its kinda crazy that all of the other souls final bosses are gods or people with insane powers but isshin is just a regular guy whos good with a sword and has a switch on his flintlock
He is also a immortal ghost revived from hell and considered THE BEST swordsman in Japan.

These fights are reflection of strength ones so I’m pretty sure his attack power doesn’t matter here, I could be wrong though

Just learn his big openings for the most part. For instance, every time he does that jump down swing he'll either do a sweep or a thrust (He may do a normal attack on last phase wich when deflected will trigger a thrust from him) learn to counter these well. Also every time he tries to jump and arrow you, toss a shuriken at him and he'll plummet. Don't try to deflect his combo just circle behind him and strike at his back
I've been using a Elden Ring mod to incorporate Sekiro parry, but there's just nothing like the real thing.
Hopefully Nightreign will bring it back to us

Man how do you see his attack where he jumps back with a big spear sweep (in 2nd phase)? It always catches me off guard
I don't really "see" it, I mean I can react to it if I'm paying enough attention, but mostly whenever he does this sweep, I hit him directly (he doesn't block) so I hear the different sound first. Bot mostly just dodge forwards whenever he does something that isn't an attack after he deflects you

The best part of Sekiro unlike other souls game with the parry function is that you feel so much more powerful. You literally stand your ground even with the final boss of the game. And the fact that you have to keep applying pressure to break posture makes you feel like your always stronger in a fight. The feeling you get when you see the enemy getting overwhelmed is unlike any other game.
I suggest new rule: without mikiri only pary.
