Go to hell Dook 🐏👣🩵
Terrible quality video but a great Tar Heel win.
The difference in Carolina then vs now is shocking.
I used to hate Duke (and K, reddick, etc) something fierce but now I have a great appreciation for them and what great teams they had. Call it maturation or recognizing the sad, slow death of cbb… we really had it good as fans…
Yep, I almost feel sorry for them...NOT! 😂 I've been a Heels fan since 1966 and have seen many greats come and go. K was a great coach, but he was the biggest cry baby of all coaches I ever saw! (He emulated Knight) In my opinion, he brought all this nonsense to CBB by his mannerisms and the players he recruited ( think of cry baby dirty players like Grayson Allen). But I take great joy in knowing this: UNC gave him his first loss in ACC play, and the last 2 losses of his career. You know that's gotta burn deep in his gut and he has nightmares about it!
Agreed. I hate such hate for Duke. But as I got older, that hate turned to great respect. It was the consistency of winning. Seeing a well run program.
Marvin Williams FTW
Always great to watch Dook lose.
I still can't believe to this day that UNC fans stormed the court.

NC my team since i knew about 🏀 tar heels
You gotta love it when Duke totally collapses after looking like they had the game locked up with 3 minutes left. :)
Check out the game against Doook where they scored 8 points in the final 17 seconds to force OT and then win! That's the greatest comeback I've ever seen in my life. It happened on March 2, 1972...
@@Michael65429 Oh, yes, I'm very familiar with that miracle. Coming back from 8 points down in 17 seconds - WITH NO 3-POINT SHOT - definitely the best ever. What makes it even better is learning the story of how it unfolded, with Coach Smith saying in the huddle during timeout, "All right, after Bobby makes these two free throws (which he did), then we'll steal the inbounds pass (which we did!!!)...". Incredible, absolutely incredible. Also, funny to learn that, the next day in practice, Dean asked Walter Davis to try to duplicate that game-tying shot...he never made it even once over several attempts. :)
Sweeeeeet
What an explosion in that stadium when Marvin hit that shot plus 1. Wow!
The good ole days
Sean may was a monster
I was there. I twisted my ankle on the way to the court. good times!!!
Love this rivalry so much!!! As a Tarheels fan, you just gotta love it when we comeback like this but it's absolutely heartbreaking when Duke does it to us!!! Regardless, this it definitely one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports!!!
But don't you know that Doook hates losing to us too?
From the Hinton James balcony up the street, it sounded like an explosion went off in the Dean Dome at 3:40.
This Carolina team was one of the greatest of all time. When they cut down the nets after beating Illinois, was the best moments. This year's team needs to find that same intensity. Thanks for the upload.
what team u think would win? the 04-05 UNC team or the 08-09 UNC team?
abatch12 I absolutely agree. That 2008-2009 squad was head and shoulders above everyone that season. They would definitely run the 2005 squad out of the building.
THE GREATEST GAME I EVER WATCHED!!!! GO HEELS!!!
This was good, but watch the highlights of them scoring 8 points in the last 17 seconds to beat Doook! That was awesome!!!
@@Michael65429 yeah I've seen it. Super cool!!!! GO HEELS!
Fricken shut up
Bo The Big Boy somebody’s salty that they lost yet again
Anyone notice the Duke player is way out of bounds in front of the ref and nothing is called?? The ref even had to step back to keep from getting ran over. @0:14
To be fair if they were gonna call anything it probably should've been a blocking foul, but even that would've been better than the three pointer that resulted from the no call.
Anybody have any Woody Durham announcing for this game? I would love to hear that!
Anything would be better than Packer, although I gotta give it to him on the calling the intentional missed shot. He was a good coach but a Duke lover and I can't stand to hear his mouth.
You don't have the relationship with another school like UNC does with d00k. You don't understand coming back in a game against a team you hate. Rankings don't matter. Louisville is similar, they hate UK, but it's not the same. I have family that went to UK who agree with me on that
This rivalry is definitely the greatest in all of college sports.
all of sports** american at least
It's good, but not that good.
