My father was stationed on the Franklin D Roosevelt. CV 42. I was 13 years old and was on a dependence cruise from Norfork to Mayport Florida. The transom the big metal block letters said coral sea but Franklin D Roosevelt was painted over it. My dad said it was because Roosevelt had died and they decided to name the ship after him and the next one became the coral sea. My father was working in AIMD. It was cool to be able to hang out on an aircraft carrier when I was 13. Four days and three nights bug the shit out of my father and Mr. Chapman the photographer gave me a camera and some film and I just walked around taking photographs.

agreed 4 minutes is nuts to just gain access to the hood if its giving you that much trouble throw the pick end of the haligan into the corners of the hood and pry them up so at least you can start to suppress the fire while the rest of the company works on popping the latch.
