Fantastic job Coach. Always one of the best fields in So Cal. You and El Dorado. Both of you are a class above.
It's beautiful! I hope those who see it in person appreciate it too
Thank you!
Awesome work as always!
Thank you!
Is that just sand you used to cover the infield with first or mixed with something? If so what kind do you recommend?
Sand. Washed sand
@CoachTooz, thanks. Do you have an email I can contact u with more questions? Don't want to flood this video w questions
Hard work and looks great !
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Great job !
Can't wait until the Alumni Game when I get to hobble around that bad-boy! It looks great, Coach!
Love it! Great work!
Thank you!
Incredible!!
Thank you!
NICE!!!!!
Thank you!
Wow! Looks amazing, Coach! Great job!
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Once again, your work is 1st class. Looks awesome
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Can you list all the products you used? Also, how long do you wait before having practice on it?
There’s no option to buy seed online on the website
How many yards of soil did you use?
Sand and peat mix is far better, helps hold a little water. 95% sand 5% peat but it cost more due to mixing. Pure sand will eventually cause layering and need for more water. Due to drying out
How do you determine when to do this? Do you use a temperature formula?
That was an amazing job!
Thank you!
What’s your email address?

Man I would love for you to come down to my little league in San Diego and take a look at our fields and give us some advice.
Hey, I don't get down to San Diego very often. I wish I could get down there. Beutiful city!
@@CoachTooz we’re up in north county. We could use your expertise!
I mulch my yard u should to
Thanks for your advice. I think my yard looks okay.
Nice work
Thanks
Great Videos. I cannot find this seed on their website. I am just south of you in Long Beach so your videos translate almost 1:1. We do not have the Santa Ana's you have but I am a CHS alumni and lived in the valley for 25 years. We are just wrapping up LL Sectionals and will have a small break until fall ball starts in September until November. I am using ground cover/topper to cover my worn areas in front of the mound hoping the Bermuda will run but I had a lot of compaction this season.
Sorry for the slow reply. If you're still here local, try Stover Seed. Email me if you have questions coachmatuszak@gmail.com
what a great job! Do you have a video fixing the batter's box? What combination of soil do you use in the infield?
Thank you! I don't have a video on repairing batters box. I trained my catchers how to do it, and they typically do. I'm usually kinda shy about videoing kids on the spot like that. I'll see if I can put something together in the future.
It would be cool if we could hear words
You should turn up the volume, might help
I’m a huge reel mower fan: Allett and Dennis forever
The new Allett USA company is awesome! Allett is making some good changes!
Absolutely amazing. Will be doing this in the fall this year.
Thanks. Let me know if you have any questions
Absolutely amazing. Will be doing this in the fall this year.
Thank you! Hit me up anytime with questions!
Transplanting "plugs" has been a quick way to recover bermudagrass. Do you ever do that or recommend it?
yes, absolutely. Although I have Bermuda in my lawn, my goal is to have cool season grass year long
I never got to play on a field that nice as a kid. I'm happy for the kids who can. Bless you and all the grounds keepers.
Thank you for the kind words!
Wow! Nothing better than seeing a ball field take shape. I threw up when shea and yankee got knocked down! Too heart breaking!😮
Thank you!
art.
Thank you!

Thank you so much for the help! I've gone ahead and purchased one! Hopefully I have some better luck!
Coach could you tell me what you need to maintain this? How often do you fertilize?
Thats a really really really long list. A lot of time and work. Please feel free to email me anytime, CoachMatuszak@gmail.com
Amend the soil with what?? Compost?
I used a sandy loam mix from my local yard
how did u spread the wet seed?!?
Mix it with pellets. I do this later in the video
Thanks, brother. I was curious if this would fit the Makita split boom. You answered my question.
Glad I could help
Job well done. Very impressive keep up the great work Definitely not an easy job and a job that a lot of ppl don't understand how much work it does take behind the scenes. Can't wait for more videos.
Thanks 👍
Quick question: I have seed that is ready to spread (pre germinated) the sprouts have started and I should lay it today however we have a cold almost freezing 24 hours where I am and it’ll shoot back up to mid 60’s tomorrow… can I mix the seed with milorganite 24 hrs in advance (today) and spread it tomorrow? Or should I continue the water process and hope it isn’t too sprouted by tomorrow.
Sorry for the late reply. I'd continued that water process the extra day
Whats your infield mix made up of?
64% sand, 16% Silt, 20% Clay
@@CoachTooz what source do you have for that? Is it something regular people can pickup? Would love to have a source for a mix like that.
I sent it in to soil lab called Turf Diagnostics, located in NY.
Great Job! I work for a Minor League Baseball team as the Assistant and am looking to reacquaint myself with getting the grass looking great and getting the Field back in excellent condition. As the previous assistant kind of gave up on the basics. So, your videos are helping a lot. Keep it up!
Thank you for the kind words!
Great work man! I've been there before with a very similar situation. Had a giant river running from 3rd base side all the way through softball field between home and pitchers plate all the way out to first base. It was a lot of pulling stuff away and trying to get the sun to dry out as much as quickly as possible. Adding mix in. Level. Compact. Nail drag. Nail drag and a lot more nail dragging and leveling but in the end it was playable. Good stuff
Thank you!
Nice work! I need you to fly up to Oregon City this Thursday night so you can get my skin ready for the weekend.
Haha, good luck on your season, Coach! My flower bulbs are starting to pop!
Great work. I think I would have had a stroke if I realized I had only 24 hours to fix this problem. Lol.
Thank you! Was definitely stressful!
Dumb question here. Living in Ohio, when would you recommend beginning this process that you've done to your field? I'm assuming late September.
I don't know your weather, however when your temps have cooled down from the summer and well before any sort of frost/freezing.
Looks fantastic! Keep up the good work,
Thank you!
Nice
Thanks
Excellent work! Going back and doing the clean-up lines really make a difference. The whole infield pops. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks! Will do!
Good looking field. How did it do with this California rain we're having?
Thank you! The rain helps! The rain is the grasses best friend! :)
Your field looks amazing! It's got to be the best High School field in America.
Thank you!
