Lifetaker is so slept on Dark Mage Sylvain with Lifetaker was one of my most dependable units in my latest run.

I can break down pretty quick too

If I recall correctly, and I could be wrong, from a few of Manuela's Supports and NPC dialogues, it seems like narratively-speaking, she's not actually got much training as a Magical Healer, rather she was trained as a Conventional Medic. That's why her skills are so wonky, it's Gameplay-Story Integration around the fact that she never had proper magic courses. So when you get her in-game, you're literally having to give her the training she never got in the first place.

Sword avoid +20 though can be useful specifically for the dancer. With it and sword proficiency they could become quite hard to hit and with the dancer not really engaging in combat you don't really need many of the normal standard abilities.

17:10 Lysithea is the best users of it even if she didn't have the crest. She has many very strong spells but no 3 range one and she is easily the most frail unit so she can't afford to take any hits.

I think raging storm should be been exclusive to emperor and always be there. Emperor would still have a lot of flaws but it likely would be worth using just for raging storm alone. Then the low move of the emperor would be an understandable limitation to keep raging storm in check. Or maybe they could still give raging storm to Aymr but have it only be useable as armored lord and emperor. Though I feel the raging storm effect fits Dimitri better. I would have liked something like the inverse of stealth for Edelgard. That all enemy units will target her if possible. It could fit her quite well as the emperor with her servants around her taking out the magic users while she tanks all the physical hits.

32:55 There also isn't any narratively about them that makes sense. They should have given them some ability like +2 damage done and +1 damage taken every time Dimitri kills something. That he becomes more and more bloodthirsty. Maybe the high lord mastery skill could be something like a 44% chance to act again after killing something though it can only propt once per turn. (44 cause the word for 4 is the same as death in Japanese.)

50:50 I do think it has a use in the ranged magic build cause it actually makes it viable to attain dark magic range +1 at a reasonable level and during my run as it I even got dark tomefare towards the end. Which stacked on top of the +1 range of Valkary and the +2 range from the relic made her one shot almost anything from any range. Without mastermind S and S+ reason ranks would be totally out of the question. It's still quite an investment but it is attainable.

1:09:13 Subdue is kind of meant to be for less experienced players who have trouble getting their party leveled up evenly and have some that are behind.

1:07:00 You would never raise it for that combat art but for your fortress knights and great knights it's still nice to have. Though I still consider repositioning to be the superior one as it's much easier to set up.

I do use draining blow from time to time. It usually frees up my healer to do something else that turn.

I feel light magic spells just are too few. There isn't really any character with a wide enough variety of faith magic spells to make holy knight be viable. I think one spell that would have helped is a buffed version of nosferatu. That it's kind of what thoron is to thunder. Less uses, heavier weight and lower accuracy but higher power and an additional range.

Hey! This was an excellent analysis, however as someone who's used Yuri on every single route since the DLC's released, I'd like to add something: As a class that is favorable towards those who are proficient in Swords, Authority, Reason and Faith, Yuri fits perfectly into this niche. His 50% Charm stat and high base Charm also meshes extremely well. In my opinion, Yuri is by far the best unit in the game for the Dancer class, mainly thanks to his Hero's Relic, Fetters of Dromi. With Aegis and Pavise, he also gains +1 Movement and Canto, which couldn't be more ideal for a Dancer. Once the Dancer class is mastered, he also gains access to Sword Avo +20, which couldn't be any better for him as he has the highest Speed in the game and Swords are usually his primary weapon. This lets Yuri utilize his spell list, and unlike in most classes, it is a boon, not a weakness. The available magic classes suit him extremely poorly, but in the Dancer class, he becomes a backup mage and healer. By focusing more on his utility, he becomes so much better. This also solves his endgame issues, which is perhaps the most glaring flaw of Yuri's. Also, he's sexy af. He's sexier when he's in his Dancer outfit. MAKE HIM A DANCER! Or a Wyvern Lord if you're NG+ (hell even in NG). He's amazing as a Wyvern Lord.

Lorenz is one of the units who might even consider the very silly path of Dark Bishop into War Master. Bolt Axe War Master is very funny, but not very good because its so expensive.

I find faith is generally a very useful skill on maddening just because the exp from combat is so stunted, being able to heal someone at random whenever you dont have another action to take helps a lot.

I would have liked if you had at least touched on his canon classes.

I do wonder how Felix would fare as a armor knight. You do get a sacred axe in chapter 17 and you have his shield too.

What do you think about a sniper Flayn with magic bow? using hunters volley to patch up the poor speed?
