplementing in their own lines apart
