Hello everyone Welcome Back and or Welcome Aboard.. In this video I am just doing some quick A-typical repairs, that often discourage a guy from running or keeping his trains and sometimes it discouraged one from buying a particular engine at a junk shop, thrift store and especially @ flea mkt s. and train shows. But most often they are just easy simple things that even a novist repair person can...

G-Man ---- No surprise ------ MTH never called me back -------- Gary is correct, I never liked the plastic that MTH/China used either.

I was never impressed with the composition of the plastic used in some of MTH's passenger cars. It seems that the plastic becomes brittle which leads up to the problem you've corrected. You do very nice work in the restoration of these items.😎😺🚂🚃🚃🚃✝

G-Man ----- I left a voice message with MTH trains regarding the issue below. I would like to hear from them --- I met Mike Wolf a number of times when I would attend the York train show in Pennsylvania, he said that "MTH stands behind its products"------ Curiosity on my part. I will let you know if they call back.

What is the reason that the dome pieces that hold the trucks on --- break so often? Perhaps MTH can provide you new base(s) for the passenger cars. Might be a flaw and MTH may provide such free of charge to you. I realize you make your own caps to hold the trucks on --- excellent job.

You're most correct in stating when the hobby becomes work it no longer becomes a hobby. However, I will repair trains for friends and neighbors at a fraction of the cost of a repair station. My good friend who owns a train repair and retail store is retiring from the operation this August so I have honing my skills. I won't bite off more than I can chew. Keep up the good work, God bless.😎🚂🚃🚃🚃✝

My next door neighbor gave me a Lionel set #1515 WS All State 1954. Everything was in rough and neglected condition. The locomotive in this set is a 2065 Hudson and was inoperative. All the die cast trucks were oxidized from being stored in a garage and there was surface rust on everything. A few prayers, elbow grease, WD 40 and electronics cleaner and things are in decent shape. I'll be finishing the tender this week, have to solder on new wires. Locomotive now runs like a champ, fouled up E unit. Thank goodness for a good dremel tool. I went through 4 wire wheels, but everything looks good. I was thinking about you while I was working on this project. I enjoy your how to videos very much. Peace be with you, God bless.😎😻🚂🚃🚃🚃✝

There's still something in the smoke unit. Say if you dont know how to, but dont mind opening the motor up? Look up this guy(if you haven't already). Warren Muzak post-war guy. His video "How to fix lionel post-war Scout 1120." He shows how to take the motor apart!? 🤔

Hello G-Man, Excellent video ---- the Hoge train is extremely unique. The configuration that Gary perfected for inserting the Marx motor is very nice. I watch Gary's videos also, and he always gets the old trains to run. The Lionel 421 is much too new for me, and your video is the first time I saw this engine. It is very nice looking! Take care of yourself, get strong so you can run that Hoge Streamliner on your layout. Best regards, Mike

As a rule I never purchase anything that isn't tested and I never purchase a steamer without the proper tender, but that's me. I don't care for the current Lionel since they use circuit boards which aren't always available. Interesting video, enjoy the Memorial Day weekend.😎🚂🚃🚃🚃✝

Very nice Gman! Marx to the rescue! I really like that Hoge streamliner. I put that same motor (from a tinplate FT diesel) in an American Flyer Zephyr and it works great. Those Lionel 0-8-0s are pretty decent performers, I hooked up a Winter wonderland set with that loco in it for a Christmas display several years ago.

I don't like working on E units either. Electronic dusters, canned compressed air, works very well in blowing out grit and other particles. I also have a small air compressor with the proper attachment for blowing out grit and other particles that lodge in the engine housing. WD 40 is my standby also as is strike hold electronics cleaner. Thanks for sharing your repair info.😎🚂🚃🚃🚃✝

Hi G-Man, Glad to hear you are feeling better! I wait to watch your videos, and then are certain you are doing OK! I also like the Baby Ruth cars and the other 9" Lionel cars such as the Swift, Airex, etc. I also collect Marx tin litho, same as you. God Bless and best regards, Mike

Good and accurate information. I have a fair amount of Lionel trains and a modest amount of Marx. On the Lionel end I like the x6454 series 9" boxcars. I also like the 6464 Lionel boxcar series since they have a variety of road names and colors. The boxcars from series nos. 9200-9700 were the MPC mfg. which were the replacement nos. for the 6464 pre MPC series. These also came in a big variety of road names, especially in short line livery. The Marx trains hold a special interest, though, especially the litho tin trains. I'm glad to hear of your improved health and positive attitude. Have a blessed day and my continued prayers for you and the family. 😎😸🚂🚃🚃🚃✝
