Nagoro's Doll Village ("The Scarecrow Village") – microshort
A curious village of dolls. Located in a remote village called Nagoro in Japan's Iya Valley. There was no easy access to get here other than through private transport or cycling.
These life-size dolls, or scarecrows, are handmade individually by a local resident, Tsukimi Ayano. Her village has dwindled significantly in residents. Today, there are about 300 of these dolls. Each doll represents the place of a former resident or an imagined person. Each doll even has his/her/their own formal registry and story.
I was fortunate to meet Ayano briefly at her home during my visit and got to witness a few local residents rearranging and moving dolls to a school gymnasium.

    Like yourself, I learned about the Brake Free helmet light via the youtube channel named, "Doodle on a Motorcycle". Today, I did a quick search and your video was among the search results. For what it is worth, I found your video useful and informative. Your personal review (after having used the Brake Free product) was the sort of testimony that I was looking for. Sure, there are others who have offered similar reviews and installation "how-to" guides, and I found their videos useful, too. That said, you gained a subscriber today (me) because of your home-grown & no-nonsense style of presentation. I also appreciate that your video has subtitles. I ordered my Brake Free helmet light a few minutes ago. I selected the white version, to go with my white helmet. I'm riding a recently acquired 2020 model year CSC Motorcycles "San Gabriel" SG-250, that I purchased in used condition from someone local. A lucky find, for me. :-)

      I'm glad my video can still help inform you on the product! Yeah, I hear yah. With all these accessories on our helmet it all adds up. This is without a GoPro, haha. Last I've checked, Brakefree has a discount on the brake lights. A decent discount from the retail price. Safe riding!

    Got mine a couple of months ago. I used to ride in upstate NY with no worries. Now I live in DFW / Texas where drivers are... let's be nice and just say, selfish. I saw that the inventors and founders pitched this on Shark Tank. Corcoran said "my brother was rear-ended on his bike and disabled" and then said "I'm out". This is how much motorists care about bikers.

      Finally did it and it gave me a different sense of accomplishment and confidence. Trained only up to mile 21, I knew I would be able to finish it, but that mile with the ruggedly road triggers all the hurting muscles. Mile 23, the long stretch you mentioned was as exhausting but I was able to keep my effort, not necessarily the pace. The rest of the miles are more fueled with adrenaline and I tried enjoying the minimal crowd that stayed up to the finish line where everyone is cheering and celebrating with me! Pessimistic goal was just to finish but I was also able hit my target time by 3+ mins. Nowhere near your time, but for a ‘this is me’ moment, I was super proud of myself. Thanks again for the inspiring vid.

      @@jepjacinto Thank you for following up with your story! Congrats on your finish - and, your first FULL! That's a huge milestone. The added bonus is hitting your target! Ride that euphoria! Marathons will humble you. The last three to six miles to any marathon will make you look inward and dig deep. I'm glad you hung on to the end. I do recall the raggedly road! I enjoyed reading how the race went for you. Hope you're having a pleasant recovery.

      @@temporaryissues Thank you for your kind words, I totally appreciate it. Indeed a humbling experience! Next is the NYC this Nov with a couple of first-timer friends. I’m looking forward to the fun! Take care!

    Does this race go over any bridges or overpasses?

    • @temporaryissues
      @temporaryissues 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! No, the full marathon's course does not cross over bridges nor overpasses. There are two gradual hills on the second half of the course, around Mile 18 and 23-ish. They may not look like they have a significant elevation gain on the elevation map but on tired legs you'll feel it. I hope this helps!

    A brilliant investment, its a shame they dont do afiated marketing, i asked them about this when i bought mine, theres money in this product 😉 Heres a story for you on it, they apeared on Dragons den ,(a marketing show in England, where inventors pitch there buisness ideas, for a dragon to choose to invest in it, if they choose). They went on, (this is the clever bit 😉)they said in later months when this product took off, they wasnt intrested in the investment of any dragon, they went on so as to raise the profile of the product.. When i stop at the gas station, if i see another biker, i always show them the product. I do get you though, they are expencive, however they are sturdy and never let me down, im indifferent to the size of it, for it moulds round the helmet and i need that visability, honestly there are people out there friking using there phones while driving, so when i stopp i want them to know ive stopped and do the same. Great review, ohh an i guess you know now the one to three flashes for the battery life now. Have a great day 😉😁

On another note... the light modes are explained in their user manual which ppl can view and download via their website. Nice! Just finished watching this video. I got here through your review of the Brake Free Light. 1:30 I was about to ask you why you got into motorcycling, but you've answered it. What do your friends/family think of the fact you got into motorcycling? Both my parents have passed away, but I'm figuring my mom probably wouldn't have been keen on the idea. I wonder what my dad would have said. 2:55 That's what I was afraid of regarding a basic rider course. I'd be too focused on how to balance, and even operate a motorcycle, to fully get anything out of it. So I just did it on my own and was thinking I'd finally take a course after I got the basics down. Here I am 5 years later (total pro now, ahem! :D Haha), and I still haven't taken a course. I probably should take an intermediate course, maybe? Even if I don't, I probably should practice emergency braking (and getting to know my bikes individually). It's been 8 months since your last motorcycle video. I really look forward to another. <hint hint> ;D Ha Edit: I'm guessing you got a Grom due to the size, you being a small person, right? Edit 2: Good work in wanting to ride and just doing it! I say to everyone, you have to ride at least once in your life, it's SOOOO fun! I'm in SoCal, so there are a lot of curvy, mountain roads. I love it!

      Hey! Thank you so so much for checking out this episode of mine! Yes. I know. It's been quite some time I have shared an update on my riding journey! I'm long overdue and there hasn't been a day that has passed where I'm not thinking about the next vlog update, especially how I am now on a new bike. (It was hard to let the Grom go. I wish I had my own garage. I would have kept it or kept another miniMoto.) Yes, I did pick the Grom for its size but also having sat on two other bikes (I thought would be beginner friendly for me). Considering I don't have many choices I went for the safest bet: the Grom! I fell in love with it. I'm a small person (and petite). Thank you again for your thoughtful comment and for sharing a bit about your riding experience. I do hope you'll come back to my channel for more!

    Thanks for doing this. I think it is very valuable for such a low bike like the Grom. This caught my eye because I was hit from behind while riding. This was almost 15 years ago. I was riding my new Harley Road King. I was between intersections going about 20 mph. There was about $8,000 worth of damage to the bike and the bike was in the shop for two months. I went backward over the bike and landed on my head. I had bleeding on the brain and I had to take a couple of weeks off work. Since then I have been very concerned about being visible from the rear.

    How long does the brake lights stays on after you come to complete stop? If I stop at a traffic light, will it be on for a min or two so the drivers behind me can see me stopped waiting for the lights to change?

    • @dyee7162
      @dyee7162 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Brake Light is quite responsive, as I've demonstrated with just moving it with my hands. It is very sensitive. I have found that it will turn solid even if you're slowing down to a complete stop. Keep in mind that the light will still be partially lit (solid) when you're in motion so drivers can see you're still visible in addition to your brake lights on your bike turning on. Brake Light will go to sleep if it doesn't sense any hairline of movement after 45 seconds.

    If you read your Quickstart manual the flashing lights when you first turn it on are telling you your battery status. I disagree with your comment that it is bulky, compared to the weight of the helmet you never know it's even on there. You're right the manual does not tell you what the three modes are but just cycling through them a couple times you will know exactly what they are.
