This spring, BASIC concluded another inspiring semester of the Latino Family Literacy Project (LFLP). Often, children from Spanish-speaking homes start school at a disadvantage compared to their English-speaking peers, which is why this program is vital to help bridge that gap and ensure they have the support needed to succeed. By preparing children for kindergarten and fostering a lifelong love of reading, bilingual children age 0-5 were provided a valuable head start. Over several weeks, families came together to build bilingual literacy skills and establish regular reading routines with their children.
