Excellent. When was this and how deep did you dive?
We usually go to around 40-50 mts and then obviously spend time on deco when I filmed . I had forget my housing to take all the way hence the shallow footage . If you haunt dived there the viz is always very good
@ I’ve been loving your diving videos. I’ve only just passed my open water so limited to 18 meters. I’m looking at dive sites. I’ve bought myself some second hand kit which I’ll be getting servicing soon. No dry suit certificate either so waiting for weather to warm up a bit :) I’m right next to Capernwray. So I might do more training there and find dive buddies. The video at Birks Bridge you did was great. I’ve swam there a few times. Excellent videos.
@@SoulFlask You only need someone to show you the dry suite skills you don't need to do a course , I have a top of the range semi dry suite if you are interested I have dived in it 5 times only, depends on your size
@ right. I didn’t know that. But you can’t hire one without being ticked off on it? I’m 6’5”
@@SoulFlask Just buy one and ask someone if you come to the lakes when we are next up I will show you FOC if you can afford it get the Otter they are EASILY the best
Very cool. Explored these mines the other day and wondered what lay down below.
Great place
Loved this explore. liked and shared as much as i could .Thanks for sharing , happy new year all the best for 2025 x
Hope you enjoy the rest of our channel . We have another we have just started called " Generation X Cycling " if its of interest
Excellent progress. And just in time for Christmas!
WE are up in the lakes for Xmas Top, gonna try some gentle gravel biking and some easy scuba . Have a nice Christmas buddy
@patterdaledivecave3545 maybe some gentle flutter kick will do it good (no idea about frog though?)
hope your recover soon, and get back underground, take care my friend
Thank you !
Are you still caving yourself ???
@@patterdaledivecave3545 yeah, getting back into it since the pandemic has been slower but managed Moel Fferna a few weeks ago, was great, but since the pandemic I'm a bit rounder in the middle so getting back into SRT is tougher than it used to be, but I just need to keep practicing and getting out and hopefully get back into shape :D
You can get there, trust me we all take our mobility for granted
@@patterdaledivecave3545 very true, even i'm guilty of exactly that, but with some determination will get back back to it
Uuuuuuuuugh! Get well soon bud :)
Thank You Ian .I think you will be heading down this road TBH . I paid for this one as i wasn't going to do two NHS wait time, I had to wait 9 days down the private route . I'm going to the same hospital to see the same surgeon tomorrow with the right NHS one .
Keep gently moving it. Get well soon
Thanks Tom
We did LRNC not long after its discovery. The wet bit near the entrance which you've illuminated so well with an underwater torch was memorable. Great video. Would love to see a version without the muzak which has destroyed the soundtrack.
Watch the video " The making of LNRC Video "
Best of luck with the knees!
Thanks budcy that means a lot
Lovely film as always, thanks for taking all that time to share it. Please don't make it the last video
I do hope not Tom will have to see how we go when I had my knees replaced. As I am I can barely walk they have just gone all of a sudden`, saw the surgeon yesterday so should have one done before Xmas, can still go on the bike a bit we have a channel called Generation X Cycling if you want to follow that its new but can post on there . AS you know caving ect can be brutal on the body
@patterdaledivecave3545 about two months ago walking with someone and his wife and their dog (she was a relative of my wife I'd not met them before). He's only 50 or so. He was walking fine and I was astonished when he said he'd had a knee replaced 4 months before. Everyone is different but it worked really well for him, it can be a great thing, so good luck with the knees!!
@@tomtom4405 well im determined Tom im no quitter
Looked like the water level was knee-deep. It hit my knackers when I was there (probably 15+ years ago). Nice to see it hasn't changed at all really. Your two visitors looked like F15s - probably Americans from their base in Lakenheath (they come up to fly through the "loop" at Cadair Idris). Excellent video :o)
The water was surprisingly low we have seen the bottom adit sump out a few years ago
Wich level is this, 3?
That was one of the first mines I went to explore (perhaps 20 years ago now). The walk up was a steep little bugger. The long adit in was flooded to my waist and it was the first experience I had of a “wet trip” (they quickly got much wetter of course). It was also the first time I had seen flooded chambers (thought you might dive it but Sue was dragging a load of gear in). You can also walk around some narrow paths at the top of a couple of chambers - dodgy as hell though! There were also a number of short adits on the other side (where you were pointing early on to explain the valley). None connected to each other, but a couple had some caverns and were interesting.
