How to Learn Licks using the Bebop Scale! (Bebop Series Part 3)
มุมมอง 7K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hey! This is the 3rd part of the Bebop scale series that I've been doing over the last few months. This video focuses on using the scale to internalize licks/language. I recently started a subscription service on my website called "Shed with Cecil," where you have access to weekly lesson videos (w/assignments), PDFs, and an interactive forum where you can get feedback from me and talk with othe...

Tea For Two - Ari and Cecil Alexander
มุมมอง 2K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
"Tea For Two" by Vincent Youmans. This is such a fun tune with incredible versions by some of our favorite artists such as Anita O'Day, Art Tatum, Nicholas Payton and Ella Fitzgerald. What is your favorite version of this standard? Admittedly, this interpretation one took us a little longer to get together because we had slightly different expectations for the tempo of the tune due to having li...

How to Use the Major Bebop Scale- Bebop Series Part 1
มุมมอง 24K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
The videos are already getting longer! jk here's a quick intro to the major bebop scale. I think this scale is really important for learning to connect and extend phrases, but the scale itself can also give you some hip ideas. All the lines in this video will work over Cmaj7/Cmaj6, but in future videos I'll talk about more applications. I'll be doing a couple of these videos on bebop scales in ...
3 Simple Ways to Play "Outside" - Jazz Guitar Lesson
มุมมอง 29K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
Here are 3 ways you can play outside- the video focuses on Min7 chords but you could apply to any chord type! Going to start uploading quick no-nonsense lessons like this for those of you who (like myself) don't want to sit through a 45 minute lesson video on "the 1 thing these pro guitarists did to become ELITE!" I'll be doing at least a couple more of these- focusing on "outside" stuff specif...

I heard the changes in the solo, all good 👍
The problem is, this video isn’t gonna convince THOSE people. Cuz they don’t understand or even like jazz.
Holy sh..t this is the best bebop class I have heard, sounds like real bebop with simple guidelines. This class is soo underrated, you get the real sound in minutes, not like the Barry Harris method with all that confusing invented terminology.
That’s just ignorance. If you don’t know the language it’s not gonna make any sense. Non musicians might like or not like the “energy” or overall sound of jazz but they really don’t know the language. That’s why so many people (majority) need vocals so they can “understand” what a song is about. But the chords and all that other stuff is just sound
People who say that have a problem with processing melodies at faster tempos. He is composing very beautiful and interesting ideas at light speed! I love it 🔥
😎😎😎🤙🤙🤙
all that on just a stratocaster
Does anyone actually say that "jazz is just random notes"?
tearin it up! killin it!
Hey Cecil, Do you ever use the coltrane kumoi minor scale 1 - 2 - b3 - 5 - 6? And how would you play it up tempo efficiently, it sounds good but it's very ackward.
Freshman Collared Clink. Nice stuff man.
It should be called 'Freshly Shaven'
You must be a wide thinker😊
I love how Cecil doesn't even look at his guitar while going through melodic passages while connecting like a perfect thread into each other. Love watching and hearing you man!!
Watching his picking hand that close to the selector switch during a solo was anxiety inducing. From jazz to county in the blink of an eye 😂
Can you do It using the bridge pickup?
well they were right....
This is perhaps the greatest lesson (and playing) I've ever seen.
so great ! Was searching for this for ages ! thanks a ton dear
one of my favourite ways to play outside is to just throw around a basketball with a friend. but sometimes its nice to bring a bike or skateboard too
Very nice comping 👍 Wish I could pull that of
1000 bpm half notes
Great video! There seems to be a lot of whistley high end in the audio when ur speaking, may want to eq that out if possible
Bravo 👍 Greeting from 🇷🇺 Russia
1:21 bro it's looks like your right hand was picking everything, but it's sounds like a legato. How do you do that ?
I think it's picking close to the neck that gives that effect
Unbelievable player.
How do you make a solid body sound like a archtop
Cecil Alexander!!! airegiN?
Bravissimi !!!🤩
They aren't random at all, but when they feel random - it's time to slow down and think a little...
So what?
Thanks for the soul ❤
Thanks what a talent ❤
Nice
Am endlessly amazed and delighted by your playing, Cecil Alexander! Thank you!
Man I love jazz on a strat… especially in your hands!
Oh yeah Fusion Cecil I dig it 🤟An album please!
You are a bad dude. 😮
You make it look SO easy! Nice!
I was there, Magic!
what tune is this?
I think it's "Firework" by Katy Perry but it could be "Toxic" by Britney Spears aswell. Not sure
@@morwe1739 hahaha, but really what’s the song he’s playing?
@@Idan_the_guitarist2603 It's just a Jazz-Blues in Bb ;)
Fantastic Cecil.
0:29 🥶🥶🥶
and the "people" couldn't be more right
Thanks!!!
You're as good as I've ever heard, next to myself, of course!😊
Cecil these lessons have been fantastic! Such a great distillation of bebop vocabulary and its components. Thank you for being so generous with your knowledge.
good thing cecil is on youtube teaching us free lessons. what a gem
Time to get a hybrid guitar.
Pls consider making an album with this stuff
Hi. This is great playing . I'd love to do a collab. Peace ✌️
