    Where did you buy your ring binders please? I can only find ones that don’t come with the screws so then I have to find seperate screws which then don’t colour match.

    I learned this system back in the early '80s from a book called Sidetracked Home Executives (S.H.E.). It works well when I force myself to use it and it would seem to be beneficial to multi-person families. Easy to give them cards (or have them pick out the chores they chose...anything helps! LOL), rather than having them pick from a list (they might forget all the chores they picked) or re-writing them on a separate list. I do like your addition of the post-it notes for one off tasks.

    • @SuzanneDesign
      @SuzanneDesign 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I still have my S.H.E. Cards and box from back in the day. I haven’t looked at them in years! Different strokes for different folks. I know this works for many just didn’t work for me. I’m happy there are lots of options.

    Let me see if I understand...please confirm or help me understand...Dividers 1-31, monthly, extra one for the following year. One-off tasks, write on post it notes and add to index card. When used tear up post it note and reuse index card. Regular tasks (weekly, monthly, quarterly or once a year). After used refile under next month, quarter or year). I like this video, thank you. I thought of adding the next year for the completed this year cards. Example: this is 2019, when yearly done, move to 2020. Right? Like the Christmas time cards being all one color -- they stand out nicely. And then going backwards in prep dates. You mentioned, and couldn't see the cards, wasn't in the frame, project cards. Do you write an overall project start date card (hope this makes sense) and then add them into the timeline slot appropriate? I like to think of this as task system as a timeline system as well. Can you talk about your project cards? Or did you and I missed the video. Again, thank you.

    Maybe I'm missing something, but how is the card system more efficient than simply writing them in the planner? Or keep the cards for the regular, recurring tasks you need to do, and then write those in your planner calendar?

    • @seir323
      @seir323 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Name Here I'm working on developing a card system for myself, it takes a bit of setup, but I want to save the time of writing these tasks over and over again in my planner in the future. I have add, so the simpler and more efficient I can make my system, the better!

    • @0435lilah

      My Name Here it's not, it just depends on your personality some people like it one way while others like it another...me personally if I just read it it doesn't work....but physically touching the note and moving it makes me feel like I have accomplished the task

      I have ADD and I like the idea of a physical thing to touch. It goes into my brain better. And the idea of "scribbling a note and drop it in the slot" sounds like a great way to purge my noisy brain clutter.

    • @UKPlannerBird
      @UKPlannerBird 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi.. It's probably not more efficient, but I used to find it helpful in limiting and re-prioritising the number of to-dos I had planned for any one day. When I was working, I found that I only had time for about 4 tasks in an evening, but found it useful to be able to swap tasks out if more important ones came along, without feeling like I was behind, or constantly migrating tasks forward in my planner.

    I just started a full-size 43 folders system. I used to work with cards on a magnetic whiteboard in a kanban-style format, and missed working with the cards, so I am integrating them into the folders. It's perfect except that the cards can sort of get lost in the folder sometimes, so I clip them together at the top of the folder. I like your use of post-its for one-off tasks - - I had been using whole cards, but there's really no need. One thing I added is tracking on the back of recurring task cards... for example, on the back of a reading card, I write the date and the pages or chapters I read. I re-issue cards for certain activities every week or month, so at the end of the year I have a stack of cards I can review to see my progress. Thank you for sharing your ideas!

    • @UKPlannerBird
      @UKPlannerBird 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are great ideas! I record dates on some of my recurring tasks that don't have a specific frequency, but i like the tacking idea, and the review. I actually never looked into whether post-it notes are cheaper than cards but i assume they must be - it seemed wasteful to use a card for an ad-hoc task..

    • @learningtobeme5195
      @learningtobeme5195 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the tracking idea. I have ADD and keeping track of how often something should be done or how often it does get done is hard for my brain. I like this idea for all my day/month/quarter/half/annual tasks. Cleaning routine to car registration. And, since time is hard for my brain, I will probably note any special items, cleaning products or documents and the steps and times for the tasks. I frequently put some tasks on the back burner because I don't think that I have time, but when I finally do the thing (like folding and putting away laundry) I find that it took way less time than expected. Thanks for sharing your tracking idea! My imagination machine is cranking!
