I remember David Hirst was considered the best forward in the country at the time. With good reason because he was dynamite when he wanted to be. But for me, Lee Chapman was right up there. I think what a partnership Chapman and Hirst would’ve been for England. They are like the perfect partnership. When you look at both styles of play. Baffling… Imagine Hirst feeding off Chapman with his pace, and Hirst technical ability. They both would’ve complimented each other.

Stood in the lowfeilds terrace pen for Away fans leeds won 3-0 David Batty scoring a rare goal. You pipped The Rags to the title. The last old first Division champions. Then the Premier league came along with Sky sports and all its ugly fucking tentacles. Im an exile Mancunian what lives in Scarborough now. My last City game was three seasons ago v Norwich first game of the season. And the atmosphere was fucking pitful. And nearly 50 pound for a priveladge. That was it for me sick and tired of ludicrous ticket prices, sat with corporate and day trippers who only jumped on the football bandwagon after Euro 96, because it became also fashionable. Sick and tired of silly kick off days and times to accommodate Sky and BT Sports. City will always be my club in my blood. And maybe living over 100 mile away made the decision easier. Was in the family stand right behind the goal where spurs bagged their two goals. They had the away standing pen and the seats at the top of the south stand. Made a right racket. Loudest I’d heard at the time.

Sure i remember being at this game. I'm sure remember the Leeds fans climbing over the fences of the pens from the Lowfields to get toward the City fans.
