Thank you for your very detailed answers to my questions. It’s really great that there are innovators like yourself that are willing to share your great ideas with the rest of us.
Great video and excellent modifications. I especially love the fresh water system. Two questions: 1. Did you add a UV lamp to your fresh water tank to take care of any squiggles that may get through your filtration system or do your filters take care of everything in the water? And 2, do you ever think about going total solar? That roof has room for a lot of solar panels. Anyway, great job! Enjoyed the video very much! DS
Greetings and thanks for the communication. To answer these great questions: I do not use a UV light treatment on this system. This is because I don't use the water for drinking. Our intention was to have limitless water for everything else otherwise. Since I am only on the boat for several days at a time, I just bring my drinking water. The lake intake water is filtered down through 5 filters starting at 40 micron and ending with a 1 micron filter with 2 carbon treatments along the way. So it is very clean. However, you are very correct with your logic, if I wanted to make this system into perfectly potable water I would simply add on a UV light filter treatment on the tail end. If the need ever arises, some day I may just do that. As far as solar power is concerned. It is basically totally solar only. I have 350 Watts (2 x 175) charging 200 AH of battery. It is enough to run everything without any trouble. Usually by midday I have recovered all battery power from the previous night usage, and am sitting at %100 battery charge heading into the evening. I do carry a small gas generator because sometimes the cloud cover or stormy skies will block out the sun. Though most of the time, the generator gets no use. And yes, there is plenty of room around so I am also open to adding more solar if it becomes useful. I hope this answers your questions. Have a great day.
how much this type of boat cost? I need one to escape on the weekends.
These boats are build to order. So depending on choices and build out, prices will vary alot.
So, they still manufacture these boats? Where are they located? Thanks for the video.
catamarancruisers.com located in TN
What is the overall height with Lil Hobo on the trailer?
Height is 13.5 feet sitting on trailer. This boat is about 6500 pounds. The trailer is about 2500 pounds. All together you are about 9000 (dry) + whatever you are carrying. I figure "ready to go all loaded up", you would be about 9500 pounds.
Did you pick up the boat new? Did you go pick it up at factory?
Thanks for your communication. Yes, we drove from Utah to pick up the boat new in TN! Have a great day.
@@ThisLilHobo wow that is a long tow! Would you order anything different on the boat now that you have had it for a while?
. @SerendipitySue The factory made several custom items and changes for us. Mostly like pre-wiring for solar, backup camera, electrical and water lines added for the filtration system. The pre-wiring really made it easier to install some of the items we wanted to have on this boat. Some slight changes in the layout of cabin. Otherwise, I cant really think of anything that I would have changed. Thanks for your time to communicate.
How much????😢😢
These houseboats are only built to order with a lot of variances available. You would have to contact the manufacturer to get a current price for what you would be interested in. Thanks for the communication. Have a great day.
This boat is amazing ! It's small, but it has everything in it. 😊👍
I have had a trour on that Lil Hobo. What a great set up and what a great time:)
Did you say unsinkable lol, what's the draft ?
The manufacturer claims that the draft is about 18 in. In my experience that seems about right
👍
It's a new shanty
My new favorite loop boat lol, shallow drafter
Might be a little rough crossing the West coast of Florida but 98 percent of the trip you'd be fine.
Very, Very, nice BUT60HP for that size boat/floating RV, I would think it would Struggle its little self to death.
Thanks for your communication and input. We definitely considered a larger engine. But ultimately we went with the 60 HP HIGH THRUST. It has a special propeller that is like being in low gear. Lots of low range thrust but basically no high end speed. So it maneuvers well at docks and loading trailers etc. At a lower rpm, She trolls quietly and efficiently at about 5 mph. Top speed is only about 8 or 9 mph. Yet this matched our intention, this boat does not commute. Its job is to find the next beach or bay, usually on a smaller lake. We were able to shave a hundred plus pounds in weight with a smaller engine as well as quite a bit of money savings. If our intention was to commute longer distances, we would likely have gone another way with the engine choice. Thanks again for your time to share, have a fantastic day.
Hi what is the draft on your boat? Looks pretty shallow
According to the manufacturer, it is about 18 inches. And that seems about right from actual experience. Thanks for the time to communicate and share. Have a great day.
What's the price of one of these?
These houseboats are only built to order with a lot of variances available. You would have to contact the manufacturer to get a current price for what you would be interested in. Thanks for the communication. Have a great day.
Really nice! Like your upgrades too
That is super nice. Everything is in its place and all the requirements for a nice leisurely short or long voyage.
awesome 💯
So it's basically my college apartment, but on pontoons. Nice.
MH ..............probably cleaner ?????
Where can we buy one and can it be pulled behind a truck? Great Video!! Thanks
This model can be purchased new from the factory with a custom fit trailer. Occasionally a used one will become available to the market. These boats are trailerable, and can be hauled around, which is exactly what I do. There website is www.catamarancruiser.com. Thanks for your time to communicate and share.
great little house boat. Thank you for sharing... Catamaran makes a great product. We have a 1991 51' Catamaran Aqua and it is a great boat.
Thanks for your time to communicate and share.
keep the videos coming.
Thanks for the encouragement! I am new to the video world, but learning alot with every new video.
very nice houseboat mate
Thanks for the visit
Where did you buy the boat? Dealer or direct from Mfg
This boat was purchased direct from the factory. www.catamarancruiser.com/
Thanks for the tour. I hope you enjoy it for years to come
Great setup! I'm a firm believer in the LiFe4PO batteries after using them a couple of years. I like that rear head design too. That is some fantastic water out there, I can see why you would use that instead of hauling it around in a tank. I hope y'all are staying cool on these extraordinarily warm days we are having.
Thanks for the feedback! I have been enjoying your videos for along time now. I actually would love a small conversation with you soon, I have some questions about a few "lil hobo" upgrades (intellisteer) and I would welcome your experience. Hopefully we will speak soon, I will reach out. Have a great day!
@@ThisLilHobo , sounds good. You have a good one too! Thanks
Great looking boat! I really like the water filter system i need to add that to my boat. Thanks for sharing.
👍Awesome
Are those aluminum pontoons?
Thanks for your communication! These are hand fabricated sealed fiberglass hulls. They are segmented into about 3 foot sealed chambers inside. There are 10 chambers in each pontoon. I hope this helps.
Wow! Incredible! Quite the little home on the lake! Thank you for the tour!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Serene! I wanna see a tour of the inside!
