Lyrics (TTTO "Heart of the Appaloosa," Fred Small):
In the land of high-tech ventures, by the waters of Frisco Bay,
Hewlett Packard up by Stanford, IBM in San Jose
The Hackers of the Apple wrote their code and schemed their schemes
In the valley known as Silicon, where fortunes grow from dreams
And they built some fine computers, if you skip the Apple III
But they vowed to build a new machine that would the market please
They would ease the users' burden; the command line they'd replace
With the magic known as GUI, Graphic User Interface
Chorus: Windows-Scrolling-in-the-Valley,
Lead the Hackers off on a GUI tide
There's blood on the chips down at HP, DEC, and MIPS
But the heart of the Apple Lisa never died!
Then from Xerox came the Alto, never marketed nor sold
Bringing mice and multitasking, and menus that unfold
Desktops sprouted metal rodents, bitmaps glowed upon the screen,
And printers put on WYSIWYGs to print just what was seen
Nearly lost in Big Blue's shadow, incompatible with DOS,
The Lisa, slow and costly, seemed sure to be a loss,
But then came Macs and Fat Macs, LaserWriters, II's, and more
And word would come from Microsoft: "You realize this means war!"
(Chorus)
The Chief said to the Hackers, in his anger and his pain,
"I am no more John Sculley; Scrolling Windows is my name!
They condemn us to niche markets, call our products vaporware.
We will sue them if we must, but we'll retain our market share!"
They climbed on board that SCSI bus, with Postscript in their hearts
They won in desktop publishing, they won in graphic arts,
Till Bill Gates, he saw his strategy, and sent the e-mail down
To copy those GUI features, wherever they be found
(Chorus)
Three Windows versions later, past the Pentium divide
The strangest of bedfellows, IBM now on their side
Three thousand applications on the PowerPC run,
But the buyers and the users still are leaving one by one
Windows-Scrolling-in-the-Valley said, "My heart is sick and sad.
The future now looks RISCy, the old chips are dead.
The lawyers take our spirit, but I've stock options galore.
From where Scott McNealy stands, I will fight no more!"
(Chorus)
They were sent to Intel platforms, Michelangelo [virus] ran rife
But more hackers quit from boredom, and went off to get a life
And the man once known as Sculley with great glee is heard to state,
"They'll get Windows '95 debugged in 19 zero 8! (Goddamn Y2K bug...)"
But sometimes, without warning, in some dull commercial app,
A hack of wondrous cleverness emerges from the crap
A metaphor that's graceful; a real need that it can fill
Double click upon that icon-the Apple Lisa's living still!
(Chorus)

He tasks me. He tasks me and I shall have him! I'll chase him 'round the moons of Nibia and 'round the Antares Maelstrom and 'round perdition's flames before I give him up!
Yes it's almost a distantly fermilier concept to be thought of as past tense
If Ween covered this . . . . . . . . it would be awesome! and Leslie would get some nice royalties.
1:38 is my favorite part, I listen to this song just to hear it.
I have the short story collection it inspired. 😊😊😊😊
Kantrowitz is such a beautiful name
FLY COLUMBIAAAA
BEEP BEEP BOOP BOOP 🔥🔥🔥
I just bought the short story collection that this is based on. Can't recommend it highly enough. If you aren't hooked by punday night, I don't know what to tell you.
Leslie Fish is the purest talent I know
OI. ANIMATIC CREATORS... where you at?
This sounds like someone describing PTSD without really knowing how to describe people and emotions.
I've been reading merchanters luck, saw this title "no way ia this a song about Pell?" Yes it was, I'm very happy
It blows my freaking mind that anyone thought that Trump could relate to the bottom 99% of Americans, let alone actually do something that would help them. At this point, they’re getting exactly what they voted for.
This is The Illusive Man's ringtone.

The trailer for 28 Years Later brought me here...

Lovely song
WTF is this? 😂
Легенда колониалов
I think of this song every time I step out into my front yard to watch a SaceX Falcon 9 launch. Which I do EVERY TIME that I am home and the skies are clear. I feel like I can't just sit inside and ignore it, when there's going to be A VISIBLE SPACE LAUNCH!!! It would be like knowing the Beatles are going to drive down my street, and not bothering to go out and look.
Houston there seems to be some precipitation on my visor
that's a lot of booze and fuel
as funny as this siatuion is this is going to be a genuine problem if we want to become a type 2 civilization but right now we should focus on becoming a type 1
Why the fuck is this such a good song. I love how the human just loses to the devil in this story. I really love it.❤
Ad astra, Vic, ya bloody legend
Thank you for posting this incredible album. I lost my original cassette to a rat bastard who broke into my car, stole the radio and my cassette organizer and got away scot-free.
Hell yea
Hell yea
...nice
Nooooo, Stalker Child. Its you, who will go to neither heaven nor hell. Enjoy being return to earthly prison, stalker! ~Tomlinson
Had to do a little research and found the original song and artist: "Gladstone Pier" - Redgum/Mitchell Burnside Clapp. Absolute banger of a ballad "I Was Only 19" is another amazing one
this is such a mood
Just be poly dude
The song implies that shields are not some transparent energy barrier but a bright glowing ball of fury that envelops a ship. Very powerful imagery
The english is a litle hard to understand (im not a native speaker) what does this song say? I mean, what the story here exactly?
it is very old language, but the general story seems to be about the son of a rich family who loses all of his money and is forced to stay with poor farmers. But the farmers welcome him much more, and his old family despises him for losing the money, so he decides to abandon the family and it's wealth, to stay with the farmers hope this helps some
@@Kyuschi now i get it. thank you :D
Vary few songs make me sad...
See I’d feel bad for Lola but we don’t get told if she payed for the dry cleaning after throwing up on his shirt. Fr. Feel bad for him.
I had the great privilege of getting to do a tiny bit of work for NASA. Got me a green card. I get to sing this.
My grandparents. Great grandparents are buried in an obscure part of Texas. In the future men will feel the same pride at being given to the stars
Go for Yoshibelle, clearly.
I hope the fires in everyone's dreams can keep them warm until their souls can fly far away to a place that knows far away
Big Sister Leslie giving us tough love.
What story is this from?
Out of the billions here we are to savor this masterpiece. I guess we've been through our fair share to appreciate it.
Came Here From MARE IGNIS.