Naw dawg ga fla Bama auburn Ohio state Michigan all better but it's the best in college basketball
Best rivalry in sports with all due respect. Ohio St and Michigan is a freakin awesome rivalry but up til this year has been pretty one sided and Michigan has what two national titles to its name to Ohio St.'s five. The Iron Bowl is another classic! Awesome f'n rivalry! The Kick Six alone is epic! But again Auburn only has a couple titles to Alabama's dominance over the college football landscape. Florida St v Miami in its heyday was a great of talent and speed displayed as ever. But my Noles only captured a couple titles because of Wide Right I, II, III, IV... 🤦😂. Duke and Carolina, 8 miles apart, 5 and 6 titles respectively, meeting twice a year with virtually classic after classic. Other rivalries you could make an argument for would be Lakers-Celtics, Cowboys-49ers and Yankees-Red Sox though up til recently it was mostly NYY but Sox in the last 18 years have changed history's course. But I'll lean towards Duke-UNC
@@nickyd5341 Duke-UNC rival is also consistent. Even if one team experiences a period of dominance over the other, you can still expect hard play between both teams and very few blowouts. It comparable to Yankees-Red Sox, Lakers-Celtics, and Army-Navy,
Just another thing that seperates UNC, Duke, Indiana, etc, from Kentucky. UK fans would NEVER rush a floor. We EXPECT to win. Always. UNC fans should be ashamed for rushing the floor after beating a team that was even ranked below them. Wow.
whats funny is that unc beat kentucky last season
as a UNC fan I really don't care about UK the dynamic is here is different in NC then anywhere else we don't need to be like UK or any other program KU,IU whoever it is and there isn't a thing I would change about it. What UK has is good for them and what UNC does is good for them
When you have the number one rivalry in college basketball then you can talk.
We do. Kentucky vs Louisville is definitely the best rivalry in college basketball right now. And has been for a good while. Tobacco road is old news.
mack potter for old news your here........uk fans cry to whoever will listen about how UK/UL is the best rivalry and that UNC/Duke is overrated while I do feel espn overrates what was already a great thing......with all due respect UK/UL the years can't compare to the history and sheer number of matchups over the many decades. For many years UK/UL didn't even play and honestly the so called rivalry isn't all that competitive either. UK/UL is hotter right now but what stands the test of time is UNC/Duke and its not close at all.
mercer
Be still my heart! Just love those Heels!
UNC
I can't wait for ACC basketball to start up.
McCants wasn't even playing this game and we still won.
McCants was an over rated chump...kind of like Caleb Love, both pouted when they couldn't make shots. Good riddance Love😅
born as a heel fan and will die as one
4...or the poor part of North Carolina, if you will.
yeah the year that they won the championship and the year before Tyler Hansbrough came.
WHAT!!! LUCKY! I hope i get into NCSSM. What district are you from?
Thanks dude for saying that. Ironically my dad works at Duke and I am a huge UNC fan. GO HEELS!
that's some cool facts, know wonder the flukies hate on us, TARHEELS for life!!!
Unc 109 NCCA tournament wins Duke 96..Unc 44 NCAA tournament appearance Duke 36..Unc 2090 overall wins Duke 2001(all wins came from Coach K lol)
05' ?
Nice, I went to NCSSM lol
What school do you attend out of curiosity?
Well, being an in-state student definitely helps alot. Taking A.P. and Honors classes are important, but perhaps the most important thing is your extracurricular activities. Your dad is an alum, which is also in your favor. Make sure to do community service, and be the leader of other clubs.
I can only imagine getting tickets to one of those games as a student. I have 4 years, and 4 opportunities to get one, maybe I'll get lucky
Great work Chris. Looks like you caught a really good day there. Were you just holding the camera in your hand?
Thank you whoa61093, I totally agree!!!!!!!!!!! Yes i am a HEEL!!!!!!! Carolina, Great Basketball Program, I have been a fan since 1979!! gO heels!!
And that's why people don't like them. Dook fans think it's because they win so much, but the last time I looked, both UNC and Kentucky have more NCAA Championships, and not nearly the universal hatred that Dook receives. They've earned it.
This game till this day is the happiest moment of my young life.
3:40 i listen to this almost daily
I went there when i was 8-9 it was fun
