    I'm glad you preached about "the robe". I grew up in FPC-Duncan. At the age of five I took notice of that wonderful black robe. I didn't think a person could be a minister without it. When I was 12 I joined the adult choir. We had our robes. Originally they were red, then we switched to gold. Once again I thought that a real church choir wore robes. When I was 16 my boyfriend took me to his Baptist Church for a visit. I couldn't believe that the pastor was wearing a suit and tie! The choir didn't have robes! It actually was a distraction for me that the pastor and choir weren't designated as such by robes. It's interesting how our minds work when what we're accustomed to isn't there in a similar setting.

    What Jesus are you talking about? The one doing signs in every chapter or the one rebuking those seeking signs? "The only sign is Jonah:" a believer murdered by other believers because he was outnumbered. The Jew is hung from a tree for all time & the record of this is in the gospels themselves: th-cam.com/video/xyhv69EFuoM/w-d-xo.html Proof the Roman Government invented Jesus' story - in 12 minutes. "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree:" Galatians 3:13 1 Corinthians 9 20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; 21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

    Wow, that's what you got from the story of the conversion of the Ethiopian Eunuch? You completely missed the obvious. The Eunuch asked to be baptized. Why did he do this? Obviously, because Phillip told him the act of baptism is how one becomes united with Christ (Romans 6).

    How can any preacher be for this Marxist ideology that has grown in our society since Biden was elected? Was Trump as evil as you thought six years ago? Show me proof that Trump was more corrupt than Biden! Shame on you for not understanding the facts and judging people for voting for Trump! Don’t you see that America is under God’s temporal wrath (Rom 1:18ff)? What makes you think that people who voted for Trump or voted against Hillary are people who hate others? I don’t worship SCOTUS, but what has been going on since the pandemic is evil! Is it possible that we might be in a covert World War III with China?

      Hey. Thanks for watching and listening. … I do not, myself, personally grasp the need to change our common language, but then I have not personally experienced the disdain, and worse, of those whose self-identity is different from mine. So in the spirit of Judeo-Christian hospitality, I accept it. … I guess it’s like this: If someone has a baby, and then realizes she is actually a he, and takes what she sees as medically necessary steps to align her body with her experience, to become male, what do we call him? I say we accept their decision and honor them by using more inclusive language. I have nothing to gain, nor nothing to lose, by showing them respect.

      @@MrRichardMize I respect your opinion as a personal view, but cannot accept is as theologically sound and biblical. Who gave us the authority to call her anything else than what God intended, someone who is created in the image of God. I never imaged I will hear a pastor advocating for abortion from the pulpit. You conveniently left out what Paul is strongly suggesting: "do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh!" Indulging the flesh is exactly what the so called "bodily autonomy" is. However you twist it, reproductive justice does not come from the Bible. "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:2

    What are those pagan symbols you are wearing?

    • @MrRichardMize
      @MrRichardMize 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What is the meaning of the UCC symbol? The symbol of the United Church of Christ comprises a crown, cross and orb enclosed within a double oval bearing the name of the church and the prayer of Jesus, “That they may all be one” (John 17:21). It is based on an ancient Christian symbol called the “Cross of Victory” or the “Cross Triumphant.” The crown symbolizes the sovereignty of Christ. The cross recalls the suffering of Christ - his arms outstretched on the wood of the cross - for the salvation of humanity. The orb, divided into three parts, reminds us of Jesus’ command to be his “witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). The verse from Scripture reflects our historic commitment to the restoration of unity among the separated churches of Jesus Christ.

      Elisabeth Scott Doesn’t it though. Seen *almost* as such. Note on Sirach 1:4 in HarperCollins Study Bible: “That wisdom was created before all other things is a recurring motif in the mythology of personified wisdom.” And on 1:9: “The metaphor imagines wisdom as a model or plan for creating the world.” ... and that sounds like Logos. Faskinatin’ stuff!

      scott And Trish Mize Hey there! I grew up in Sequoyah County, OK. My dad was Carl, his dad was Everett (E.L.), his was Lem (Lemuel), and his was Troyles. Troyles came to the Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory (now eastern Oklahoma), from Indiana in the 1870s. I always say there are so few Mizes we have to all be kin, but so many that we don’t all know one another! ... Troyles was a charter member of a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Indiana. All the ones I know grew up Southern Baptist (I did to). After being away from the church for 20 years, I came back, to the United Church of Christ, in 2005. The UCC is in communion with the Presbyterian Church (USA), so I serve Trinity Presbyterian, a small mostly African-American congregation, in OKC, part time. The LORD does work in mysterious ways! Glad to meet you!

      @@MrRichardMize I grew up in Indiana and all the family members as well come from Indiana. I really don't know that much about my family except my grandpatents names were John and Marcella grampa John passed when my dad Charlie was nine. But there is a lot. Of them Grampa had 12 children Grampa was in the military for most of his life and they traveled a lot. I spend most of my life living wrong and battled addiction with meth and many other substances until 2 years ago when I found myself hitchhiking a ride home and the person giving me a ride stopped at a tent revival and it was there that I heard the voice of God speak to me and tell me he's been waiting for me ever since then I've been living inow attend a mainline full Gospel Church Pentecostal background in a small town. Bee branch Arkansas. What a Wonder to hear back from you. I've always thought the same about the mize's. There are very few we almost have to be related lol. I would love to learn more about my family

    There is no shortage of evil bashing the pre-tribulation rapture . I would like , just once , for one of these post tribulation believers to share their theory of how it's going to go down without attacking the pre-tribbers .

      R J That was the main point: It’s bad theology and it leads to bad behavior that harms the earth.

    I think Jesus went to Hades, not Hell. But now Hades is closed but the gates of Hell are open. And all of those who neither believe in Jesus nor obey Him will be cast into Hell where the flames burn forever and ever.

    The video ends before the sermon. Ending: Many early Christians took the New Jerusalem as a metaphor for the church. That’s probably why today, the Sixth Sunday of Easter, the lectionary paired this passage from Revelation with the one from John 14. It is still Eastertide, when we remember the time between the Resurrection, and the Ascension, and then Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church. Jesus answered him with a promise, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. … The Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” So, from the Gospel of John today, we read and hear of crucified and resurrected Jesus, his Father, and the Counselor, to come. And from the Revelation of Jesus Christ today, we read and hear of God, and the crucified and slaughtered yet living Lamb of God, to come. And today we have that hope, and it’s this hope: Neither the first disciples nor, later, the contemporaries of John of Patmos struggling under empire, nor we, are stuck. We are not stuck alone in the corrupt, godless, selfish world that wants us to live alone and die alone. The gift of the Holy Spirit, the gift of the church, the beauty of the vision of the New Jerusalem, are gifts of community, and mutuality, an invitation to lean on and love one another, and to extend that and offer it to the poor old world now, and then, and forever and ever amen. It’s a dangerous world, but are not alone - no, never alone; no, never alone. We are all in this thing together. As the old hymn says, and I have to tweak it to get US in there: We’ve seen the lightning flashing, And heard the thunder roll, We’ve felt sin’s breakers dashing, Trying to conquer our soul; We’ve heard the voice of our Savior, Telling us still to fight on, He promised never to leave us, Never to leave us alone. No, never alone, No, never alone, He promised never to leave us, Never to leave us alone. The world’s fierce winds are blowing, Temptations are sharp and keen; We feel a peace in knowing, Our Savior stands between; He stands to shield us from danger, When earthly friends are gone, He promised never to leave us, Never to leave us alone. Amen.
