I call Donut AOE’s “Hugs” because this is my first mmo so my closest frame of reference for an attack like that is in the final boss fight of Hades, where the easiest way to not take damage from a certain move is to go right up to the boss and “hug” them. It’s one instance where I was very glad to already know what to do!

It's gotten so bad with raids, that these are the easy ones, because they share a common 'language' like you pointed out. A logic that can be deciphered because it's consistent. It's not 'hey, you got a shield across 3/4 of your body, and he's got a sniper rifle, turn your most vulnerable place towards him' that makes you go whaaaaat?

Majima and Zenos are my favorite fictional characters, I'd pay some serious money to have that in game 😍😢

Was very helpful watching this. Wish I knew this before taking on all the extreme fights in ARR. Thought it was going to teach me but nope. This definitely needs to be put in as a required tutorial for the game.

I started with my male Miqote, he is still my main char, made a female miqote later on, then other 2 chars to "help" new members that I wanted that brand new fresh feeling, later on they quit so no point keeping them. Male Viera came and I really liked him too but didn't want to fantasia my Miqote since I really like his model as well. I think in the end I will stay with my Miqote (Smn/mage/healer jobs) and a Male Viera (ranged dps/nin/tank) for an alt server the raiding part is true too is faster/easier to build at the endgame countent with alts if you are interested in different roles too.

line aoe: the person in the front takes most damage, stand behind your tank but in the line also 'donut aoe' is not the old term, the old terms are dynamo for the donut and chariot for it's inverted counterpart

Okay, but the Zenos Everywhere system would actually be something that Canon Zenos would do. Some context for the unknowing: This is a spoof of the Majima Everywhere system from Yakuza Kiwami. The main protag has been in jail for 10 years, so he's extremely rusty and no good at fighting. Majima, his frenemy/rival, decides that in order for the main protag to survive, he needs to ambush him literally everywhere and attack him. This is so our main protag can dust off his fighting skills and gain the strength needed to go after the true bad guys, basically a stealth mentor/exp grinding situation. If the WoL ever got rusty, you bet Zenos would pop up everywhere randomly to give them a fight just so they'd be in their physical prime when it's time for that final showdown.

Good list, I would add a bit to it from my own experience, without mentioning big changes that are required - such as housing and glam dresser rework which are just necessary at this point. So just little QoL changes that would make player's life easier. First of these is a bit clearer separation of what status can be cleansed and what can't. Or whenever player character is getting raised - I mean there are ways to do it, but I would like to see those being implemented and be implemented better. Current display from SE is just a little blue bar that healer may not even notice, but having colored overlay over char's name would be enough to say "Yep, they need cleanse" Also make name color filter by Free company - I would be fine if they just allow people to be able to see who is from your FC and who is not - it could be done in a manner similar to what is already done with a friend list, and I don't think that it would be way more difficult. And give me ability to filter and sort friends list by name, server, fc and status already. As well - let me properly see friends by special groups - my char's wife is the only char in my list that has that special heart icon added to her name, why I can't sort it that whenever she's online, she will appear on top of the list every time? Add Estate Teleportation to party list. It's already in that same window, why I have to make 2 extra steps to do so? In the same manner - let players change party type between local/crossworld from party menu. Let it be leader only option, but just let us do it without starting Partyfinder or inviting someone from another server! There is more but they are much smaller in scale.

Aoes with Gaze only work while in the aoe. You can still stand in the aoe and look away to avoid the effects as melee/tanks. Rang/casters can keep looking at aoe gaze enemies without repercussion as long as they’re not in the aoe. 🥰

Another type of proxy aoe that makes the name "meteor" make less sense can be found in a certain ShB trial (The second one, not saying name for potential spoilers); The proxy aoe is a line down the middle, which negates the whole "meteor" concept but it's still a proxy aoe.

an interesting mechanic that (as far as i know?) only comes up once in the game: a stack gaze marker. it’s on the last boss of the final HW alliance raid, and requires you to stand in the stack marker while facing away from the marked player.

the only thing i dont like about legacy mode is i cant turn my camera at all without it turning me. sometimes im trying to run forward and look to left or right or even behind but in legacy any movement of ur camera turns you and moves you that way. i cant figure out a way around this
