The series, responder, really does resonate with real life of a front line officer who is and has been working in a busy , challenging , often violent area. After 32yrs service , the job changes you, takes the very goodness out of you and although when your invested in the work, challenges, trial and tribulations , the fun and not so fun parts of the job, the stresses impact on you and those around you. I only wish this was written some time ago and those surround those who put their lives, safety ,life and sanity on the line for everyone else, would've seen it, if only to go some way to try and understand just how the 'job' impacts those who perform it everyday and actually what happens to them.....
I have a Psychological Thriller script. I wrote it originally set in Belfast and played about with it and adapted it and set it in New York. Do I simply pick one or would there be a preference?
These interviews are amazing. Thank you
Daniel had some good advice on a previous webinar so glad we get an in depth interview. Cheers.
This was one of if probably not the most inspiring video I’ve watched of 2024 👏🏼

Could you post the drop-in Zoom meetings?
Hi, we're not recording those.
Hello! Thank you for making this recording available online. I'm aiming to apply this year.
Thankyou for providing this recording. Some helpful advice and insightful questions (and answers).
I wish we had something like this in Norway. ;(
Can’t believe this show is being showed on bbc, disgraceful everyone involved in putting this filth on uk TV
I lovvvvvve this x
That guy Donal Fogarty at 13:28 has a very musical voice and interesting question!
Hi great webinar. Tried to join yesterday but my internet failed and had to drop out about a minute into it. Thanks for making it available to watch.
Do all the writers for OPEN CALL come from VOICES?
”Father Dougal” visits the big citys… or at the olympics…or Redlight district…?
Only comedy-DRAMA < this is why British comedy is dead. 18 and over < the BBC's most successful sitcom of the 00's was *2 PINTS OF LAGER AND A PACKET OF CRISPS* < pilot written by a 16-year old Susan Nickson. #ReThinkPolicy ;-)
Thank you so much for these.
Damn it! I live in Spain 😭
Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this is going to go down in history as a classic. Every scene was well done, with gentility and a refined sense of prose and drama. It’s become one of my favorite tv series.
Seen 4 out of the 8 episodes. Shan't bother with the rest. Don't get me wrong. The acting is superb. The concept / story-line is admirable. But the flow? TERRIBLE!!! The viewer is hurled between time zones every minute or so. Back. Forward. Back. Forward. You're having to constantly think "black face, black hair" or "black face, grey hair", for more than one character. It shouldn't have to be an effort to think "oh this is now" / "oh this was in the past". What was wrong with showing events in sequence? Too boring? That's what made the "Temple" series with Mark Strong such an ordeal. Sorry, but not for me!
Thank you so much for releasing these, they are amazing to listen to as a new kid on the block
Amazingly talented writer. I love all these videos, thank you
Really nice interview!
What a fantastic interview.
Night sleeper highspot for me was the return of Frank (Shameless) wearing a "Slaughter and the dogs" shirt. Vintage Manc.
Great video, loved the interview and Nick Leather
The dialogue on the NightSleeper is way too cringy to finish the season. It became almost slapstick in parts.
Great interview! Loved it. Thank you for your advice, Helen, and BBC Writers for interviewing Helen.
He would really choose 'I may destroy you'. I understand the plot was interesting but the overall writing was mediocre.
The production company he co-owns (Various Artists Ltd) produced I May Destroy You.
@@Saigeee333 So that’s why. Thanks.
Succession has some of the best writing that has ever been put on the screen, brilliant
Great interview. And he's spot on about writing...I write in exactly the same fashion; unfortunately, I don't get paid for my writing, but it's still something I *have* to do!
Thanks for this!
Very Best witty writer.
The Whistleblowers - series 2007- predicted the corona virus -
"Promosm" 😢
"Don't get it right, get it written" are wise words.
when was this interview?
Hi, this was recorded before our live event with Jesse Armstrong in the BBC's Radio Theatre in London on 27th October 2023.
listening to feedback. i dont think Hussle T Races ( is that his name ) does that.
R.I.P DOCTOR WHO 1963 - 2017
Grow up
@@joebrookscomedyWhy are you booing him, he's right?
@ajax4887 Shows still going, I'm watching, so are millions. It's cracking. If you can't change with the show, then I'm sorry. Enjoy those cracking 54 years
Helen Black
I love what Dennis says at 2:00, fundamentally we don't really know what people are capable of until we push the right (or wrong) sequence of butttons and I think the same applies with characters. Some of their motivation is circumstantial and some is inherent.
Thank you very much!
Thanks. Really insightful
I missed the live webinar so very happy its on TH-cam.
We have six minute episode TV. It's called Anime. 3 minute recap, 5 minute intro song, 6 minutes of actual show, 2 minutes sneak-peak of the next episode, and a 10 minute credit/outro song
‘Listen to Feedback!’ Something ain’t right here🤔
Is this the Stephen Moffat who apparently said that his job at the BBC was to "kinda tell lies" by reimag lining history by. putting black people front and centre of everything because that is better. Or was that another Stephen Moffat?
