Actually, Ewan's pretty far from being the best caster. Needing babying when he joins, being nigh unsalvagable without that babying, and not really winding up much stronger than most magic users in the game being the key reasons why.u

I don't see Lute joining on the first chapter, and being able to solo nearly every enemy in the game.