We did dive it a few years back Ian
Think you need a doctor you say a couple of words and sound out of breath
Lungs not in good shape after COVID I was in hospital for 7 weeks buts thanks for reminding me I had almost forgot about my breathlessness
Thank you for uploading 😊
ASMR for ex cavers ❤
ASMR ?
👍
Mineral seams looked ‘friendly’ but yeah poor quality slate like Cambrian. Wonder if quality got better deeper.
There are lots of flooded levels below
Great adventure, Bravo!
Looks fantastic Paul
30 years diving and just treated myself to a 300 bar portable compressor makes life easy
@@patterdaledivecave3545 yup. Autonomy
Thank you for the video, but seems its too risky for me.
It is a beautiful place i was there on Sunday morning.
Alfie's videos keep get better!
excellent video as always .
Nice little video, plenty to see. I appreciate you didn't want to narrate where the mine was but you know you included the name in the title of the video, right? Looking forward to Part 2 - there did seem to be an awful lot of puffing and panting during ALL your narration - more steroids! :o)
Sadly the quarry is already all over TH-cam with the name etc, so I don't think mentioning the name in the narration does any harm.
Covid damage to my lungs hadnt had my inhaler and why I dont like narration because Im fully aware of my breathlessness
Are those rhododendron bushes outside? Nice flowers.
Thank you so much for sharing your journey with this little known jewel of a breed. I think they are such a healthy, useful breed because popularity hasnt ruined them like so many other breeds.
We have a channel specially for him pop on alfie the patterdale terrier on YT Im sure you will love it ?
Looks a lovely little trip, good to see Alfie brought his humans with him too!
Narration for me (you gave us the choice, right? :o) ) So much easier caving if you happen to a small woofer with 4 legs. Looking forward to your North Wales Slate Mines visit next ...
Doe’s the photographer have an Instagram account or website where I could purchase some of the images?
you could contact me duggeedub@proton.me
@@patterdaledivecave3545 I have emailed you, thank you
Should mask your reg, even if just white paper and blu tac. Don't underestimate the number of weirdos on the internet and you can lookup details from registrations
What can they find out apart from the mot details ect ?
My ex wife’s HRT patch once came off in bed and I woke up with it stuck to me. Never been same since
Still eagerly waiting for the dive part 1 and part 2, you're keeping us in suspense 😁 Fir rhise of us who are nisy a d hoping to learn, pkease feed us as much info as you have patience to do, like water temp and if you canget away with a cave undersuit rather than full dry suit under suit or if the cylinders are 7s or not as well as pressure, why no oversuit to protect dry suit on a dive like this (and would that interfere with a shoulder dump anyway?). Sorry trying to suck every scrap of info I can. Thanks
They are already on the channel Tom & I also do mention the size of cylinders and even the pressure I have in them, including comments on kit choice ect ect . Tom are you skip watching or just not taking things in the same cos of your age PMSL???
Commentary please
Attempts to keep water out of Wellies are ALWAYS futile lol. Some of the river passageway looked exactly like Poacher's Cave in North Wales (but without the glacial sediment). I still the narration is an improvement - nice job! :o)
In a cave like that you need wellies with drain holes
@@tomtom4405 thats what we usually use but didnt have them, and I still like the occasional cchallange to try and keep your feet dry even though you know its impossible LOL
That cave couldn’t be in South Wales, there was no gate at the entrance! (Shock, Horror!) I caught the immortal words of the forgotten caver “I’m Stuck” - Of course, you never are (unless you are). Nice change to have the narration. You also appear to have forgotten one the very basic rules of caving, which is, attempting to prevent water from going over wellies is always futile - don’t bother even trying lol. You could, if you wanted, run some subdued background music behind the narration. Perhaps with some blasts of Horror sounds right after the words “I’m Stuck!” - keeps the old ticker going for armchair cavers (or stops it altogether). Looking forward to part2 ….
I though about music but thought you would complane PMSL and yes know what you mean about gates and access issues. Oh the last video that went up had speaking AND music did you not see it ?
@@patterdaledivecave3545 Yes I did ...I did post a comment too :p
@@Henllan So which version do you like ?
