Cub Scout Uniform, Class A and Class B
มุมมอง 10K7 ปีที่แล้ว
The uniform doesn't make a scout a scout, but it helps to identify them. Class A and Class B uniforms are worn by scouts all across the nation. Class A uniforms are the blue and tan uniforms that everyone identifies as a cub scout or boy scout uniform. Class B uniforms however come in a wide verity of colors and designs, these can be created by your local t-shirt designer or ordered from online...

Upcoming Video Announcement Regarding Uniforms
Where’s the link?
Thank you! The directions and pictures were a little unclear in the book.
Thanks man!!
Hi
Hi
I think trifty is being polite 😇
THRIFTY means to be careful with what you have...supplies, money , don not waste of needless stuff...plan your resources , think ahead...bless ya !!
You never actually stated what "Class B" uniforms are. I visited the website you mentioned and I'm getting the sense that they're just matching T-Shirts, but I was hoping to understand if there's more to it than that. I'm also having trouble finding a classic design for class B shirts (regular Wolf Cub scout Logo in Navy Blue on a gold shirt).
Thank you! This video filled in the blanks for the directions in the leader guide.
Awesome thank you! Being a Cub Master I’ve been looking for something to show my den leaders for fun and crafts. Keep up the HELPFUL jobs
😂 memories
Things have changed in the 55 years since I was a cub scout. It was only for 3 years (3rd - 5th grades) and the ranks were, in order: Wolf, Bear, Lion. There were few awards at the time, mostly in arrowhead patches worn under the rank during which it was earned. All the insignia, except for the little "Bobcat" pin, were sewn on, meaning that must Cub Scouts could only afford one uniform and, when outgrown (as children are constantly growing), a whole new uniform would be needed, and the patches were difficult to cut off one uniform and sew on the new uniform with any neatness. Additionally, some elected offices within the "den" were temporary, and the patch would be placed in one spot when active, and in another spot when the term of office expired. There was only one hat, not one of the high-panel hats shown but a blue hat with stripes and an emblem, which was to be worn at a precise five-degree angle to one side (I don't recall which side). This was so that if someone wanted to win an inspection patch, the inspector (usually a scout master from the Boy Scouts) could say it was not precisely at five degrees and fail to give the recipient the full 100% needed for the patch. I tried two times to win an inspection and was failed both times on the five degree rule. I think they only had a few patches to give out. There were no lifesaving awards, translator awards (remember these were 8, 9, and 10 year old boys), and the brass plating on the little belt buckles wore off within a few months, as did the enamel on the neckerchief slide. The yellow neckerchief was worn over the collar. The den number (a Cub Scout could be a member of only one den at a time) was on the opposite sleeve from the pack number. Although it was, at the time, only for boys (girls had a separate organization), the "Den Mother" was always a woman.
Thought the den number went under the flag patch
55 years ago there was no flag patch.
Wtf! Shotgun a d%!@
Wow! Good job! My dad has been a scout sense the 1970’s or 80’s
Thanks for the help
enjoying the videos. Just started Cub Scouts with my son and daughter. My son is a Tiger and my daughter a Bear. I recently became the Assistant den leader of my daughter's all girl den. Being that there's not enough girls in our pack we have 2 Tigers, 2 wolves and 2 bears in our den. I to was an Arrow of Light recipient and made it about 6 months in boy scouts then lost interest. Your videos are really helping to refresh my memory on things. Thanks! Hope all is well since you haven't uploaded a new video in a year and hope you guys have continued in Scouting.
Measurements? Good information but i really needed measurements:-)
Is there any video as to how you altered the shirt so it can be let out later?
Sakiteut
The world scout crest IS required for that
Pro tip but cheap green pants and shorts so you don't have to pay a lot of money for them
Yes!!! They arent strict about it which is such a money saver. I wear them to my troop meeting all the time.
Very cool. Once of my favorite experiments like 3
very cool like 3
The BSA uniforms in general have gone down hill over the past 50 years or so. It’s become less universal and more “dress casual”. I’ve had conversations with scouts and scout masters and even parents about this and most women of them agree with me. There should be two uniforms. ClassA and classB. ClassA you wear during troop meetings or for public interactions. ClassB should be for camping but should mirror the class A’s. Both should go back to looking like the uniforms of the 1940’s! OD GREEN trousers and length by sleeve shirt, black or brown leather boots with OD leggings.
Just bought everything except for the vest and pants and it was over $130. The pants are $45 and they don't come in "sizes" you have to buy it and get it altered.
There are two uniforms, class B is called your street clothes in which you wear on hikes or when you are doing service projects. Class A is the uniform he is wearing, which hasn't changed. There are just two types of class A. One is for cub scouts and the other one is for Boy Scouts.
I am a veteran and have worn the flag on my uniform everyday for 20 years. Proper flag direction always has the flag moving forward. This requires the blue field and stars facing front and the strips trailing toward your back. The way the flag is on the scouting uniform represents the flag in retreat. The colors are never supposed to be shown in retreat in the same way the flag is never flown upside down unless as a signal for distress. I know the scouts have decided that this is the way it will be worn on their uniforms regardless of right or wrong display and is not meant to dishonor our nations flag.
I had a similar situation with scouting and trying to get my Eagle. My troop had an issue with scouts getting their Eagle, then quitting. When I was younger, I actually thought that was the way it worked because everybody did it. Well, the troop leaders were all dads of scouts, and when the scout left, so would they. I was almost done earning my Life rank when the troop became inactive due to lack of leadership. Now I have a 7 year old son who is starting scouts. He first meeting is tonight actually. I will be unable to go to meetings with him due to work, but I'm looking forward to helping with weekend activities. I think I'm as excited to get back into scouting as he is to start.
I'm a boy scout going to camp keowa july 30 -August 5. this really helped me
Nice!
This is great! So, each scout had their own string and let their balloon go? What type of straw? just any kind of regular drinking straw? Do you think it would work with yarn? Trying not to have to go buy a bunch of stuff. Thanks in advance!
Celeste Pavlik yes each Scout gets their own string and their own balloon to let go up. I posted a video on my channel my Scout doing this activity. I'm not sure how yarn would work with it being thicker but it should only offer a little bit more resistance so it won't go quite as far. any straw should work I would think that the Bendy straws might cause some issues. I got my straws from a gas station.
Thanks! Scout meeting tonight!
Thanks! Very helpful, using this week!
