GARAGE DARTS | WHAT WE'RE ALL ABOUT
Garage darts has one goal: To introduce darts to the masses! It seems like darts, especially in America, is often misunderstood and relatively obscure. Our hope is to change that, with videos that cover all aspects of the game. Once you give this game a try, I think you will agree, it quickly becomes an addiction! (but a good one!)

Thank you, just starting to play again after taking 30 years off. I will try the 41 routine.
Welcome back to the game!! Thanks for watching!
I am new to darts. So I’m watching videos to get caught up on rules, etiquette, etc. Question: Why am I noticing a lot of players trying to his 19 very early. Is this to bring their score to an even number?
In the beginning stages of an 01 game, 19s are uusually used if the triple or "treble" is blocked by another dart. Since 19s are the next highest number, its a good target to go for. Towards the end of the game, it definitely is used to set up an outshot. Thanks for the question!
@ Thanks! I started wondering if 20 getting crowded out wasn’t another logical answer. Much appreciated.
Did you also do a video about how to hit the numbers? 😂
Thank you. You did a really good job of explaining this.
Thanks for this video! I adopted Around the world with minus points for miss , great exercise!
I’m from England, and plays Cricket, I sent this to my friends who don’t and it helps!
I played darts for a while around 20 years ago. Now retired with a lot of time on my hands, I thought I would try again. I still had 2 sets of good darts. Bought a new board. Even though I am on the lower income scale, I splurged. Winmau Blade 6Professional triple core. Nice. When I was a child, my Dad use to say, " Pay les get less " I kind of remember how to play cricket, but not everything. Your video is by far the best video explanation on how to play cricket. Thank you for the effort Red. ( I didn't see a name ) :-) So I am going to call you Red...
Lol! Really enjoyed your comment ❤!! if you want to know more about "Red", go to caliwestdarts.com, or just Google Cali West. I'm Cali 😁 welcome back to the game!! And good pick on the winmau board! One of the best out there!!
Also, in this day and age,a lot of scoring apps are available. Dartsmind, dartcounter, etc. Some of them have AI cosring. So if you have a good phone, it will be able to use the camera to calculate the score for you. Therefore, in this day and age, the mental maths is not an excuse anymore for pub players.
Not to be an asshole, but the 20-3 line is not aligned with the vertical. It is a little bit offset clockwise.
Hi your out for 87 has a mistake :-)
Haha correct! Thanks for letting me know! I will correct as soon as I can!!! ❤appreciate it 😁
I'm a beginner, it seems all of my darts all over the place, and when i get a grouping all off the darts are going to the left.
Thanks for the video. I’m from the UK and we don’t play cricket darts, I wanted to learn to get better at T19s etc.
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
I’m happy I found your channel , I just got back into the dart game . I learned to play in the military it great fun and brings back great memories thank you 🙏
I know quite a few people that became familiar with the game in the military! Glad you enjoy the channel and welcome back to the game!!! And thank you for your service! ❤
Omg I was tuned in to that make-believe game like it was real. Rooting for that 4th qtr come back like I had money on it. Lmao
Such a great topic! My favorite steel tip practice game is 121 and my favorite soft tip practice is playing 5 leg medleys with friends for $1 a match.
nice part 2
thank you for the tips
thank you
thanks for the tips, I learned something❤
One thing I practise a lot is my walk up and stance but not throwing any darts. I do this around a dozen times, walk up, get feet set, Look at board lean forward Bring arm up Repeat. Not sure why but this has really increased my confidence as I feel my body is ready without thinking and I can concentrate on my game instead of setup.
@@ArrowValley interesting idea. In general, if it works for you, stick with it. Building confidence is oftentimes a very personal experience. Thanks for sharing yours!!
What do you think about magnetic dartboards for beginners who live in apartments? Are they worthwhile?
@@hgaming7699 hmm, the only benefit there may be to just work on your form...but I have another suggestion- what if you got a plastic tip board? They have some inexpensive ones, that shouldn't mess up your walls too bad. Other options are to get a free standing dartboard. You can buy the stand separately from the board.
I love cricket! Both types, darts and the game with the bat and ball. Coming in to the Australian summer so cricket season has kicked off here.
