Hello, do you have a track for this offroad trip? I'm interested in giving it a go. I hope you enjoyed my country.
Hey thanks for your comment. I didn't follow a track for it really, just entered the park through the main entrance and followed Google maps.

@@JaymzSim thanks dude I appreciate it. The track itself is not difficult, it's just gravel. I was going through it with road tyres though so traction wasn't ideal but it was nice to just go slowly around and enjoy the views.
Great footage, nicely edited. I'm off on a 4 week trip to Spain/Portugal in April/May aiming to visit all points in Spain furthest North, South, East and West. I'll be filming much like you've done and also with a drone. If i can produce anything like this I'll be chuffed 😂

Did your 1290 Super Adventures also suffered from a short (0.5 second) abruptly "missfire/cut-out" when opening the throttle at about 3000 rpm and then runs smoothly again? Cheers.
@@fredh4641 I had no issues, it ran perfectly
I have had this on occasion and its using the quick shifter but not using quite enough force to engage it properly... maybe the issue you had...
@@MrBrico001I have had this issues yes, but I think that's the nature of quick shifters, there is definitely a sweet spot to change gears with it. And it's definitely not low in the revs. Boots can have a bit of an affect on it too I think, due to the space inside the front when lifting your toes against the lever, you can easily not give it a full press. Causing some jolting when changing
How many l/km does at your pace?
Hey, I'm not sure what l/km but in mpg I probably averaged 49-52mpg per day depending on how I rode. I tried to do about 200 miles per day.
Its really beautiful, I would like to achieve a road trip like this
Great video and beautiful scenery. Excited to see the following video
Great trip, man, and good drone shots. Can't wait to see the next part.
Of topic but I'm curious as to the reliability of the 2024 SAR, have you had any issues mechanically with it? I have it on my list of next purchase bikes but might take it off for dependability concerns. Thank you for any guidance on this.
I have had the bike since September and not had any issues with it over 3000 miles so far. I had my older 2018 SAR for 6 years before swapping it for this which also had no issues after 25000 miles. I know KTM have a bad rep for reliability but you only ever hear about the bad ones and never the good ones. I'm sure if you search for reliability issues with other brands you will find many stories also. I love my 1290 and it gave me plenty of smiles in Spain in December and I'm sure many more in Norway in the summer!
@@simon1290r thanks for the reply. Right, I absolutely love the look of this bike, I will keep an eye on the what happens to KTM as a company over the next few months and see if that influences my decisions. Thank you again, and enjoy that big beast.
@@tigerrider007 Indeed, sad about KTM right now but maybe you can find a sweet deal on something new. All the best.
Thanks a lot Dude. Just fitted mine. The bottom bolt where the screen pivots, just remove that and it makes the whole process a lot easier. Tx again!
nice one!
Did you trade the bike for a 1290R? I'd be interested to hear about what you think of the differences. I'm an off roader but I'm thinking of buying the 1290 Adv S. I don't want the R because it's significantly taller and that just makes it more of a burden on and off road. The R suspension is obviously capable of much higher speeds off-road, but I don't care to push a big bike that fast off-road. The spoked wheels are best if you're a fast rider and pushing it, but I'm not pushing into bent rim territory on a bike like that. Also in Canada the ADV R is speed limited to 180km/h, and even my T7 at less than half the HP hits that speed. The ADV S doesn't have the limit. I have an Africa Twin and a Tenere 700. I hate the tenere 700 because it's like an XR 650 on the street and feels as heavy as a goldwing in the dirt. I actually have a lot of fun on the Africa Twin but I've had it for 8 years and I'm just kind of bored of it. Both bikes are DOGS off road and I have no interest in pushing the limits. I have a hand full of dirt bikes that I ride and race off road, that's where I am 95% of the time. But I can't own a pure street bike because I live out a muddy dirt road and I go to a lot of places in the dirt, but still want to have the most fun I can on the street which is always a novelty for me when I get that chance to take a street legal bike out for a ride. Sorry to be that guy, but if you're looking to tune up your off road skills, have you considered something like a CRF250F? You can buy one for about $4000 used, ride it for a year or so, and sell it for the same price. Do static balance drills, set up a mini-cone coarse, learn log hops, and wheelies. Set aside a few hours a week to "train". I do a lot of racing and those simple drills I did at home in my yard made the biggest difference in my riding and helped bump me up from beginner classes to A class. Simply riding challenging terrain didn't actually teach me much before the learning curve flat-lined. The skills transferred to ADV bikes and I can get them into places they definitely don't belong. I go on a big trip every so often on a big bike, this summer it was 6 weeks. Every time I do this, it takes me a couple weeks to get my skills dialed back in on the race bikes. ADV bikes literally erode your off road skills away. I think they're too big and cumbersome for a beginner to learn on. You can do it, but it requires deliberate focused training and would take much longer than it does on a small bike you're not afraid of crashing many times repeatedly for hours at a time. Anyway hopefully you're on some new bike somewhere having a blast and not reading youtube comments, cheers.
Thanks for the comment, I'll reply properly soon. Cheers mate
Hey, so yeah, I did trade in my 2018 SAS for a 2024 SAR. Straight away the bike felt smoother to ride and "seamless" in a way, like less clunky, which I didn't realise would be the case as they are basically the same bike. I am 6ft 2 so having a bigger(taller) bike just suits me, depending on the sag I can easily flat foot or put the ball of my foot on the ground. My first bike was a GSXR 600 which was so much fun but just too small for me, then a Monster 1200 which again was incredible, the sound is made I will never forget, then finally 1290 SAS when I decided I am too tall for small bikes and I really wanted to go on an adventure, I went to Norway on it in 2018 on my first big trip and it was truly a memorable ride, now SAR which I picked up in Sept and just come back from 9 days in Spain, December was the wrong time of year for it but I had an incredible time. Also 1 of the reasons I went with the R over the S second time around is it's 1 less thing to go wrong, though I never had any electrical issues in the 6 years I had the S. Just like you say above, I am the same in that I will never push the bike into bent rim territory, nor do I have the skills to do it. And the bike is and will always be more capable than what I will ever be able to do on it. But I just love the way it looks and it's character and how it makes me feel when I ride it. I wish I could afford multiple bikes and love the idea of a smaller dirt bike for real off-roading in the future, but where I am in life right now 1 is all I can have. Hopefully in the future I will be in a position space and money wise where I can have a decent 250 or similar and truly get in to off-roading. Majority of my riding is tarmac with smaller amounts of gravel/track. Also having such a big powerful bike means the misses can join me on the back from time to time. Hopefully in the next 2-3 years I can travel to Morocco from England. In 2025 the misses and I will either travel through the EU to northern Norway, or just the most direct route to Norway and spend more time there. Still undecided yet. In hind sight since making this video and have had time to think about what I want from the R, I would still choose it over the S. And I don't think I'll be hitting the extreme off-road like I was dreaming at the time of making the video. I think I got awestruck and what TH-cam was throwing at me. KTMs future is uncertain, but the company going bust isn't going to make my bike vanish. I love it and would recommend a KTM to anyone. I've got plenty of footage from my Spain trip so will be getting new videos out of that when I have the time to edit stuff together. All the best to you Sir.
Nice

Is it essential to have a motorbike to use these heated grips? I just want to keep my hands warm while walking around in the winter, maybe installing into my retractable dog lead for example.
