Each year during Mental Health Week, Upbeat Arts produces a concert to feature the talents of our members. Members from across each of our programs join together to inspire and delight us.

Wednesday 20 April 2022 was an exciting day for Upbeat Arts. We launched a new choir at Wavell Heights in Brisbane. The new choir members were joined by members of our original Absolutely Everybody Brisbane Choir and colleagues from the Queensland Mental Health Commission, Queensland Health, Queensland Alliance for Mental Health and many others.

Natasha joined the Absolutely Everybody Brisbane Choir in 2019 and quickly became a committed and integral part of the group. Her energy and lovely smile greets us at each rehearsal and performance.

Luke travels into South Brisbane from Logan each Friday for his rehearsal. It's an invaluable part of his week and he's been a member for several years now.

A key element of the Upbeat Arts choir programs is providing opportunities for our members to perform alongside professional artists. This performance was at the Upbeat Arts annual concert held in 2021 during Queensland Mental Health Week at The Edge Auditorium, State Library of Queensland. The concert was supported by the Queensland Mental Health Commission.

Nerida joined our Absolutely Everybody Brisbane Choir in 2014 - a founding member of the choir! In this short video, Nerida explains how you don't have to be a 'singer' - we think she is though. The choir gives her a 'spring in her step' and she explains how she values being accepted - something she doesn't always experience.

Nabi shares how she has found the choir to be an informal way to build her confidence and connect with people.