@@patterdaledivecave3545 So, it’s not really about what I prefer, more what works for folk and what you like to do yourself. All the stuff I did was really just vanity videos, I wasn’t bothered about views and I never monetarised any video at all. If you are doing your videos because you enjoy them, then stick to what you prefer (try to do new things if they take your fancy). On the other hand, if you are soliciting views or trying to make money you need BIG catchy headlines and lots of DRAMA. In either case, you can use background music that is the same volume as your narration, except that, during the times you are talking, you drop the music volume down by 75% (like they do in movies). Of course, for that to be effective, you should aim to narrate only 50% of the time. It can all get to be too much of a pfaff though. So, stick to what YOU want to do :o)
@@Henllan Ha I dont think I will ever make any money the topic hasnt got a wide enough audience, do appreciate your views though TBH . I have a zippy new computer and and upgraded editing suite as you may have guessed with the intros and ending . It gives me /us a lot of pleasure doing things together .
A great vid, brought back great memories of days spent there in the 70's no fancy videos back then. Bridge cave sump was my first dive, great times, thanks. You got a new subscriber 👍🏴
Glad you enjoyed it
So glad I found this video, just so i can say thank you for all the work you`ve put into this place. I used to visit the copopermines valley and tilberthwaite area a lot when very young with my dad and have been fascinated by the mines since. we never went in penny rigg to far as it was always flooded, so for me to return a couple of decades later and find its been cleared all the way to the end, i was made up! Couldnt beleave the amount of work done.... and filling those ton bags stacked 3 and 4 high, god only knows how! So thanks again, brilliant! ......... one question i always wondered - i either read or heard years ago that you used to be able to pass all the way through to deep adit/horse level in the coppermines valley, do you know if this is true?
Thank you for your kind words . As for the question at the end I haven't got a definitive answer for you .
@@patterdaledivecave3545 Ok, thanks anyway, sure someone out there may know
Oooooh commentary AND role reversal with the camera ... very cool. I do think the commentary makes a world of difference and its great to see you BOTH in action. :o)
We have done a special one for you in Bridge Cave coming soon .
What's your favourite between Votty & Bowydd and this one?
Like em both but prob this one as its much bigger , You ?
Was watching with interest until I saw the words "Bananarama" - left the video in horror!!
Looks great there 👍
Theres more to do in there
I might of missed them but i didn't see any footage of what we call the wishing well, it's a pool of water thats filtered through the limestone. Also some other chambers named was piano chamber because there's a large slab of rock in the shape of a grand piano and also Queens chamber where you can still see the bracket from a chandelier on the ceiling from when Queen Victoria visited.
You need to visit numerous times to see most things , we have had dozens of trips and still find new stuff all the time
@patterdaleminecave3545 definitely there's so much to see and so many passages especially down what we call the maze, i actually have 2 old maps of the workings from my dad and some area's are gone and other's have appeared through rockfalls with Cumberland being a natural cavern.
I met quite a few of the Troggs my dad was 1 of them, the stories and image a lot of people had/have aren't true, he still has paper cuttings where they were mentioned. Ive been down there myself many times and slept down there too it's a really nice mine/cavern and you can spend a whole day exploring which messes with you a bit when you go in during the day then come out to darkness lol.
Blimey, is there no part of the country you haven't been? Nice explore though :o)
Ha Ha theres plenty yet to go at , Im lucky to have a wife that wants to join in !
Just come across your channel (watched your long churn cave video from 2 years ago). Really interesting videos as we’re looking at joining a potholing club. Subbed to see more 🙂
Thanks for your sub, hope you enjoy our other vids
Used to live in Nenthead. We went for a walk all around the area of the Mines but never went into the Mines though. Very interesting. Thank you for this amazing video.
Part three will come soon . If you check our channel there are more from the Different mines on the Nenthead site.
Thanks for showing us around
Well done on your walk Funky. Its a cool place isnt it. Really special.
Very nice video 👌 is it possible to visit this mine year around?
Yes although it is gated and you have to get permission and the key and then book yourself in
Nice video and equipament
Thanks we like to keep our kit as simple as possible we do side mount as well when needed , although I do find filming easier with them on my back, take a look at some of our others .
Can i get the post code
I haven't a clue what the post code is sorry
