Make sure the forward and reverse lever is in neutral. That beeping is normal right before you turn it on.

Step 1) does it crank? If it doesn’t, check power first to the starter. See if it’s getting 12v from the key switch to the starter solenoid. Or you can use a power probe and inject 12v to the starter solenoid and see if it cranks

Most of the older mowers are very easy to fix and cheap 😊😊😊

Usually I just replace head gasket and rebuild carb to start with, piston will be covered in carbon

Paint dash and deck, then polish the rest, will look nice again 😊 I love these old models
