I would have never have thought of using an air conditioner to combat the heat! I was thinking of using guns.

they should make the tentacles out of shingled pieces (like the feathers of a bird wing) to allow for air to pass through on the up-stroke to decrease air resistance. then they could make the tentacles wider too without having to worry about counter intuitive propulsions
