Couple of faulty knots that will certainly fail and they keep putting them out there , I believe it is just a small bit of dozens if not hundreds of things to condition Americans and other Westerners to fail at simple but must needed task. Dont believe me , just test them yourselves , tie the hitch and test it with only a few hundred pound pull and one of two things happen, 1 pulls lose for most , some can't be untied and have to be cut , slowing you down ............Why post crap that fails ?

If I had a PRACTICAL need for a knot (I don't, generally), I would never use any knot shown to me where the presenter could not immediately tell me the name of the knot. Further, some of the knots seem to be variations of known knots, not exact examples of same. Hence, it should not be given that name because variations can be inferior (sometimes vastly so) to the conventional knot. The standard way of tying a given well-known knot has stood the test of time even though the knot itself may have known weaknesses or risks. And if a knot "does not have a name" then that can only mean the knot is generally unknown or not commonly used and thus its reliability is also unknown (or more likely: it is just NOT RELIABLE, since good knots do have names). We are not reinventing the wheel. This is all common sense but some posters don't seem to have that.

Instead of piano music I wish there was a narrator explaining the pros and cons of each. I just want the simplest knot that won't come loose by pulling the other end, but also quick releases by pulling a loop on the tied end. It looks like the first one does the job? What are the advantages to the more complex ones? What is the simplest quick release knot that won't slip when tethering a load or animal?
