I disagree with your comment. Doesn't your god describe himself as a jealous and wrath-filled god who is vengeful towards his enemies? In Numbers 31, your Christian god commanded the Israelites to commit genocide against the Midianites. He commanded everyone to be slaughtered. Then your god became angry with the Israelites because they were being too lenient towards the Midianites. So your god commanded daughters be slaughtered in front of their mothers and sons be slaughtered in front of their fathers before being slaughtered themselves. Your god did allow the Israelites to keep the virgin Midianites girls for themselves. I wonder for what purpose they were kept alive... I'm fairly sure we all know the reason on that topic. There are many non-merciful examples throughout the old testament and the new testament as well. However, I will provide you with a personal reason why your god is not a merciful deity. Firstly, I do not believe in the christian god nor any religion of any kind. That being said I was born into a strict Christian home to missionary parents and attended a private Christian school for 12 years. I was punished and disciplined for asking questions that challenged christian. I was very much forced into my parent's religion. I was born in a 3rd world country due to my missionary parents and i was born with a very congenital anomaly in my spinal column, spinal cord, and all my major organs. I required major spinal surgery a decade ago to try and correct the deformities. My spinal cord was tethered at the base of my neck and tethered at the small of my back. In the middle of my back my spinal cord was split in two by a bone-like bar and in the space between my split spinal cord grew a baseball-size tumor. This surgery was 7+ hours and now I am slowly and excruciatingly painfully losing my ability to walk. Imagine if your leg or foot falls asleep and you have that pins and needles type sensation. Now times that discomfort by 100. That is what I feel every second of every day and have felt that since my surgery. I won't walk my daughter down the aisle at her wedding. I won't be able to play sports with my sons and I'll need round-the-clock care when I lose all feeling. Does that sound like a merciful, just god? Why would any god allow that to happen to his creations? Why does your god allow bone cancer in children, starvation, war, genocides, and plagues? Why does Christianity always say "god works in mysterious ways" when tragedy strikes, people are destroyed by other people because of their religion, why natural disasters occur? What does "god works in mysterious ways" even mean?! It is simple, gods and deities simply do not exist. "Religion is man-made and it shows. It shows very well indeed." I am not upset at my condition. I've accepted my condition and I will live this one life with passion and love and my wife and I will show our children how to live and love during their one lives.

Jesus asked the father to forgive those who crucified them before they ever asked for forgiveness.

@@jonadams07 That's not the same as forgiving someone personally, asking God to forgive those who wronged you. I can ask God to forgive, but my question is can you personally forgive someone who is unrepentant? God wants us to ask for forgiveness, doesn't He set the example?
