These were a blast to make, haven’t made a set in a while, hopefully can revisit this type of project in the future.

Thanks, I’ve been having fun playing around with resin, it’s really opened up some new options!
Right up my alley!! Zombies all day❤❤😊

This is adorable❤❤
Anything to get active in the studio and creation, we still try not to put them on forward camera a whole lot.
This is amazing❤
Japanese floating ink, also known as suminagashi (墨流し), is a traditional art form that involves creating a marbled design on paper or fabric by floating ink on water. The technique may have originated in Japan as a meditative practice, and examples of suminagashi date back to the 12th century.
I love this! I will research this and may even try this with some inks in the near future. Thanks for your comment and inspiration!
@@JohnByerlyStudios you are very welcome. Look for Turkish(marbling) suminagashi too. Turkish Ebru techniques
You need grooves or holes for grip and also spray adhesive between the foam and clay. It will bond as if one piece
What about drilling small holes for the clay to grip to?
That a good idea, your on the right path. I just made a new diorama base, and I did this hole idea also with wire running through the holes and tightened down to create more strength, I also usually use the hot wire cutter to create a lot of texture for better adhesion. Also plaster works good as a covering before clays.
Don't ask this man how babies are made...
@@MeepMeep88 dang bro, that’s a low blow 😝
Since this is mostly a LinkedIn profile and banner creation video here is my LinkedIn profile so you can see my current up-to-date banners and pictures. www.linkedin.com/in/john-byerly?
What liquid paints are you using?
I used a variety of spray paints, glitters and also Tim Holts Alcohol Inks. Hope this helps 😀
I love all your videos
Holy crap that's incredible
Falling in love with curving clay, such a fun process
This is awesome sir

