A rare weekday outing to Wales. Perfect riding conditons lead to a fantastic day's ride and breaking a few PR's on Strava. I love my Decoy, its one of the first 2019 models. I've made a few tweaks (shock brakes, bars and Sram AXS shifting). It just loves bike parks. You do more braking than pedalling but having the Eeb power when you need it just helps stretch out a day's riding.

    I’m planning on taking my Sister skydiving next month for her 21st birthday. She’s so pumped and I’m a nervous wreck. Can I ask you just a couple questions? - How long are you in free fall for before you pull the parachute? - How do you know when it’s time to pull the parachute? Like I know it’s before you hit the ground (Lol) but is there a specific time that’s best? Or does it just depend on how long you want to free fall before? - If I pulled it right after I jumped out the plan would it just be a very slow and boring ride down? Or you’re not allowed to pull it that early? - What are the chances the chute won’t open? Is there a backup? - What happens is the backup doesn’t open either? Is there like a worst case scenario plan” if all the chutes don’t work? - After you land how long is the plane ride to get back up? - Am I overreacting/overthinking this and it’s going to be a lot of fun instead? Thank you for answering my questions! Awesome video! -

      I'm not a skydiver and have only done a tandem jump and completed AFF Level 1, so please feel free to correct me. - When I had my first Tandem, time seemed to fly by really fast up in the sky. I believe it lasted around 40 seconds. - If you jump solo, you'll have an altimeter on your wrist to track your altitude. In a Tandem jump, the responsibility lies with your tandem master, so you don't have to worry about anything. The focus is on altitude, not time, once you're in the air. - It's crucial not to pull yourself inside the door frame, as that could lead to catastrophic consequences. However, once you're out of the plane and deploy your parachute early, it becomes a leisurely ride. I'm not certain if it's permitted at 4,000 meters, but if you choose to do a Hop-n-Pop, it's a different scenario. - The USPA publishes annual statistics on the total number of jumps and the fatality rate. In my opinion, the fatality rate is quite low (one fatality per 200,000 jumps in 2022). While people often compare skydiving to various activities, it's best to conduct your own research using Google. Several safety measures are in place to ensure skydiving is as safe as possible, such as the automatic activation device (AAD). This device activates your backup chute if you reach a specific altitude, especially useful if you become unconscious. - If you're skydiving solo, you need to be familiar with emergency procedures in case something goes wrong. The likelihood of experiencing a "faulty" main and reserve parachute is minimal. Most accidents occur due to user error. - It typically takes around 20-25 minutes to ascend back to 4,000 meters. Additionally, the time required to pack the parachute varies between 20-50 minutes, depending on your level of expertise. - Yes. While it's essential to consider these factors beforehand rather than when you're at the door frame, skydiving is an incredibly enjoyable experience. I can assure you that you'll be smiling non-stop for at least a whole day, pinky promise.

      👍 I’ve watched a reviewer complaining about noise it makes (motor/derailleur?) when shifting gears, have you experienced anything like that?

    • @exzygosis
      @exzygosis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't really noticed any exceptional noise, the motor whirs a bit more in a low gear on the climbs but I think that's normal and gets quieter as you change down in to higher gears from mid range, it's certainly never bothered me. I also saw a review mentioning noisy gear changes but again I've never noticed anything exceptional. The cassette is a bit beefier than a non eMTB, so there maybe slightly more noise but I've honestly never noticed it. Because of the high torque you get into the habit of changing up or down the gears without too much load on the pedals otherwise this could make it noisier and also increase wear on the running gear. I've found that the gears index really well, they're very precise and I've never experienced anything that was out of the ordinary.

    Hows the bike feel mate. Looking to get one for myself this season but im a bit sceptical of the length of these things. im 5,8 and looking at getting the M/L

    • @exzygosis
      @exzygosis 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, thanks for asking, the bike is fantastic, I love it. I've had it for just over a year and ridden it all around where I live in the Surrey Hills. I've taken it to ride in Andorra including the Val Nord bike park and a couple of times at Bike Park Wales. Don't worry about the length, it doesn't feel anything exceptional, the length gives it tons of stability and just soaks up everything and let's you ride with total confidence. Mine is the M/L and I'm 5'7 and perfect for me. The guys at Bird are brilliant, you can demo the bike and talk to the guys that own the company and designed the bikes directly about the exact spec you want for your style of riding. I can't recommend it enough. Good luck!

      Hi Toby, These are a consolidation of some of the nicest runs and so not consecutive trails (there's a little bit of grind to get to 'em in between!) but it's a great trail centre, especially in the dry. You can ride it as leisurely or as aggressively as you like. I wear pads all the time out of personal choice and they have saved me from a good few bumps and scrapes over the years but it's really up to you. Have a great time and thanks very much for the nice feed back. Cheers Phil

    How did you get on to this trail as we live in Godstone and can't find it? Cheers

    • @exzygosis
      @exzygosis 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Stuart, I ride up passed the Orpheus centre (North Park Lane) to View Point and then East heading towards the Bridge over the A22. (Ride behind the bench at the start of the down hill for about 50 yds and then drop down the bank back onto the trail. Follow the trail taking the right fork half way down and then over the A22 bridge, turn right and keep going for about 100 yds taking the trail on the left off the unmade road, down the steps to the Britannia storage buildings, continue up the hill towards Woldingham School and through the barrier down Hill towards the school, at the bottom of the hill turn right and then immediately left (graveyard on the right). Up the hill until you reach your first right, up a long steep trail and keep going until get to Great Church Wood. (It's a bit tricky to describe from there but basically follow the main trail until you reach two great rideable trenches and a large bowl, me and my mates call it the "Bomb Hole". Drop into the bowl (a little scary the first time) and follow the path back up and out the other side and to the main path out of the wood to Flower Lane. Turn left onto the road and immediately right and look for a path shortly after on the right that is parallel with the road and follow this trail to the end where you'll have to drop back on to the road for about 100 yds and then look to the right for a long path back up to Flower Lane. At the top of the trail on Flower Lane, you'll see a trail on your left, bomb down this trail until you rejoin Flower Lane at the bottom (look out for tree stumps and a fast, loose stoney right hand bend at the bottom to the road. You're then on Flower Lane and that's the end of the route. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, it's my favourite route around here. Cheers Phil
