Kia K900 Secondary Air Filter Replacement (2015-2018 w/ V8)
#Kia #k900 #maintenance #filter #airfilters #diy
In this video, I’ll walk you through exactly how to replace your secondary engine air filter in your 2015-2018 Kia K900 with a V8 equipped engine.
• What does my engine air filter do exactly?
Just like us, an engine needs to breathe clean air for best performance. Ever been running and have a bug fly into your mouth? Yeah, me too unfortunately. I wish I would have had something to block it. Good news for your engine, it does! Your engine air filter helps keep out things like bugs, dust, debris and anything else that could possibly attempt to enter your air cleaner/filter housing. The cleaner the air, the better the performance.
• When should I replace my engine air filter?
Almost everything mechanical has a scheduled maintenance routine. Kind of like us going to the doctor for an annual checkup. Once a year we should go to see our local doctor/healthcare provider to see how everything is going. Same goes for our vehicles. You should replace your engine air filter about once per year or as needed based of your scheduled maintenance as outlined in your owners manual. Simple things like your engine air filter can help keep your vehicle performing at its best and keep your MPG’s up. A dirty filter can cause lack in performance and if bad enough, cause your MPG’s to not be as optimal as they could be.
• Do I have to buy an OEM part?
Simple answer is no but not all parts are created equal. Look, it’s your vehicle and your money so whatever you deem “good enough” is on you. Over my years as a technician I have seen some interesting stuff but OEM parts were built and designed by some pretty smart people to fit and perform in your vehicle. Sure, you can find an aftermarket part for less money and some parts may be slightly “improved” but to stay inline with your scheduled maintenance and warranty, you almost can’t go wrong with an OEM part.
• What’s the part number?
For the 2015-2018 Kia K900 with a V8 engine, the part number is: 28113-3M500 (part number used in this video and link below)
I know we just met and trusting people is hard, so if you want to be certain, call your local dealership and give them your VIN number and ask for the correct part number (you might as well buy it at this point).

I always advise to take your vehicle to a trained technician at a reputable repair facility if you are not confident or comfortable performing maintenance tasks on your own vehicle.

Thank you for the video. I need a little help is you can. My wife recently inherited her father's 2015 k900. He purchased the luxury k900 new. He had a stroke and a care giver was driving the car all those years since. There was a little binder during that time and the bumper is loose and apparently there is a camera for the adaptive cruise control that the mechanic says is out of alignment. He says a body shop or the dealer would have the correct tools to realign the camera with. What would be your suggestion? Do you know where I could get info to reattach the bummer more completely. It looks like if I can figure out the correct mounting of the bumper I could re secure it. Any ideas with that? Thank you so much your videos are quite helpful!

Hey Ryan, I found your video not because I was changing my brakes but for another reason ... I got the Kia k900 from Toyota in South Austin and they sold it to me a couple months with a bunch of crappy tires. (My bad for not negotiating new, or higher-quality used tires.) One of the tires finally blew when I was on 183S about ten days ago ... when I went to remove one of the lug nuts, it had been cross-threaded with an impact wrench, wouldn't budge. Not to be deterred, I "gave it the business" ... and when I finally got it loose, it wasn't the lug that was loose -- the stud had come loose with the lug still attached to it, perhaps more firmly than ever for my efforts. I spent half a day to no avail trying to get the wheel off from a safe location where I had pulled off the highway. The first place I towed it kept for two days and then told me they couldn't do anything with it, that I would have to cut thru the rim. The second place I towed it, the guy had the decency to tell me I was better off dealing with it myself, because they charged $150/hr and it was gonna take at least four hours or something like that. They were gonna cut thru the rim also, so I had it towed back to my place (tow #3). My solution was to find some cobalt drill bits and I went to town drilling it out. Finally succeeded several hours (and 8 days) later, but when I went to drive it, the head of the stud had fallen back down in between the rotor and the shield (whatever it's called) behind the rotor. So I was trying to figure out if I had to take off the rotor in order to get her roadworthy again. That's when I found your video. Luckily I was able to get the offending bit of the stud out without taking it all apart. I def want one of those impact screwdrivers though, that thing is sweet. She's a great car, and I'm driving again with 4 outa 5 lugnut / studs on my front right wheel. Whole thing set me back several hundred cuz I had to rent a car and get a bunch of ubers, plus hardware cost of something like $120, most of it spent on drill bits. Love the channel, cool to find a fellow Austinite. I never see other K900s on the road, I'll keep my eyes out. Thanks.

I have a 2011 Hyundai Equus with a similar brake setup. I have found out that using OEM pads is best for me. The previous owner put aftermarket pads on and they were squeaking and clanging in the calipers. The dealership actually recommended OEM pads to rectify the problem and sure enough, no more noise. As far a rotors, I just used a decent set fron O'Reilly's.

Damn Ryan back at it with exactly the vid I needed. I am helping two buddies with my former Passat model year do all 4 of their brakes; both were curious how I learned and it was great vids like this. I have the exact wobble you described and a noticeable noise from front right, developed shortly after buying but isn’t worsening and noticeable only at low speeds, but I’d put it off too long. Never occurred to me that it could be from dealer overtorqueing the wheels, which I do recall being super hard to remove first time around the car. I’d ordered rear brakes on eBay instead of front on accident; day of delivery, my EPB fails. I’m parked in a private lot on a downward incline, and it’s locked up tight as hell. Drive/reverse with decent gas does not roll her. Several people online saying it’s a few thousand at any dealer has me finding the part from Korea for $350 or here in US ~$900. So I figure meanwhile I’ll cut the EPB cable and ignore the warning light. Have a buddy holding the brake pedal so the car doesn’t slide forward/scrape a chunk out of me (under it), but driver side cable being hard to reach I switch to pass, tell him “brake now” and… cut the identical (hydraulic) brake line! Wooo! $70 on AAP got the hose today and will now try to replace and bleed it without removing the tire or jacking, so that the brakes can be held properly again for me to cut the EPB cable fully. The incline just precludes jacking all together so this is the only safe way and order in my mind. Ever heard of that epb being an issue around 70-100kmi? I use it constantly, no noise or anything now just the light. On another note, I have a seemingly Kia factory guide with all specs, diagrams, schematics etc and bingo on the torque spec, it says 72.3-86.8 lb-ft torque for front caliper carrier assembly knuckle. Thanks again for the great resource and perspective on this job! Can’t wait to apply it and finally fix my brake setup. Might have to look into these cryo rotors when I order the fronts. Did your front pads come with the correct hardware or should those metal clips be ordered separately? I investigated the area from the wobble previously and love the ease of access and simplicity of that brake.
