@moneymayhem2000 Please read 'Man Meets Dog' by Konrad Lorenz for a history of the evolution of dogs. Also, the vast majority of breeds today were not bred for purely aesthetic reasons but for functionality; in some respects the short legs of a Corgi are a hindrance but when herding livestock they allow it to stay low to the ground and roll away to avoid getting trampled. Of course, some breeds have remained unchanged for several centuries. Not all are the result of human intervention.

@moneymayhem2000 Corgis are actually herding dogs. They have short legs so that they can duck and roll to avoid getting kicked by cows.

@datngatrel Ok well I guess that's where are opinions differ ;) It just makes me sad that they've become so dependent on us to survive. tbh in the end its not down to what the dog wants, is what we want.

@pinkstart Ok i will change my analogy to 'selective breeding'. Following Darwins theory of evolution, you will understand that over time it is possible to change an animals distinctive features to a certain degree. This is exactly what we have done with modern day dogs. They now look utterly stupid, but modified to fit the idea of cuteness?? and social pride. With this, most dogs have also become to rely on humans to live because of snatch of intelligent instinct that was taken with the wild.

Just gos to show how stupid these genetically modified dogs are. Why not use the chair next to it, to get on the table.

@OceanFoam i do not now wat your talking about. corgis are born with short tails not now tail at all. if they do not have a tail at all its a bad spine problem.

@csnellen Corgis sometimes have splayed toes, which can result in long nails that can be heard on the floor even when properly trimmed. Also, some dogs just have longer nail beds so they can't be trimmed that short safely. My corgi Luke is like this. This video is adorableeeeee..... とても可愛いですね！

wtf, pembrokes normally DONT have tails, its a genetic trait..

Actually (to add onto the tail debate) some Pembrokes are born without the long tails, while some are indeed docked. It's illegal now some of the US to dock their tails unless they are working or show dogs. Both of my corgis have stub tails, one we have no idea about but the other was indeed born with a stub tail.

It's not mean to the dog to give it a challenge in order to get a treat. Do you ever challenge your kids in order for them to get something, or do you just give them stuff? Think about it!

@mircc Not correct. A Pemborkeshire naturally has a plume-like tail that sticks up. They used to be docked, but this is now uncommon in the UK. The Cardiganshire's tail looks more like a fox's brush.

Bad idea to teach your dog it is ok to take stuff off the table. It doesn't matter if you don't do it often...you have to be consistent.

Not all of them are docked; some are born naturally tailless. Just like a specific breed of cat is.

I don't like to see animals getting teased like that. It's a good thing dogs like to give people the benefit of the doubt so the corgi probably put it down to being an innocent mistake on the owners part the first couple times. But seeing corgi's frustration isn't fun.

Mircc is correct. Pembroke's naturally have a very small nub like tail, while Cardigan's have a traditional tail.

no it depends on the breed of corgi. the cardigan corgi has a tail and the Pembroke corgi has no tail

what are you talking about all corgis are born with tails, but some corgis' tails are cut off when they are born..