Amazing❤
Thanks 😄
This is cool!!!! Would like to see how it was put together 😊 Great job! Love the top!
Most definitely, I just released the shore a little bit early. I will be releasing the full creation video at the beginning of December.
@@JohnByerlyStudios ahhh okay! Can’t wait to watch!! I bet it was fun to make 😊
Love how you guys designed it to be easily assembled and disassembled every year. I did the same thing at my house- last year, there was a trending video showing how to decorate your porch posts with jack-o-lanterns. I thought ‘I’m not doing that every year!’ So I designed a wood post that has the pumpkins permanently adhered to it. The whole structure goes up in under 30 minutes each year now. Lighting and all. Happy Halloween!
That’s is awesome! Disassemble I key to keeping our sanity, especially as busy as we all are, were much more likely to want to put up a 30min project than a 3hour, especially when we have so much to do I a single day to prep for the #haunt_house_nc . Thanks for your comment 🎃😊
Good job!! I really think a stone mausoleum should have 'wrought iron' doors though, not wood. Really like it, looks great!
I’ll definitely pass that along, maybe we can make two sets, perhaps on out of pvc pipe for wrought iron rods, and another wood finish. We’ll try to get it on camera!
They look like magots not teeth but scary
Maybe?🤔 I think maggots would be slightly smaller depending on the type, and they would be slightly rippled. Still digging the look though
awesome ty
I think you mean tongue and groove not shiplap, but maybe that is what you mean. Nice mausoleum.
Lol, I didn’t even catch what I said, your right!
Would that work on motorbike plastics
@@johngreensmith63 it should, but I would look up what prep work you would need for best adhesion, and make sure to seal it with a clear coat. You can also order hydro dip sheets to use, they just lay over the water and have instructions.
Nice job. They're very realistic. You've given me some good ideas.
So glad you enjoyed the content! Happy creating!
Mine wont take pictures. Only zoom in and out. How do i fix
Sorry, I’m not sure, I don’t use that feature. I honestly never even used the selfie button, I just set timers. I sure the button just pairs via Bluetooth maybe, but idk about zooming in & out. Best of luck
Your shirt is on inside out :D and I do love the niffler. I am a 75 year old Harry Potter fan and I love the Legacy game I am just hopless on a broom when it comes to racing lol
Your my hero for noticing this! I got done filming everything and thought “eh, no one will notice”. I am the same way, i struggle in those races, the down drafts are brutal. I just run around in Harry Potter legacy and think “I can make that”, (screen shot) I have a long list of things to make, just have to make time. Thanks for your comment, and attention to detail 😊
Where in the instructions did it say stick your finger in the hole to open the 3 legs? In the manual if you call it that, the arrow points to the explandable selfie. You popped the 3 legs out right away. I was literally pulling from the area near the top for over an hr.
@@tomm7721 yea the instructions were pretty basic, sorry to hear you had issues. Hope my content helped
I thought it was a bird at first! Super cool!
I guess the Duck Bill looks very birdish, lol. Who knows maybe a bird will be the next in the magical beast playlist 👀
Thank you for the demo. What accessory set is that in the green box?
Sure thing hope you enjoyed it, it was a fun project. It’s a dremel tool set, I bought this one at either Harbor Freight or Home Depot, cant remember. Heres one on Amazon, just don’t know which one meets the needs you have. WORKPRO 476PCS Rotary Tool Accessories Kit, Rotary Tool Bits for Easy Cutting, Sanding, Grinding, Carving, Polishing, Drilling and Engraving a.co/d/gAXyQTh
Thanks! This really helped.! I'm a visual person and the instructions that came with it didn't help, like you.
Glad my video helped! It’s definitely a good product and I’d buy it again, for the price it can’t be beat.
So cute! Great to see a dad teaching his kid things like this! ❤
Thank you so much, it’s a blast being able to get the kiddos in the studio for some fun memories. Blending some of this type of content into the channel is so enjoyable.
Thankyou they look great luv from Australia xoxox
Nice info, but the music is just awful, too loud and super distracting.
@@OrignialLostintheFifthcorner thanks for your comment, I’ve heard this before, this was a older video in my content creation journey, may even revisit this subject in the future. Thanks
Could something like this be done on cardboard?
Great question, some touch points though. If sculpting airdry Clay whether it to be moved to a different item, for instance I sculpt it on a cardboard surface let it dry and then move to a tumbler or canvas. You can do this, depending on thickness some clays are more brittle than others when moving clay pieces around. If you are using oven-bake Clay you can sculpt the item on the cardboard for temporary to be moved, I would rather see you sculpted the clay on a piece of parchment paper so you can go straight into the oven. If you are trying to attach clay to cardboard like I did in this video you commented on, I would seal the cardboard in a gesso or spray paint first. A few reasons for this, but I the commonality is I would avoid baking cardboard even at low temp, it could have chemicals in it. I will use this and answer this in a video in the new few weeks.
@@JohnByerlyStudios TY. this is helpful. I was thinking of etching in air dry or polymer on canvas- then painting it. Also, want to try applying air dry like Alisa Lariushkina (not ocean scenes like hers) and am researching ways to do that, as well. It will be tedious, but I think worth it. I have various clays here to try all this, and also a seperate convection toaster oven, just for art/crafts. Still watching videos! Love shout outs to your fam :)
@@glowycloey also try using plaster of Paris on canvas, super fun, working on a ocean wave painting with plaster now. Just make a good consistency and have fun shaping it.
You didnt stick thr clay on th3 styrofoam?
I’m confused by your question, I used XPS, loose and medium styrofoam. Are seeking a different type of clay or outcome?
Hi, hope you are well. I, too, am on n art journey and don't want to be pigeon-holed into a corner. This weekend is going to be a bingeathon of your videos. So much info there! I'd enjoy comparison vids, like air dry vs polymer clays, or varnish vs resin coatings etc (That kind of thing may be boring for you, tho) Speaking of resin, how long to cure it when using over polymer clay? I have a 50 watt uv light, and am in a very dry environment. Haven't tried the resin YET, but it's here, ha. Is there a better way to achieve that look (of resin over painted surface)
Love it! Thanks for responding, if you have a question, it’s likely others do also. I will be talking about some clear coats during one of the end stages of my new big project “Magical Beast Niffler Diorama”, so in the next few weeks I’ll try to bring forward a few of these touch points in my content. (Still posting some older content also, lol. I will tag you in the videos pertaining to your inquires. The clear coat over items really depend on one the coverage performance and two the look. If your trying to go for just a protective layer then a clear spray rustoleum (whether flat, satin, or gloss) will give you a good protection. I use UV resin when I need to control the dry, making or avoiding drips, making eyes look glossy, making moss flocking look wet over rocks, ext. and two part epoxy for when I need a full coverage over a item. Note: always try to test the clear coat on a small baked piece of raw or painted clay. Some clear coats over say a polymer can give a sticky texture. Make sure your paints full cured for a few days. And if your going over a spray paint make sure you give the lint time to degas and cure. Uncured paints, underbaked (oven clay), or still damp wet interior (airdry) can make clear coats sticky. Note the 50w uv light should be fine for and UV resin, and if you need a little extra cure put it in a (not hot) but we’ll lit window seal. Again I’ll focus some videos on this in near future projects.
You're not that far from it!
I've recently started with clay. How do you not have more followers? TY for all the content. Learned so much, so far!
I have no idea, the algorithm probably doesn’t like how many forms of art I’m into, either way enjoying the journey. “Life it a garden, dig-it” Joe Dirt, 😉