My garage is a hot mess too except for a narrow path in front of my board!
@@shaunneal9981 glad I'm not the only one!! 😁
I completely agree keeping a record of your practice. I have found there are a number of dart apps, both free and paid, that make this so much easier. Years ago I used to have my laptop with an Excel spreadsheet recording my practice numbers but now the app makes it so much easier. There's nothing better than seeing your improvement to motivate you further.
TH-cam recommended me your channel and it makes me want to dust off my dart board and play some darts after about 10 years of pause. Thank you for these vids! :D
@@Kurdtiss ❤❤ this!!! Welcome back to the game 😁😉 thanks for the feedback!
Love this..we dwell so much on th doubles but Def trying out th single numbers aswell
Hello 👋 what is the highest score game you have played in or seen?
The highest game i have ever played in was about 1300 points for each player!! Long game!!!
Love this content, I will certainly look to add these to my routine
Thank you!
The oche or toe line is 7'9.25" from the face of the board (not the wall) and the board should measure 5'8" from the bullseye to the floor. Funny you should ask! Next video I will walk you through setting up your board at home!
How far from the dartboard do I stand?
Why did Will cry...lol g😅good stuff strategy wise
Excellent advice on the frustration factor, so easy to ruin progress getting tied in knots when things just don’t happen.
Thanks for the comment. Its definitely a trap many of us fall into! Results only come with patience
I'm a newbie and I love your videos! You make it very easy to understand using visuals. Thank you!
Thank you. Very well explained....
Thankyou for all your videos, they are a great help ❤
too much theories
Huh?
yeah
Too much equipment and dart apps.
Please how many total legs are there in dart game
@@amookehinde99 that is up to the tournament or league you are playing. Usually best of 3 at league level. Many tournaments are doing best of 5, with it being best of 7 or 9 if you make it to semis or finals. I play one league that is best of 15 legs and another that plays all 15 legs. So it definitely varies!!! If u are just starting out, try a best of 3 format 😉
I think limiting yourself to a certain amount of darts is a good idea because i end up throwing 30 darts at double 1 and get frustrated
@@nominox1158 my point exactly!! Getting frustrated will only lead to bad habits, that won't help improve your throw in the long run! Thanks for the comment!!
@@GarageDartsI agree as well, and I'm sure if you're throwing at that double in a game, there's a little niggle of doubt as you recall those 30 missed darts when you were practising.
@@shaunneal9981 TRUTH!!
What works for me on double 1 is aiming for the double 20 but take a slight step to the right but everyone is different of course and certainly not my favourite double
tyvm.
LMAO..... love that snap of the finger change....!
That was great I never heard of this what does a d o stand for? Just curious.thanks again. by the way, how long have you been playing for? I'm pretty new and I like the game a lot and it's fun to learn stuff from people with experience such as yourself thank you......I'm looking forward to getting more videos from you.
@@alexanderpatrick4866 ADO stands for American Darts Organization. The largest and longest running Darts org in the U.S. you can visit their website at adodarts.com. I've been playing darts for 25 years😁
@@GarageDarts thank you!
Fundamentals is always the key. I'm relatively new to the game and had to take a pause because of an injury. It's always important to stick with the fundamentals and that's what I plan on doing thank you so much I'm subscribing and look forward to more videos from you.
The animations are great 👍
Thanks! Not bad for a dart player huh? 😉
Starting at target #20 is a strategy for those that can hit the intended target. For the basic beginners that don't want to add any math to it: you can eliminate the point system and just play cricket to close out the numbers 20 thru 15. Another basic beginner strategy is to aim for the bullseye and collect any close outs in your attempts to the bullseye. It also helps your aim and focus on a singular point. Always a good idea to use good darts and stick to what works for you. Some cheap darts are so bad that they mess up your ability to be consistent with each throw. With all that said... there is no need to buy expensive products just to play a game of darts for fun.
Good video for us beginners!
Thank you Cali for sharing your knowledge and skills.
I have tried it today ... and sucked! But thanks anyway!
😂 hey we all start somewhere! Just means lots of room for improvement! Hang in there and keep working at it! ❤❤ Thanks for the comment
