To those that are wondering what those three words mean in Chinese: Pong = 3 of a kind, Chi = pass? (Not 100% sure) and Gang = 4 of a kind as am sure translated in English. The reason why she says these words is that once she hears and sees her opponents tiles dumped on table if she sees the opportunity to form either a 3 or 4 of a kind she yells the word and “steals” the tile but must sacrifice 1 from her deck I’ve played Mahjong before it’s quite fun! Normally 4 play but two is also possible. First there’s a dice roll to determine who starts first and it goes clockwise, and determine which tiles to start picking from. Every player must have 13 tiles except for first player on the start only has 14 because he/she will start the game off by sacrificing one tile. The goal depending on the type of game mode but the basic goal is to get a winning hand of 4 suits (straight, 3 or 4 of a kind) and one pair to make up 14 tiles. Note that 4 of a kind the extra tile does not count in deck it’s just for extra points. Each player will have a turn to draw from center of table and decide to keep or play if play because it’s no value then you don’t have to worry, but if you do keep you have to sacrifice 1 from your deck to maintain 13 tiles. You can’t have less than 13 or 14 tiles unless you’re starting off the game as first player OR the 14th tile is used as the winning hand. The game is fun because you can steal opponents tiles played in center to make your suits! Hope that explains the general rule behind it😊
