This Cold War coin was minted out of metal from a Soviet nuclear missile. Issued as a 'Token of Friendship', the Disarmament Dollar / Rouble was struck in the wake of the 1987 INF treaty, which saw certain nuclear weapons scrapped. Since it's made from part of a weapon of mass destruction, is this the world's most dangerous coin?

    It's mind boggling that in such a big and history rich country numismatics is a niche hobby. Ive been living here for over 12 years now, but im still active on a polish numismatic market and it's booming out there. Every Facebook group with tens of thousands of people and over here people collect 50p... does anyone know if there's any numismatic societies in North west? Would love to join, but can seem to find any online. I'd like to start collecting greek coins, but at the moment I'm going through literature.

    Not acording to lockdales they said they didnt want early milled coins that were graded some ms and otherd au with 3 in census . They said they wont sell as good as rawr coins they had crude low grade examples with deceiving descriptions 😂. I'll take my business else were . Colectors or buyers want the best as you said and all top selling coins are slabbed true facts.

    Lovely coin, I kind of like old coins that show they were used as such, of course high grade coins of this era are very attractive and expensive but still they lack that flavor of history these circulated coins have!

    • @samabrahams7687
      @samabrahams7687 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree but sometimes a uncirculated gem has history as someone has piked it out of circulation and it's been pride of a collection passed down for many generations. I've got some 1600s coins just been slabbed ms absolutely cracking stuff I love preserving them for future generations

      Thank you for your input! Condition indeed significantly affects a coin's value, and mint condition pieces can fetch much higher prices. We appreciate your passion and welcome further discussions on coin valuations.👍

    ANOTHER COMPLAINT. I call BS. B F’ing S! Nothing worse than removing human sweat and oils from a pristine precious metal. Especially with fluted edges as many coins have, but also from all surfaces of the artifact. If we are lucky enough to come across an object or an artifact that has survived human indifference we should treat it as such. IMO these guy's, though in a position of great importance, are an f'ing joke. They are all about handling the objects and show no desire to preserve the precious objects! BUY or MAKE or USE good f'ing gloves. Try a good material. These jokes of coin handlers are all about handling the object rather than preserving it. I have never subjected any of my important coins that I value to my body oils or sweat. The edges are as important as the surface on all of my coins. I've also spent hours, days, weeks trying to remove the crap these kind of guys put on the coins that I want to add to my core collection. Use a freaking loop already! There are so many great no-fiber cloths available and these guy's don’t even mention them. These are amateurs in disguise. And they made it to where they are now? WTMFF! This video is so wrong. Use a freaking tool to pick-up a valuable artifact, especially a coin. I couldn't imagine them showing an Inverted Jenny. Use proper care. You are treating a valuable coin, artifact, as if it was an Indian head nickel returned in vendor’s candy or soda machine. You picked those up as an amateur would. Glove or not. I would never give one of my core collection coins to these jokers. Technically you don't even need to pick it up. Use a F'ing loop. Use a f'ing tool. If it's valuable gtfu and don't touch it. I am so mad watching these guys. Visit a good museum storeroom (My wife works in one and I revere her) and watch the scientists handle artifacts. GTFU! NOW! REALLY! Stop spreading your amateur BS. I AM SO F'ing MAD at this video. For me if an object is worth something, treat it as such. If it’s one of a kind treat it as such, not as another neat cool thing for you to glee over as having touched it. It's not a freaking 10 year old watch! I am out of words to tell you how bad these "trusted" ‘auctioneers’ are. GEESE! You want pictures? I have them. But these guy’s are wrong and have no want or need to preserve the objects, only to say they touched them at some time.

    My ancestor according to his medal card was awarded the 1915 star and Victory medal but not the British War Medal, he was also awarded a Silver War Badge. This seems a bit odd having read the requirements for the British War Medal, could it be he was wounded within 28 days of arriving in France? He was with 1/6 North Staffordshire Regiment in 1915.

    America has a new top tier grading service as of 2023 called CACG. They're on the same level as PCGS and NGC. ANACS has been grading coins since 1979 and they are credible, but they should not be used for expensive coins as they are a 2nd tier grading service.

    A lovely dad (and teacher) made Mark Smith a collector, connaiseur, professional and international loved person in the BBC Antiques Roadshow! I think he himself has herited this gift for teaching from his father! I enjoy the way he is talking about persons behind medals in such a respectful way. ❤ Love from Holland

    Forgery with something so honourable and representing such bravery, is criminal; and should be punished as if you were a traitor ... And melt all of them down by giving them to a person like Mark Smith. Maybe assurance-companies in modern times should have a special corps to compensate honest buyers and bringing (Chinese a.o.) to international courts? In the art world it is the same, although less important than in this case. What kind of people are making money out of people giving their lifes (or were prepared to do so?) Thanks for making & sharing this. I enjoy the way you are talking with respect and knowledge about medals in the Antiques Roadshow for years. ❤ Love from Holland
