York Ice Trail 2024
A quick look at some of this year's sculptures on the York Ice Trail. They were all starting to melt as the cold weather had given way to a warmer spell but most of the details were still there. The last one had only been carved that morning as a demonstration of how they were made.

This is from the Gainsborough Model Railway club's open day on August 26th 2023. They have these a few times a year. The "O" gauge track is laid out in the old Florence Street primary school in Gainsborough and many of the things you see are made from scratch. Beckonscot Model Village - a stroll around the village

It was originally opened in 1929 so is now nearly 100 years old, having had over 16 million visitors in that time. Farndale Daffodils walk 27.03.23

From a walk I did along the Farndale Daffodil Trail on 27.03.23 with my friend Julian. Starting from the car park at Low Mill the trail goes north, past the Daffy Caffy, to St. Mary's church. At about 2 miles each way it makes a nice afternoon stroll.

A late February walk around the gardens at Brodsworth Hall, an English Heritage property near Doncaster. The snowdrops are just finishing and the early daffodils are starting to show. This year's Flamborough Viking Fire Festival , 31.12.22. The festival remembers the time of the Vikings with fire balls, flaming torches, a Viking longboat and a large fireworks display to bring in the new year.

It was!
It’s kind of a dump. The old stuffed birds need to go. They really are off putting. It all doesn’t look safe. If they clear half the crap out of there, we might enjoy the Georgian interior architecture. I saw nothing really beautiful …..other than the silver urns in the weird case. This could be so nice and inviting. I give in 5 years….
While I was there it was commented to one of the guides about the state of the building and they said that the National Trust made a decision when they bought it to leave it exactly as it was except for making the building watertight as it had been left unattended for many years making it an "un-stately home" as they put it. The previous owner was one of the leading natural history collectors of his day and keeping stuffed animals and birds was how they did it back then.
It looks like a great place to wonder around not sure about the dear heads on the bed jajajaja
