The cause of this traffic jam is unknown. Happened on a Saturday afternoon during track season, I-87 Adirondack Northway northbound between exits 12 and 13, Albany-Saratoga region.

A line of storms moved through the area with gusty winds, resulting in several reports of wind damage.

Scattered thundershowers and an eventual shelf cloud moved through Upstate New York. The final storm produced wind damage in Montgomery and Saratoga Counties. This was filmed in Amsterdam, NY.

A supercell, which eventually went on to produce an EF3 tornado near Albany, dropped significant hail in Amsterdam, NY. 4 inch diameter hail was reported. The largest that fell here was over 3 inches.

A fast-moving popup thunderstorm moved through the area with some intense lightning strikes and heavy downpours.

Strong, gusty winds accompanied a batch of synoptic snow, dubbed Winter Storm Vulcan, and created low visibility and blizzard conditions on the SUNY Oswego campus.

Later during an active day of lake-effect rain and graupel activity on Lake Ontario, I spotted a waterspout from the road on the SUNY Oswego campus in Oswego, NY.

A rather daunting shelf cloud moved over the Capital Region in the late afternoon on Labor Day, bringing with it gusty winds and small hail.

A rather widespread swath of wind damage occurred across the Mohawk Valley in Upstate New York tonight, one of three swaths across the state. This storm contained a lot of lightning, gusty outflow winds, and heavy rain as it raced down the valley, resulting widespread wind damage, most of Amsterdam being without power, and taking down several tents at the Saratoga County Fair once the storm fin...

A rather intimidating storm passed through Amsterdam, NY from the south, accompanied by dark lowering clouds and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. For such a frightening storm, very little damage was reported, fortunately. The video opens with a time lapse of the approaching storm. A lightning bolt flashes about 7 times at 7:57.

A previously tornado-warned cell propagated along the Mohawk Valley into Amsterdam in Upstate New York's Capital Region. This video features a time lapse of the gust front approaching and leaving.
