So this group of people (lawyer, realtor, notary…) speak English. They might speak more languages you know. does it mean that they have to carry out a legal process in English with you because you dont speak Greek? You were in Greece and by law you need a translator for such procedure. They were too flexible. They should have not called you back at all!

I am born here in Sydney, love this nation but the government and general population have adopted this nanny state mentality to the extreme on everything. Rules apon rules for everything. Licencing for running your own ethernet cable! Are you fkn serious Australia!? Speeding fines for 3km/h over the limit. Bans, restrictions and taxes or everything. To get anything done usually requires fulfilling some money grabbing from the state/local/federal government(s). We like to think of ourselves as a free and laid back nation but we really aren't anymore. More bloody personal freedoms in China these days it's ridiculous.

in Greece look like there is law when you read it. but when you act is different :) by the way all saying i know finally if you will stay to talk 5 minute you will understand he do not have any mind he will ask and return to you. any way i established my company finnally in Greece i like Greece becasue of him culture but i was not knowing how is difficult to do some documents. we will see.

My Greek/Australian husband is inheriting a house there (which needs some work which we have funds for) but do you know how many euros a retired couple with modest tastes would require monthly to be comfortable ie not worry about bills, be able to run one car, go out to a taverna once or twice a week and stay warm in winter! Actually there is a compulsary "Real Estate License" in Greece, however it is true that there is no specific regulatory authority that checks practises. The bar for getting a real estate license in Greece is very low... Law Ν. 4072/2012 of the Greek parliament just requires a highschool degree, a blank penal record and a 1 month seminar.... so around 900 real estate firms laready exist

I have had a range of totally useless to outright not interested to brilliant lawyers here in the UK. My first house purchase taught me that its up to me to make sure everything is in order not the lawyer. My theory is that if you are in the top 3% then the lawyers can be absolutely brilliant and really save and help you. For the rest of use they tend to be a necessary cost we have to endure. Not all but a lot.

Then, like the Israelis, Chinese, and many others, use REMAX to find a property. When you buy, you'll need to pay a small fee to the agents, which is 1.5% of the total price, no more than that. All the properties have a square meter price, which you can easily find, even using ChatGPT. Then, you can start negotiations. I am in this business, and I know what I'm telling you
