Bogs and Ponds Around Moosehead Lake
Waking up for the sunrise pays off big time when heading for the local bogs! Meg finds herself in near panic mode when the wind picks up on local Indian Pond. Then we both enjoy some swimming on a private beach on Lower Wilson Pond.

Maine Moose Hunt 2023

Meg is finally chosen for a Maine moose permit, an antlered (bull) permit nonetheless! Rob is her sub-permittee and Maine Guide (he now has his Guide license!) We head to zone 5, which is east of the Allagash, north of Baxter State Park, and west of Ashland. Our friend, Nate, joins us and takes over the camera for the week. We prepared with lots of scouting, lots of gathering of equipment, and ...

Thanks so much for sharing your story 👍👍🙏🫎
Thank you for watching and enjoying my story! -Meg
One of if not the best video of the hunt and the story I’ve ever watched !
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it!!
Awesome video. Keep up the good work
Hey dang! Hats off to the Lady Hunter! True SportsWomen there! Enjoyed this Video. Used to drive the logging road from Moosehead/ Greenville to West Branch of the Penobscot to go Fishing, saw my First Moose, and many, many more.
Thanks for the kind words! We love Moosehead and everything north of there, feels like home to us!
Will not subscribe because your buddy is drinking Bud Light
Did you find any sheds? We are 0 for 2😂
❤❤
This footage is from March 2, 2024
Hey Rob & Meg Congratulations, what a fantastic high quality video. It felt like I was there with you. Meg kudos to you for passing on that first shooting opportunity you had. I took a shot like that this past deer season, wounded the deer and was never able to recover it. I still regret that! Best to you both. (Nate's Dad)
This video wouldn’t have been the same without Nate as commentator! I love having this to look back on!! Glad you enjoyed! -Meg
Have you guys been over to 15 mile stream in the forks with the ATVs?
We’ve been to Northern Outdoors in the Forks for food and gas, then back to Greenville.. haven’t been to 15 mile stream though
@@UptaCampMaine They have great food that's our go to place.

@@jamesoliver565 nice! We’ll have to check it out!
@@UptaCampMaine love seeing all the familar places. We are just before lower Wilson bridge
Lol I have watched people fixing a toilet for 15 min this isn't boring.😂
We drive by that house to get to our camp.. funny
Just found your channel. We have a camp in Greenville. I love it there
The best place on earth! My unbiased opinion…
@@UptaCampMaine totally. I am heading up next week
@@jamesoliver565 nice! You plan on doing any fishing?
@@UptaCampMaine I haven't gotten into t ice fishing yet. But it's in the plans.

