Best comfortable commuter shoe? I haven't found a better one yet and I have be scouring the internet for a low profile cycling shoe that's easy to walk around in.

Canoeing doesn't have to be so hard. Try making a sail with a simple expedition tarp ( 2.5'x 4'), some bungee cords/string, a couple carabiners and a paddle or long stick. Put up your sail and enjoy the journey.

I love mine. Very comfortable for cycling. Walking around is fine too, except any little pebble you step on you will hear a “crunching” sound (metal vs rock). You get used to it.

Are they stiff enough for decent distance cycling? or more a casual shoe for running to the store and what not?
Yeah they are quite stiff in the forefoot so it’s pretty good for longer rides. Longest so far with them has been around 80 km and they were solid.

As a size, did you prefer a smaller size than other shoes, should you choose a size closer to the length of your foot because it is a shoe like a sock?
I liked both sizes. I'm usually a 9.5 and that fit really well, but like you said the 9's in the water were really snug in the toe box, which was nice. Both were super comfortable but I think I wore out the smaller ones faster as there was more stress on the mesh.
