    Any chance of having options of a different liner captive 0.032 brass shim for maybe a 0.036 in stainless steel and thicker for blocks needing counterbore repairs. Also, is oil control directional like OEM one?

    I would like it a lot more if I could just order ipd parts without fooling with middle men dealers that fail to return phone calls or have no idea about any of the technical aspects of the products they are supposed to be selling.

    This makes a lot of sense. I've seen so many cylinder liners that start to leak coolant, even factory brand. Cast iron is porous and steel is machined from one solid piece. My question is, does the cylinder liner , because it is machined from a billet (I believe), does it still retain lubrication in the cylinder walls the same as a cast sleeve??

    Use anerobic sealant when possible and lots less risk of trouble. Ultimately good clean flat gasketed surfaces should not need sealant.

    If your product is so much better than oem why is it that your dealers offering overhaul kits have no warranty what so ever. Specificaly a dealer by the name of enhanced power products, they mention that the kits being sold for a 3406 are designed for industrial and off road applications and thus carry no warranty. And that is for the standard inframe kit not the big bore kit.

    Hi. Everything is great, but a few comments. Not enough money to smash the original Cummins cylinder liner? or not crashed? In the video they throw a non-original Cummins sleeve from Gray cast iron (this can be seen from the structure of the material on the shard) The original Cummins centrifuge casting technology with extensive Baianit technology followed by heat treatment results in a strong but elastic material similar to steel but with a huge carbon content, and of course, the stronger the material, the more brittle it is, which is why the complex structure of cast iron is used .. And the most important thing, surpassing the strength of the cylinder liner remains Cast Iron, which means that the coefficient of temperature expansion is equal to the material in which the cylinder liner is installed, the engine block, which means that all gaps when expanding the materials are identical. further, the tragedy in the destruction of the cylinder-piston group using a steel sleeve cannot be avoided, exactly the same as with cast iron. the piston has sufficient force and energy to split the engine block if it gets stuck. Your video is intended for an unprepared viewer, both cylinder liners that have fallen from a height are not suitable for use. And I almost forgot that cast iron is more resistant to scratches, and also has the ability to self-harden during operation, which steel is deprived of.

    Very interesting! I know from the Caterpillar side of things if a dealer finds out your using non genuine Cat parts they will retaliatee by not cutting your counter bored or denying warranty on any engine if it had any non genuine part in it say you baught a cat reman cylinder head and used non genuine liner kits no warranty on head..I do think you have a good product ..the dealers and manufacturers are trying to call all the shots.

      Yes, the IPD steel liners also apply to the QSX industrial engine. Be sure to check with your IPD distributor/engine rebuilder for proper fitment.

    But how does it wear over time? Steel liners generally wear faster than cast due to their lower carbon content. In 10000hrs of run time how does the bore wear compare? Likely the rings will wear faster too unless the bore of the liner is specially treated.

      The IPD steel liner is specifically engineered to meet or exceed the life of the standard cast iron liner. While cast iron might get some of its strength from high carbon content, steel gets its high strength from microstructure and added alloy elements (chromium and molybdenum). Additionally, IPD steel liners are induction heat treated on the inside and precision-honed to minimize bore wear and minimize oil consumption. IPD has tens of millions of miles of experience with steel liners in various applications and we are confident that wear is well controlled.