Edit your video. Too long and uninteresting
Hey guys, not trying to be a jerk, but it’s illegal to use a drone in any way connected to hunting big game in Maine. Scouting, locating, recovery, any of it. I double checked to make sure.
Thanks for the concern. The drone was used outside of the hunting season… before and after. Never during. It can be used for scouting outside of the season, just like a plane would be used.
@@UptaCampMainelink? I see ambiguity….but I am not a fantastic Google operator.
@@nailswood167 Airborne hunting: A person on the ground or airborne may not use aircraft (including drones & remote-controlled aircraft) to aid or assist in hunting deer, bear, or moose. We never flew while hunting, only before and after hunting. Scouting before the season begins is not considered hunting.
@@UptaCampMaine, sure, except it assisted you and the law says nothing about season restrictions. You did see bear and it was bear season. Anyway, I think the discussion is larger than legality and crosses in to ethics, as wild game have not evolved and our technology keeps making it easier to locate and harvest. I am glad you harvested!
@@nailswood167 I agree that we need to keep fair chase laws up to date with technology, but at the moment Maine does not have laws against pre season scouting with aircraft. Most outfitters have been using planes for many years to locate target bulls pre season. I do want to add that we saw the bear while driving, not with the drone. I appreciate you both for making sure laws were followed. Safety and legality are the two most important parts of any hunt for me.
Man what a great story guys! Such sincerity and genuine emotion. None of the phoney crap you see in so many vids. I loved this video. Jim
Thank you for the kind words!
Tenderloins are the Hunter's Reward, and should never make it out of camp!
"shot one in the ass..." THAT was dang unfortunate! People who have never spent any time in the North Woods have NO IDEA how FAST Moose are! (not saying YOU are one of them, but there's bound to be somebody who hears you say that & starts sounding off with zero tools in their Knowledge Box) Moose only LOOK ungainly & awkward. Even the heaviest bulls with the biggest headgear will TURN & BURN in the blink of an eye. They can spin around and disappear back the way they came, and there's nothing you can do about it. It's amazing how the world's biggest deer can perform a vanishing act that would fool Penn & Teller! It's "now you see them/now you don't"... as you watch a Black Hole slip thru a solid wall of brilliant gold & red, you're left wondering "How did he get those giant paddles and picket fences thru there?--and without making a sound?!?"
Sorry i dont wanna fish that bad 😂 i can wait till spring 😂😂
Poor fish probably thinks he's been jersey into hell. 😢
Imagine what the worm was thinking!!😂
The best stuff to bring in moose is cabbage 🥬 with road salt on it . 😊
Congratulations on a wonderful moose hunt. I really enjoyed the video.A piece of advice, after you shoot don't jump up and down and carry on.Stay still and quiet. That can make the difference of an animal peacefully dying of getting an adrenaline rush and running off.
Ten years ago I paddled the AWW solo. It had rained about two weeks and water levels were high. Interesting to see lock dam , water was so high the outlet of the dam was completely submerged. Still my favorite outbound trip.
Beer just makes you dehydrated butt head.
Fantastic spot for camping ! Keep the location secret
Absolutely 👍🏻
It amazes me how a critter that small ,can sound like a 200# buck!
Seriously the loudest little creatures!
Don’t know about hunting with someone that cries. Except a young kid. Probably too emotional to be hunting. Perhaps rethink being a hunter.Grow up first.
You're obviously one of those fake tough guys, eh? You fool. Jim
Just came across your channel. I've never made that far up North. But I hope one day while I'm still semi mobile to see the beautiful woods. Absolutely fantastic drone shots! The surplus radio shack is awesome as well. Having a good woman that joins you on hunts is as good as it can get. I'll be going back and watching your previous video's. Plus you got a new sub
Wow, very kind of you! Thank you!! Rob has his Maine Guide license now and we own a camp from the 1950’s at Moosehead Lake, that we rent out. If you’re ever interested in joining us, please do reach out! www.airbnb.com/h/uptacampmaine
Poor ole pup with the cone 😮
I know!! Gronk has very bad allergies and is constantly fighting the urge to scratch his face off! So he wears a cone whenever we can’t keep a watchful eye on him, unfortunately. We’ve tried everything to help him, but this is the only way to prevent him from scratching himself to death.
I can't imagine the amount of widows lol
Widow spiders? We don’t have those in Maine!
@@UptaCampMaine we got the short end of the stick in Oklahoma, around this time of year they stay right in the wood. (Black Widows)
@@feliciathagoat1678 we make up for it in frigid temperatures and harsh winters. Haha. It’s currently snowing at our camp… 😊

One of the best videos I've seen this year. Emotions show your thanks for George. Nice work. So did you do Euro mount?
Thank you so much for the kind words! George is at the taxidermist, getting a full shoulder mount. We should have him back in the spring. He will live on our wall at camp where we can appreciate him for the rest of our days!
I know that campsite, Great spot!
Our favorite area in general! Always a wonderful place to visit

Ken Mayo is good people. He got me on a 57-inch bull in 2014. Great vid, it truly showed how the locals go about a moose hunt. Thanks for sharing the experience.

Kenny’s the best! We really enjoyed our week with him.
Just finished watching your video.. it was entertaining. Keep up the good work. After the trigger was pulled I could see the emotions from you meg. Special times for sure. Keep hunting and keep smiling..
