Corvin Castle was laid out in 1446, when construction began by order of Voivode of Transylvania John Hunyadi, who wanted to transform the former keep built by Charles I of Hungary. It was the place where Vlad the Impaler, Prince of Wallachia, was held prisoner by John Hunyadi. Later, Vlad the impaler entered a political alliance with John Hunyadi, although the latter was responsible for the execution of his father, Vlad II Dracul.
The Palace of the Parliament, also known as the People’s House, holds several records, making it a landmark not just in Romania but globally. Covering an astonishing 330,000 square meters, the palace is the heaviest building in the world, constructed with more than one million cubic meters of marble, 3,500 tones of crystal, and 900,000 square meters of wood.
