Breeding Rats here on the Homestead
As stated in the video I once bred snakes and rats.... well I've decided to get back into the rat breeding game which will allow more funds to keeping up the homestead as well as extra income for bills as well

Rats need bigger places than that please get them proper cages or give them to people or pet shops who can actually take care of them
that's an awesome belt dude. where did you buy it? and how much did it cost you? I would like to purchase the same one you got buddy. very nice
I bought the material at Home Depot and it cost around $350-$400 in material, I come up with this design myself and built it from scratch... no blueprints or design manuals to go by... just used my knowledge of building
@ I’m talking about the tool belt buddy
You sell them to labs i guess?
@@joannewilson6577 no I sell to people with snakes to feed them too
Thank you !!!
Your very welcome, thank you for watching and commenting... please subscribe if you don't mind
Glad I came across your channel! Great content!
Hey man these builds look great. We finally achieved our dream of buying a home last year and now i want to work on another dream which is to have a few chickens so we can get our own fresh eggs. I am in the planning stages and right now i am looking at coop videos. I am really liking your builds because the size is perfect for what i am looking for! I am in a city in florida where were only allowed 5 chickens BUT hey its better than nothing and should be enough for the 5 of us! Will keep watching your videos thank you!
hey man that's awesome... did you see my other coop building video... it would probably be more efficient for 5 chickens unless your trying to separate them
@@thevaughnhomestead yup I saw one thats perfect for 5 chickens and I think its what i am going for. Currently making a list of materials i need!
❤️ i love them 🥺
I hope you don't have coons out there! I was using that type of wire & the coons catch the birds close to the wire & reach thru and pull the birds heads out & eat it off up to the wings! That is a nice built coop!
That's great thanks!!
no problem
Very cool. How much did the materials cost and what tools are required to build this from start to finish?
around $350-$400 Drill saw tape measure pencil square if you do the pocket screws like I did youll need the Pocket Hole Jig as well
@ thank you 🙏
Do you have to disconnect the propane bottle when you aren’t using the heater?
What the accurate temp
temp for chicken eggs is to be 99.5
My poor sweet girl! 😣
Nice job bro
How do you do the egg nesting layout

So adorable!!

What types of dogs do you have around the sheep. Did you train them not to bother them or are they naturally like that?
they are Great Pyrenees... They are 3rd generation... got them at 4 and 5 months old and they were born in the goat pen they came from and were raised with the goats until I got them so it came natural for them
@thevaughnhomestead Thank you! I have pitbulls and it's been trying
@@papigreenthumb1057 alot of it is about them being raised around them and taught they are to be protected and not harmed
You need to tit bucket so eggs dont get out...nale them ..cut hole in cover ...put sand and dry grass red color put some eggs around to promote it ...cover area or build under trees or bushes..bucket opening needs lip ( usually lid can be used or a 2 by 4 in front to stop eggs or chicks from falling out ... If you build nest boxes high .off ground you need to relocate them to a nursery pen for 2-3 weeks if itslocal chickens to teach them to forage and let mana gain weight. ..then remove mama. So she will start laying again
did you watch the video? I explain about tilting the buckets as they are in the coop and they are screwed down and have lips at the front to keep bedding and eggs in as well
@thevaughnhomestead yes great desigh i love it and nice size for starter coop or small space ..
Beautiful birds! If you mate silver duckwing x b.b. red, you get (in my opinion) the most beautiful bird on the planet, a golden duckwing old english.
What was the total cost of this coop?
$350-$400
That's great!
My sweet girls! 💕
Awe how cute 😊❤
Just building a house out in the woods in Belarus ( Had enough of city live in the UK ) . No experience of living the country life but guys like you really help a lot . Thanks so much for this, makes life so much easier when coming to build our chicken coop. 😀
So happy this video was helpful for you... And I love the fact your watching from the UK Love seeing that people watch from other countries, I'm in the US in the south in MS
@thevaughnhomestead Sorry you misunderstood, we have left the UK and moved to the Country of Belarus in the woods . So peaceful
@@craigb7460 well still cool to have someone from another country enjoying my videos lol I was also in the city and had to get out and moved to the country but it was only about an hour away move haha
What is the silver tube inside
thats the temp probe so it knows the temp inside the incubator
I’ve built two of these so far and I love them
Glad to hear that... Glad they are working out for you
She’s so silly! 😂
What’s going on bud, what kind of goats are you raising?
My main breeder buck is a Pygmy and the does are Nigerian Dwarf and Nigerian Dward/Pygmy cross
What r the dogs trying to find in the grass
they are just goofy lol
i have 1 too. its great. thanks for video.
Yes it is great for multiple ways of use
Do you not need to slope the roof if you want it to last long?
Nope, water is going to sit on it regardless until it dries up, a slant only helps with making the water drain in a certain direction... such as if you wanted all the water to run off the back side you would need to slant it to the back, but for me it don't matter if it runs off the front or back
@ even if you use a wooden roof with felt instead of corrugated roofing ?
@@IbraheemAlabsi-g8v I wouldn't recommend using wood on top in direct weather... tin will last so much longer
So fun! 🧡
I'm thinking about doing the same thing. Thanks for posting this. Now I know it'll work
Thanks for watching, and yes I love using it
Yep, can’t have no freeloading goats!
not around here lol
There is a field of a size of a soccer field near me and the field owner rented or borrowed some goats. These animals cleared the entire field in a week. 🙂
yes they can do a lot of work in a little time frame
Our dogs did the same thing ❤😂❤
yes they are very spoiled lol
Cute
thanks
What do you do for the winter time I live in an area where I get a lot of wind and it gets colder at night

Oh I know that sound! Works every time 😂
I feel kind of stupid for asking this but I am currently using one of these and can't find a way to check the humidity percentage. Is there a way to do that?
about the only option is to buy a humidity gauge... but to be honest I never kept up with that... I just added water to it about 3 days before they hatch and never had an issue
@@thevaughnhomestead update: all 6 eggs that I was incubating hatched!
@@brianwin6843 that's awesome.... glad they all hatched and that the machine is working out for you
Separate hydrometer
Im about to finish mine. Im trying to make it hurricane proof since i live in Florida. Maybe you have any ideas? I used 4x4s for my base bottom to make it a bit heavier. You think drilling thru halls and installing rebar to the soil might work? Any ideas appreciated.
In my experience, rebar only helps to keep things from moving sideways not necessarily from moving up unless rebar is concreted to the ground.... I would recommend using tie down anchors like you use for dogs that screw into the ground then either throw a strap over the coop and connect to the tie down anchors or use a short chain to connect bottom of frame to the anchors... put an anchor at each corner
Dog is beautiful and want a bite a goat lol
I appreciate it, and yea he keeps them in line
Men I’ve been following you for some time now keep up the good work. I love your build ideas and now your making me want to get goats.
lol I appreciate you continuing to watch, and yes they are really fun to hang out with and they love some animal crackers (theres a video of that also) I enjoy them alot which is what led to having 12 now lol
Es tremendo ese pichicho!!! No deja en paz a nadie. Parece medio cachorrón todavía,pero solo quiere jugar ❤❤❤
yea he is only 5 months old right now

If i am in upstate NY wouldn't the snow come into the coup on the metal ends?
if the snow is being blown in from the side yes during high winds, you could either do tin all the way down during the winter or add tarps during snow times that you can take on and off
He’s so dramatic! 😂
